It’s always interesting to see how people react to Eddie Van Halen for the first time. Even more interesting when it’s a millennial who’s preferred music genre of choice is hip hop. Like in this video, posted by Hectic Reacts, the first edition of the channel’s Shreddin’ Saturday. Hectic says Eddie’s 13-minute Eruption solo was “By far, the most requested solo I’m supposed to check out.”
Hectic is first taken aback by the fans themselves.
“That crowd is insane, dude. They’re so loud.”
Next, he’s slightly amused by Eddie using the guitar to hold his cigarette, and again when Eddie takes a quick second to get another drag before ripping into the solo. What happens soon after, though, is nothing short of pure amazement.
It’s videos like this that prove what we’ve known for the past 40 years – not only did Eddie Van Halen’s performances redefine guitar playing, but his music and guitar playing transcends the time it was written, and appeals to younger generations decades later, and even to fans of different musical genres. That’s timeless.
Hectic says the Shreddin’ Saturday is dedicated to some of the best guitar players to have ever played. He hit the nail on the head kicking it off with this one!
Take a watch!
