Unearthed Photos & Flyer: Van Halen 1978 Record Store Appearances at Sound Warehouse

Flyer-for-the-Van-Halen-appearance-at-Sound-Warehouse-Dallas-1978

We’ve unearthed photos and a promotional flyer from two of Van Halen’s in-store appearances during their first world tour in 1978.

First, here’s a flyer from an appearance at Sound Warehouse in Dallas, Texas, from exactly 35 years ago today! The flyer states, “SOUND WAREHOUSE on Lemmon and knight welcomes [Van Halen logo]. See and Meet VAN HALEN in person. Saturday, Nov. 25 at 2:30pm.”

Second, all photographs are from a different record store appearance; five days earlier, on Nov. 20th, 1978. This appearance was at the Sound Warehouse in Oklahoma City, OK. Unfortunately, the band can barely be glimpsed in the photos, but it’s cool to see the crowd (it was a madhouse!), the promotional material, and hey, it’s a record store! And you don’t see many record stores these days.

Thanks to R. Galbraith for the photos. These have never been seem anywhere before.
