Author and storyteller Kambri Crews tells the story of how, as a teenager growing up in a poor family, David Lee Roth became her unconventional life coach. She started off incredibly attracted to the Van Halen singer, and then opened her mind to his words of wisdom, which inspired her and change her life.
“The only thing I had was my boombox, and my love for David Lee Roth—the best—the only—lead singer for Van Halen. Diamond Dave was not just eye candy to me. He was an intellectual. He was the only member of the band who knew what Zen was, and who knew how to spell it.” Watch the video to hear everything she says about Dave.

About the artwork: The artwork below has nothing to do with Kambri Crews and her video, but we think it goes great with this post. The artist, TheSolidOne33, calls it “Gaze Unto Me And Be Awesome” because he calls Dave “St. Dave – Patron Saint of Frontmanship.” The artist jokes, “Who doesn’t love Van Halen? Terrorists. That’s who. Anyway, Van Halen is only Van Halen with David Lee Roth and he is back. So to honor his second coming I give you a little piece of blasphemy. Going to hell has never been so fun.”
