VAN HALEN NEWS DESK ... Because Too Much Van Halen Is Never Enough.

Hitler Reacts to an Eddie Van Halen Guitar Challenge

Watch Hitler’s reaction when challenged to a guitar battle by none other than the guitar hero himself, Eddie Van Halen! Let’s see if Hitler can stand up to the challenge…

  • Gubgub109

    Adolf and the S.S…. “A.S.S” will never have a hit single!

  • Conan the barbarian

    “I think the real story here is that hitler actually got the news that van halen isn’t releasing new music until 2046″.

    Yeah, we are waiting for someone to use this clip like that. It’s potential is far more serious!

  • Roth_Leaps_83

    Very funny clip!

    Kinda sad though — makes me realize there are no young up-and-coming guitar heroes to challenge Eddie. I remember being bummed in 1986 when I heard the tunes from “5150″ and knew the VH swagger was gone, but I felt better knowing there were other rock guitarists out there doing great stuff like Warren DeMartini and Vito Bratta.

    I thought hard rock music was gonna be around forever. Little did I know that shitty grunge would come along in a few years and kill it. I’ve been waiting ever since the early 90′s for it to make a glorious return — but it never came back.

    I’m excited about the new VH album — but we know Dave and Eddie won’t live forever. Is good rock music permanently extinct? What a legacy to leave our future generations. ;-(

    @ Atomic Pete

    That was the funniest comment today! Remind me to pay for the next round!

    @ GottaLoveEddie

    I am the Social Studies Department Chair for my school district. I know that 11th graders will be discussing World War II sometime in February. This would an excellent “sponge” to capture the students attention. Especially if VH releases their new album around that time.

  • Mr. Bookworm

    Rather than face Eddie, three days later Hitler committed suicide. All hail EVH for ending the war!!

  • GottaLoveEddie

    @5150 Yes, indeed it would be! Grade 11 would love it! I teach grade 9, so they are a bit young to show this to, but for one glimmering moment of amusement..I thought about it ;) ..lol!

  • SCAR

    Hitler, What a FUCKING PUTZ!!!!!!! I hope enjoy getting pineapples shoved up your ass!!!!

  • Andy

    Umm…this would have been funny about 2 or 3 years ago if it was an original idea. Go on YouTube and you’ll find about 200 different versions of this clip with some jack wad changing the subtitles to any topic you can think of.

    UGH!!! This is the kind of stuff we get to deal with while waiting for VH to do ANYTHING that’s relevant.

  • http://vhnd.com Full-Bug85

    That was hillarious!

    @GottaLoveEddie
    My History teacher in 9th grade was awesome! My first day in his class he looked like such a dork, but he came over to me when he saw my VH 1984 shirt and started to air guitar and sing Hot For Teacher. I knew he was going to kick ass right then and there. And he sure did. He would show us movies like Monty Python’s Holy Grail or Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure and have us write small essays on the historical parts. I think showing this to your class would be awesome! In my humble opinion…

  • sephryan

    I thought that was pretty good. I laughed pretty hard. It would have put me in tears had they thrown in an ocassional fart from one of Hitler’s men.. and the they all just stand there with straight faces..

  • pabloramirez716

    Awesome !!!

  • Ed is God

    Hitler has nothing to worry about. Where do you think Ed learned about symmetrical scales and tap harmonics? Plus, Hitler can sweep pick like a mofo…..

  • andy

    Hmm…understanding german kinda takes the fun out of it :)

  • Fonso

    Fucking hilarious ! that’s some funny shit, much props to to creator of this video…..oh yeah, FUCK HITLER TOO

    LONG LIVE VAN MUTHAFUCKIN’ HALEN

  • CBiddy

    That was funny. Thanks for posting.

  • Wicked

    That wasn’t too bad. I agree with others here that it could have been funnier by focusing more on Hitler’s disappointment that Michael Anthony was no longer in the band.

    One of the best of these Hitler videos is Hitler’s reaction after hearing Rebecca Black’s “Friday” (look it up on YouTube).

  • Arnievanheflen

    Shit is just getting weird around here…

  • GottaLoveEddie

    @Full-Bug85 Well now, perhaps for the semester 2 crowd, I will give it some thought. They do know: from the bulletin board beside my desk, that is adorned with Van Halen pics..aka..”my happy place” on stressful days (lol); and my casual day EVH striped sneakers and T-shirts..who Eddie Van Halen is..LOL! How could they not?! ..and in all truth..the man certainly shifted the course of history..rock history that is. So yeah..maybe I will show it! It will definitely fit into the Cold War unit…some of the best music ever recorded came out of that chapter of history..hands down ;) ..imo…

  • CWBYJM

    Loved VH for many, many, years but why Hitler? Some of us actually despise that man and while it may have been funny to some it does hurt to see him.

  • GottaLoveEddie

    @Full-Bug85..also..love Monty Python! Being Canadian, I grew up with a lot of British tv, film, etc. My Dad’s generation was the one that went to WW2, so the ties to Britain..long story..but, loved the Monty Python humour..and still do! To your grade 9 teacher, as long as the curriculum was being covered, well done!!.. for having a student who still has happy memories of them..definitely a feather in any teacher’s cap :)

  • http://vhnd.com Full-Bug85

    @jaaphalen
    Cool to hear about your parents. My dad tried to join the Canadian army but was too young. My uncle (who also worked in the oil fields in Edmonton and is retired there btw whispergirl) was the pilot of a Halifax bomber called “the naked girl” for the royal Canadian air force. He flew many missions over Europe and always has awesome stories about it when we visit. My parents lost many friends in europe. When we visit raymond (where my dad was born) we visit the cemetery to see his parents and we visit a few graves of their childhood friends who were killed there. It saddens me that we are quickly losing that generation because listening to their history is so fascinating to me. They were indeed heroes and in my mind the real rock stars!

  • jorge

    3 minutes and 50 secs i can never get back …. wow that was badddd..

  • GottaLoveEddie

    @Full-Bug85: God I am long winded tonight..but, OOPS!! Had to correct myself, the part about ties to Britain and being Canadian,obviously goes back long before WW2. My post above was a little misleading, made it sound like British ties started around WW2, in all actuality Canada’s responsibility to Britain ended not long before WW2, with the Statute of Westminster. Canada declared war on Germany on her own on Sept. 10,1939. The sense of loyalty to Britain however, was still well intact. For some reason though, I still seemed to grow up with a lot of British television and movies ;) ..Coronation Street included..lol! ..still watch that..lol!! :D

  • rsully

    This is amazingly fantastic…very funny…the closest thing we have to a new album

  • whispergirl

    Hitler is cute. Wow. Who knew that was a possibility.

    I love the poster’s comments too. On teaching aids, you can use this as early as Ninth Grade. Are you kidding me? My 8th grade nephew has been into WWII for at least five years. I remember my eighth grade English teacher using rock music to study poetry. He had a picture of Roger Daltry on the wall. I still remember that guy. Those lessons work.

    Leaps says: “Is good rock music permanently extinct”. Yes, that’s why this silly fan went to the Grammy’s for only a “sighting”. Like they are an eagle, right Jaaphalen and Musicalmike?

  • jaaphalen

    @ fullBlug85-My great uncle on my dads side built radios for the underground, and many times he would hide shot down Canadian pilots in his home. Unfortunately, he got ratted-out and wound up in front of a firing squad(we think, he was never seen again). Thank-you so much for sharing-I went to college in the midwest, and had the great priviledge of partying w/ Canadians. Canadians from Ontario, Alberta and all points in b/twn-man could they party! PS-years later in my dads village they had Hitlers parade Mercedes on display. He said the car was huge, and they had a special box put in to make him look taller when he stood. Thanks.

  • GottaLoveEddie

    @Full-Bug85: gathering from your last post, that you are Canadian as well. My oldest Uncle was also in the RCAF, never got to meet him though. He tried a few times to get into the airforce and was refused (“too old”..in his mid twenties..lol). They finally did take him however, his plane crashed landed on the night-time bombing runs, near their base in England :( Several other aunts and uncles served as well. Dad was in medical school at the time, (medical students were allowed to finish their education as they might be needed in the war), but was finishing and preparing to join, when the war ended. So proud of all of them :) It is something, to look at Dad’s old yearbooks (1940-1945) from UNB and McGill University, and see all the tributes at the beginning of each book, to the students who had gone off to join the war in Europe. Now that would be something to share with my students..

  • whispergirl

    @Full-Bug85: your uncle and my dad (workers in those Alberta oil fields) probably knew each other. They were a really tight group. Who knows, when I was running through the northern Alberta wheat fields in the summers and early falls in 68-72 (when my dad was in those fields), I probably saw your uncle. Ask him, I was the particularly shy little girl with brown hair to my waist making all the kids follow me around, wearing colorful clothes that did not match. LOL. In my mind, just the fact that your uncle was there (in Alberta), that makes us “family”. My new bro, Full-Bug85.

    Yes, that generation has MAJOR stories.
    To all teachers. This story is after WWII, but relevant to your teaching methods. My dad (83 years strong) was a scientist after that time, during the Korean war, when they were testing A-bombs. The Army had a program where a team of six (I think it was six) scientists would watch “from a safe distance” the detonation of an atomic bomb, then went into the site to conduct tests. His team was in Nevada. Two generations later — two years ago, my nephew, then in sixth grade, was given an assignment to cover an event/hero/person that changed things. Nephew chose my dad/his grandfather (“Pappy”). Pappy talked about this A-bomb experience soooo infrequently with me (and my siblings), but he loves nephew. So nephew wrote up interview questions, typed those questions, and Pappy sat for an interview in person. Pappy’s answers are my favorite part. They are AMAZING; they are scientist-like without any tinge of politicization. In fact, this dialogue between a cold-war-era scientist (who just happens to be my own father) and little nephew sent chills all the way through me; I was proud of them both, nephew for such a top-notch interview and my dad for his candid and insightful answers. My bro read it to me, and it was like I never heard the story; like I never knew these people — people who I happen to love sooo much. Nephew’s assignment was to present the interview as a show and tell to the sixth grade class along. He supported it with with my father’s orders (saying the entire thing is top secret). So, afterwards, the entire class then studied the nuclear test program. In sixth grade, with my nephew’s report as the starter. Point here: that was no too young. And I remember Holocaust survivors visiting my class in sixth grade too (with all the discussion of Hitler). It all depends on the message and the tools used to learn. So use what you can. If this inspires a child, or will inspire a child, PLEASE use it. Kudos to all of you teachers. You make the world a WAY better place.

  • http://vhnd.com Full-Bug85

    @GottaLoveEddie
    That is awesome stuff that I didn’t know about Canada. Thank you! And awesome that your parents are from that generation as well! Sorry folks. This started as a poke of fun at hitler with VH but this era was really important to me so thank you GottaLoveEddie and jaaphalen for sharing! And GottaLoveEddie LOVE Monty python and all that old school brittish humor! Van Halen is not the only thing I’m passing down to my kid! And yes my teacher did a great job teaching the curriculum he just made it sooo fun. His was probably the only class I had a 100% attendance that year! hehe…

  • McTex

    Loved it. My vote is more humorous stuff on VHND.

  • jaaphalen

    @ whispergirl-cool story about your dad. Thanks for sharing.

  • jeffrey

    LOL

  • http://vhnd.com Full-Bug85

    @ jaaphalen, whispergirl, and GottaLoveEddie
    Thanks all! Very awesome stuff from all three of you!
    @ jaaphalen
    Very cool story about your great uncle. An absolute true hero!
    @whispergirl
    Very good chance my uncle and your dad knew each other. Will probably be some time before I get to talk to him again but maybe I’ll have my mom shoot him an email asking if he remembers that little girl! Love your stories whispergirl! Plz keep em comin!
    @GottaLoveEddie
    I am not Canadian myself but most of my family is. My parents moved to salt lake (born and raised here!) bout 20 years before I was born. But we visit family in Alberta quite a bit and it’s one of my favorite places I’ve ever seen! Very cool stuff about your family serving too. Wonder if your uncle knew mine? He told me one story that their navigator got them lost on the way back to England from a bombing raid. They barely made it. When they got back they found out the rest of their squadron got ambushed on the way back. Many were shot down. He still feels their navigator saved their lives that night by getting lost!
    Wow never thought I would be talking such deep stuff with VH bros and sisses here. But very cool. We have a lot more in common than the coolest rock band ever…love you guys!

  • http://vhnd.com Full-Bug85

    @jaaphalen and whispergirl from earlier post (regarding April b-days)
    Jaaphalen that would be an awesome birthday present!
    Whispergirl I hope again that by then we would know the new album by heart and our present would be the tour and some tix! haha. You asked me earlier why 85? Good question and that would lead into my story of my undying love for my all time favorite band (sorry folks!)
    It was 1984 and I was 12 yrs old. Mostly innocent (at least in my eyes! Except when I almost burned down the garage!) My friend up the street was starting to turn me on to a different type of rock than I was used to. At this point I was rockin out to Styx, Journey, and even Duran Duran! They still all hold a special place in my heart-even Duran Duran. And I’ll tell you why, MEMORIES! Much like the song Jump, nowadays not my favorite VH song but it was on the radio all the time and a song I definitely liked, but didn’t really know who played it. My friend up the street was showing me stuff like Shout at the Devil, AC/DC, Dio, and the likes. One day we are going to scout camp together (scouts honor!) and we are packed in the back of our scoutmaster’s meat wagon in pitch black! So he loads up an album in his (here we go for the 80′s!) ghetto blaster. It is 1984. I love hearing Jump, and then I hear the rest of the album! MY. GOD! I’ll never forget the first time of hearing those drums sounding like an idling Harley! Then the guitar! And then Dave in his perfectly cocky tone wondering what the teacher’s gonna look like this year! Van Halen was instantly my favorite band of all time! We played that album over and over during the camp. And then I discovered MTV. I remember someone giving leaps crap (5150?)that he grew up with MTV and seeing Dave there instead of appreciating the music or something like that. Well I grew up on MTV and thought Dave kicked ass! But still loved Eddie and Alex. OK so why 85? Fast forward to the fact I missed the 1984 tour and havent been to a concert yet. But I’m rockin out to Motley, AC/DC, Ozzy, Ratt, Twisted Sister and Van Halen. Loved them all at the time but VH is still my FAV! All my friends knew I was looking forward to the new album and new tour! wanted my first concert to be THE mighty Van Halen! A few months later in 1985 now, and a fateful incident in the locker room…(not that kind so stop reading if thats what your hoping for! lol!) my friend comes up and tells me Did you hear the news? Dave left VH! The Soviets could have gone ahead an dropped the bombs at that point cuz I was DEVASTATED! Fast forward to today…Still have not seen VH with Roth. (BTW my first concert was the not so mighty Van Halen-5150 tour. My second was Roth on Eat Em tour. Both cool-Dave IMO better cuz he played way more classics!) Missed them on last tour cuz they never came here to salt lake and too in debt to go see them somewhere else. But got myself out of debt and planning on taking my son to see them on THIS tour! Feeling giddy…like 1985! so whispergirl, there’s my short version of why 85. And Full Bug is one of my all time favs! Sorry bout the long posts folks! (Hope Jasonbourne didn’t see this!)

  • http://vhnd.com Full-Bug85

    @GottaLoveEddie
    I would definitely share that yearbook with your students. That is REAL history right there! Very Good stuff. My mom told me a story when they where traveling to Alberta with my Grandma and they passed where Custer was killed. The only thing there to attribute to the US troops or Native American tribes killed there at the time was a large wooden cross…History continues to change so it’s cool to share it while it’s semi-fresh! I LOVE history. The ONLY class I really excelled at! And now I suck…imagine that…lol!

  • Ken A

    The Downfall parody videos were officially played out when someone finally got around to making the “Hitler finds out about all the Downfall parodies on YouTube” video.

  • GottaLoveEddie

    @Everyone: ..sorry got a bit wordy above didn’t I? ;)

    @Full-Bug85, jaaphalen and whispergirl: Thanks for sharing your family stories as well…there are so many interesting stories from that chapter in history..wow! Whispergirl, when I questioned the age appropriateness for grade 9, I just meant some of the language in the subtitles that appears. Not that it is that bad (I hear a lot worse from the kids..lol). It would just be my luck however, to be showing this when my principal decides to drop in for a visit, and me with a sheepish look on my face (hee hee hee) Not sure that he would feel it was classroom appropriate or not. Thanks also for your kind comments to all teachers, that was awesome. This entire conversation was awesome actually, especially since Jan Van Halen (the brother’s Dad) had his own WW2 stories to tell no doubt. Just reading how he was reportedly captured by the Nazis and forced to play propaganda music during the war. Can you just imagine?

    Okay, that is enough out of me for now..lol..!!
    Cheers all!

  • Me Wise Magic

    Several things to add here; first of all, Downfall is a GREAT movie. And the chap that plays Hitler, Bruno Ganz, absolutely nails the role.

    That said… I’ve seen tons of these “Hitler Rants” and I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that wasn’t funny. I only wish people would realize when his troops say: “My Fuhrer” it’s not “Sir,” it’s My Fuhrer! And he says “Stalin” in there too, meaning the Russian leader at the time. Nobody ever gets those two parts right.

    Anyway… I always love the anticipation of what the one girl says to the other… those are some of the best lines. “He also plays a mean version of Eleanor Rigby!” LOL

    Good stuff!

  • http://vhnd.com Little cat voom

    That was great, so much funnier than the time that Winston Churchill challenged Leslie West.

    Downfall – good movie. Bruno Ganz plays Hitler very well. Think I`d turn the role down if I was an actor, can`t think of a nastier role to be typecast in.

  • GottaLoveEddie

    @Full-Bug85: Last thing, my uncle was a Flight-Sargeant and navigator..I would be very interested to know if our Uncles knew each other. Now wouldn’t that be something. I have always meant to write and get his service records. I learned a lot more about him in recent years than I had known growing up. My mom was just a little girl during the war, and they really did not tell her a lot about what happened to him. I found out within the last few years that it was actually a crash landing. I suppose mom was eventually told the truth at some point, but really didn’t talk about it much.

  • Switters

    It was funniest when he realizes he’s up against Eddie. Then it just gets disturbing and added to my pissed off feelings about all things Van Halen right now. Can’t this band just be FUN again? Sammy does blab too much – but he’s RIGHT about a lot of sh*t.

  • LIAL GREENE

    I LIKE IT ~ Good lighthearted fun

  • J.J.

    “Inglorius” RUBBISH!; Whoops, I ment “Bastards”! :O

  • Kathy

    Wasn’t the Van Halen’s father made a prisoner by the Nazis during WWII and forced to music for the entertainment of the SS? I think I read about that long, long ago.
