Update 4/7/14: Here’s a full version of the song, above.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band began their six week U.S. tour tonight (April 6th), opening with Van Halen’s #1 hit, “Jump.” It was the first time that song has ever been played by the E Street Band. The video is embedded above, but unfortunately cuts before Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello’s guitar solo.
The outdoor show was part of the March Madness Music Festival at Reunion Park in Dallas. The free show was part of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament festivities being played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Saturday and Monday.
In classic style, Springsteen took the stage to the sounds of the Harlem Globetrotter’s theme, “Sweet Georgia Brown.” While dribbling the ball, the 64-year old rocker said, “This has something to do with basketball” before the keyboards to “Jump” kicked in.
