Edward Van Halen – The King of ten fingers, six strings….And a golf club?
Van Halen appeared at the 10th Anniversary George Lopez Celebrity Golf Classic on Monday, May 1st at Lakeside Country Club in Toluca Lake, California to help raise awareness about kidney disease and organ donation.
You can read more about the event plus check out some additional photos at Lopez’s foundation website.
Recently, Van Halen donated a guitar to the George Lopez Foundation to help raise funds for kids with kidney issues.
Below are videos and photos featuring Van Halen’s appearances at the event.
Lopez explained when he became a Van Halen fan and how he came to be friends with Edward.
“Mr. Van Halen, well, first of all I love the band, but from the first time I put the record needle on that first Van Halen album I’ve been a fan. I was at The Forum in 1981. We meet in 2011 and since then we’ve played golf for the last few years on a weekly basis. I can’t imagine a more caring friend and a better dude than Eddie. The one thing that has eluded me in my life is learning to play the guitar. Eddie has been so kind to gift me a couple EVH Gear guitars, so I don’t have an excuse not to play. I consider [him] family. I’d of never imagined when I was in my grandmothers house dreaming about where my life would take me that [this hero of mine] would become my friend.”
