“Eddie’s a master, he’s the Mozart of the guitar,” Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready said in a recent U-T San Diego interview after attending Van Halen’s Tacoma, Washington concert this year.
“I went (to the Tacoma show) with Eddie (Vedder) and (Alice In Chain’s) Jerry Cantrell, and I watched Eddie (Van Halen) in awe. I like the new Van Halen album and I wasn’t expecting to. It sounds like the old Van Halen.”
Here’s a backstage photo of Ed and Wolf with Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, Jerry Cantrell, and Sean Kinney backstage at a Van Halen show in Tacoma.
McCready is a huge fan of Eddie Van Halen. He tweeted a picture of himself with Eddie during the recording of Van Halen’s A Different Kind Of Truth.
Pearl Jam whipped out Van Halen’s “Eruption” on Thursday, July 5th at their concert in Germany at the Berlin O2 Arena. Watch that footage below, along with footage of them covering “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love” in Hartford, Connecticut, May 15th, 2010.
