What’s 30 years between friends?
Back in 1978, Eddie Van Halen was thrilled to be touring with one of his idols, Black Sabbath. As this 1978 backstage photo shows, one day Queen’s Brian May attended a Black Sabbath/Van Halen show and hooked up with Eddie and Tony Iommi backstage. Luckily for guitar buffs, someone snapped this historic photo—showing three HUGE guitar legends arm in arm.
And what makes that photo even more special, is that exactly 30 years later, in 2008, the same three guitarists ended up together again—and someone documented that with a photo, as well!
And (probably by coincidence) the three legends happen to be standing in the exact same order: Brian May, Tony Iommi, and Edward Van Halen. This makes it, officially, our favorite photo recreation in rock ’n’ roll!
