On Monday, Van Halen shut down part of Hollywood Blvd. to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live to support its new live album, “Tokyo Dome Live in Concert,” and a recently announced summer tour (tickets go on sale this Saturday). “Panama” and “Runnin’ With The Devil” can be viewed below.
Why does David Lee Roth have a bandage on his nose? He as he was spinning his microphone stand during their first take of “Panama.” He had to abruptly stop the song and be taped up — though he did continue to run with the devil. (The mishap was edited out of the songs that aired). He makes a joke about it halfway through the version below, but his bloodied nose doesn’t stop the 60-year-old rocker from kicking and singing his way through the song.
Jimmy Kimmel said they got more ticket requests for Van Halen than for any other act they’ve ever featured. Over 6,000 die-hard fans turned up, even though the vast majority had no way of acquiring tickets.
UPDATE: Part 2 is up! Watch “Hot For Teacher”, “Eruption” and “You Really Got Me” HERE.
