Sammy Hagar: Dance of the Electric Hummingbird “A Must-Read for Redheads”

Here’s something different! There’s a newly released book which Sammy Hagar calls “A MUST-READ for Redheads.”

“DANCE OF THE ELECTRIC HUMMINGBIRD: An Ordinary Woman’s Accidental Journey to Enlightenment, the Supernatural, and Rock Star Sammy Hagar” by Pat Walker. The original cover artwork is by Aaron Hagar.

“Pat Walker takes to heart the same type of messages I try to relate through my music and my life—go out and seek your dreams, don’t ever give up, celebrate your life and every part of who you are. I know Pat’s journey of mystical transformations will inspire you. Enjoy the journey.”

—SAMMY HAGAR

Wandering into a bar in Mexico with her husband, Pat Walker is hoping to enjoy a rock concert by a famous singer previously unknown to her—but something frightening and wonderful happens instead. In the midst of the cheering fans and screaming guitars, she is lifted out of her body and becomes engulfed in a white light and a feeling of ecstasy. She stumbles upon her soul, and God. Soon after this experience, more strange things begin to happen to her—she starts having psychic revelations, glimpses of past lives, and contact with angels and spirits. Fearing the loss of her sanity, Pat’s search for an explanation leads her to international recording star Sammy Hagar (lead singer of Chickenfoot and former lead singer of Van Halen), who takes it upon himself to help her decipher the meaning of these supernatural experiences.

In this true story, Pat struggles to maintain her roles of middle-class wife and mom, while simultaneously being thrust into the explosive world of celebrities, sex, and rock ‘n’ roll combined with spiritual dimensions beyond her wildest dreams. All of this forces her to confront the incredible power of her mind and spirit, and to reevaluate her perception of reality and the meaning of life.

I’ve known Pat for over 35 years. I’m sooooo very excited to read her book!! I know this is NOT a bs thing that happened to her. She’s a very upbeat, REAL, wonderful person to know. For the bad comments, you people need need to not judge if you don’t know. Pat – I’m am sooooo happy for you and your journey and I can’t wait to read your book. I know I’ll read it more than once, as I’m sure I also will get something more out of it with every read. Stay the wonderful person that you are and always have been. You ROCK!!!

  • Aftershock

Any truth to the rumor that in her spare time Pat writes official tweets for the Grammys?

  • Vegas Chris

I see there are a lot of people out there that never learned if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all! Knowing Pat for part of her journey, I congratulate her on the book and can’t wait to read it! She is one of the sweetest women to ever walk this planet and doesn’t deserve your rude and inappropriate comments… Until YOU read the book and know what you’re commenting on, you should keep your mouth shut!

  • Nat

I’m a fan of the Hagar era VH and I’m all for Sammy news on here as far as it pertains to music and even his business stuff, but this is stretching it a bit. What’s next, we’re going to start getting posts about the restaurant he recommended to his brother-in-law? Maybe his favorite TV show?

    This isn’t exactly Sammy “news”.

  • Brandon

    WTF!!!

  • http://None Dirty Duck

Thanks vegas, but this is a van halen website….not barnes and noble. Dont know pat, or her journey, but we’re all on one so bottoms up!

  • RedJeanette

This is a great book that can help anyone with an open mind to see things in a new and more positive way! Pat’s personal journey through her experiences brings to life the joy one can have by appreciating everyone and everything in their lives to the fullest. Her story is deeply personal but is so inspiring. I learned a lot about Pat from reading this but I KNOW I learned MUCH MORE about myself and gained some valuable insight on how I can know myself even better. She’s a sweet, talented and powerful lady and I wish her much continued success! Many folks, not just fans of Sammy’s, will be able to thoroughly enjoy this read!!! Kudos Pat! You ROCK!!! ~JA~

Didn’t Leaps have this book on his Christmas list?

  • Bluesbro

Vegas Chris … if Roth had endorsed the book this crowd would be falling all over themselves with praise. Consider the source and don’t let them get you riled up.

  • Gov13

    Nat,
This book is about Sammy Hagar, and he even recommends it to his fans. I’d say that classifies this story as “Sammy news”.

  • John M.

When Sammy endorses the new VH album as great then Ill shut my mouth, but while he spues I have no respect for him or anything he’s involved with.

  • Kent

I was at the birthday bash and Sammy talked about this book on stage during one of the shows. I met the author and she seems cool. I’m kinda curious about the book.

  • Jill

I’m reading this book right now! I love the way Pat writes. it’s a great read!

  • SCAR

@ 5150, A toast to you sir, well put!!!

  • Shine On

Patricia “Baja Rock Pat” Walker? She’s a good poet, for sure. I’ve had a feeling of ecstasy at some concerts (particularly when seeing the reunited Who in 1989), but can’t say I ever really felt lifted out of my body and engulfed in a white light, stumbling upon God, as Walker recalls. Not even at my first Van Halen concert in ’82, when before the concert I smoked too much hash and drank too much whiskey in a hot & humid indoor arena and started seeing the world in a haze of lighter and darker shades of gray (but I DID thank God my vision cleared up enough that I could see again when Van Halen took the stage, and I made it a point to not touch anything inebriating for the rest of that night as penance.)

I don’t doubt that Walker would write a compelling account of her journey, just based on some of her poetry I’ve read. Heck, even her book title is poetic.

  • MikeontheBass

How many of you have seen the first 30 seconds of the Chickenfoot DVD Live in PHX?
They’re all saying a prayer to the higher power.
That means they believe in “One” greater than ourselves.
Go out and seek the truth about the universe and the power you all have in your heart and soul.
It is a gift to be here, Sammy knows it and so does Mrs. Walker.
Just a suggestion for inner peace, if you want it!

  • Sticks

If she wants to sell alot of copies, just let people know you’re bad mouthing Eddie in the book!!!!! That’s how Samy got people interested into his book!!!

  • RockinDonkey

Oh noes! Not the invisible man in the sky theory!

  • Tommy Boy

This is gonna get ugly, already leanin that way….and Duck, nice! We are all on our own journey, if this book helps one person along theirs, cool. I wanna rock….I don’t wanna see this. VH has helped me on my journey as probably a lot of you other good folks. I’m ready….

  • Shine On

Aaron Hagar should be doing album cover artwork.

For all you people with the negative
comments you need to keep your
thoughts to your selves if you haven’t read
the book! This book was a great story of a
woman who found herself thru Sammy
Hagar BUT it could have happened the
same to other people with someone else!
I recommend this book without a doubt!

  • Garrett

@5150 “Didn’t Leaps have this book on his Christmas list?”

    LOLOLOLOL Best comment ever.

  • Mr. Objectivity

Guys, guys, guys come on. I’m as nauseated by Sam’s music, rantings and quest to remain relevant as much as anyone else these days (I was a fan when he was my only choice of VH singers and have met him and thought he was a super cool.

That said – I have no idea what this book is about but I assume it’s about life and what comes after (which we’ll all deal with long after the VH signs goes dark). By all accounts the woman is a peach. Let’s give her some respect. Hope her book is a hit…this probably the wrong forum. Thats all.

    @ Dirty Duck

Our journey will finally reach it’s destination in early 2012 with the new VH album….which will take us to a new frontier!

  • freddiegirl

Love you Duckie! 5150-you in danger bro! do you really want to poke a sleeping leaps? :D

  • Sleestak

Er…good luck with your book and your journey. I hope you reach the final level of Hagarness or whatever it is you are looking for.

For me, Hagar has been a nightmare, screaming at me through my radio (never a cloud though thank all that’s holy) and wrecking my VH journey for decades.

If Sam endorses the Book… we’ll check it out! Thanks Pat!! All Roads lead to Cabo!!

  • Icarewhatuthink

@Patsy and Vegas.Don’t let dumb comments get to you. They’re all over this site and that’s because it’s easy to be insulting over the internet-you won’t get the piss smacked out of you for a stupid comment.Believe me these people don’t talk that way in real life.I don’t take Sammy seriously but I respect you guys personally knowing the author.

  • Eddie Trumps Sammy

    Gingers have no SOULS!!

  • Drummer G

In her book, Walker takes the risk of going beyond simply being an audience member moved by Sammy’s music to investigate what is actually behind her experience. It’s one rock and roll lover’s answer to the question that more of us should be asking: WTF is this energy and what should I DO with it! The cover art from Sammy’s son rocks, too. (anybody else recognize the “Cabo Wabo” beach front?). Props to Sammy for having the balls to post it on the VH site. Get on your bad motor scooter and read this book.

  • tiredofsammy

I RARELY COMMENT ON THINGS AND I CHECK THIS WEBSITE EVERYDAY…I WAS ONE OF THE VH FANS THAT LIKES BOTH DAVE AND SAMMY AND I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT THAT…BUT SAMMY IS REALLY STARTING TO SICKEN ME WITH HIS LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME, EDDIE SUCKS, SATCH IS GREAT, I’D NEVER GO BACK TO VAN HALEN, PROBABLY, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE ACTUALLY VISIT THE CHICKENFOOT ONLY SITE IF THERE IS ONE. AND I’M SURE THIS BOOK IS WELL WRITTEN AND ENLIGHTENING, BUT THIS IS A VAN HALEN SITE! AND AS FAR AS THE CHICKENFOOT DVD…I GAVE THEM AN HONEST OPEN MINDED CHANCE AND I LOVE OLD SCHOOL SATCH AND WE ALL LOVE MIKEY, BUT IF SAMMY WANTS US TO BELIEVE THAT THE MUSIC HE’S WRITTEN WITH JOE IS IN ANY WAY CLEVER, ORIGINAL, CATCHY, MEMORABLE, SAMMY NEEDS TO GO BACK AND LISTEN TO THE ALBUMS HE DID WITH EDDIE. AND EDDIE’S CHARM, ATTITUDE AND STAGE PRESENCE SEPERATE HIM FROM ALMOST EVER OTHER GUITAR PLAYER WHETHER THEY ARE YOUNGER OR FASTER OR WHATEVER. AND DON’T GET GOING ON THE PRAYER BEFORE THE CHICKENFOOT SHOW. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE PEOPLE YOU ALWAYS SEE PRAISING A HIGHER POWER ARE THE PEOPLE WITH GREAT LIVES AND TONS OF MONEY. MAYBE I SHOULD MOVE TO ENGLAND WHERE ALMOST 50% OF THE PEOPLE DON’T BELIEVE IN GOD. YOU ARE ALL ENTITLED TO YOUR FANTASIES, BUT STOP PUSHING THEM ON THE REST OF US. WAKE UP, THE WORLD IS GENERALLY BAD, PEOPLE ARE GENERALLY SELF CENTERED AND MEAN, IT’S EASY TO BE CHEERFUL AND ALL ENLIGHTENED WHEN YOU ARE WELL OFF, BUT FOR ME WHEN MOST RELIGIONS ARE BASED ON MADE UP STORIES WE ALL KNOW ARE FALSE…THEIR IS NO BIGFOOT, THERE IS NO LOCHNESS MONSTER, THERE IS NO…FILL IN THE BLANK. SAMMY, PLEASE SHUT UP, BECAUSE I REALLY THOUGHT THE CURRENT VAN HALEN REUNION WAS INCLUDING YOU. I’M GLAD YOU CLEARED THAT UP FOR ALL OF US. WHAT AN EGO!
