The latest communique from the Van Halen camp:
ED AND WOLFGANG VAN HALEN TALK SHOP WITH GUITAR WORLD
“I couldn’t wait for the day I’d be able to make music with my son.” – EDWARD VAN HALEN
(Los Angeles, CA) January 27, 2008 – As VAN HALEN prepared to kick off the second leg of their incredibly successful tour, EDDIE and WOLFGANG VAN HALEN recently sat down to talk to Guitar World in the magazine’s first ever father and son cover story.
Among the topics discussed are the ins and outs of playing VAN HALEN music live, how WOLFGANG came into the band, what it’s like for a 16-year old to play on some of the biggest stages in the world and much more!

Due to hit newsstands on February 12, the 12-page spread is jam-packed with color photos and features a detailed discussion with father and son on what it’s like to be band mates, their experience of being on tour together in addition to detailing the instruments and touring equipment they use. Also included, in honor of its 30-year anniversary, is a retrospective overview of the making of the band’s groundbreaking 1978 debut, “VAN HALEN.”
Don’t forget that ALEX VAN HALEN‘S exclusive 21-page interview and photo shoot with Modern Drummer hits newsstands everywhere on February 5.
In other news, by popular demand, VAN HALEN returned to the road on January 22 for the second leg of the tour that began at Ford Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
This portion of the tour finds EDDIE, DAVID LEE ROTH, ALEX and WOLFGANG VAN HALEN performing in selected cities for the first time as well as returning to others for encore performances.
Take it from Time magazine and its list of the top 10 live performances of 2007 (VAN HALEN‘S October 18th, 2007 performance at the United Center in Chicago, Ill. ranks sixth) – “EDDIE VAN HALEN not only has the same guitar chops he had two decades ago, he’s got the same abs,” writes Time.com’s Josh Tyrangiel, “and he even appears to be enjoying his proximity to Diamond Dave. Just one more reason this belongs on a list of the best performances of the year.”
Make sure to see the show and decide for yourself because there’s only one VAN HALEN!
