Duped By The Grammys?

Rampant rumors have Van Halen making an appearance at the Grammy Nominations Concert tonight to announce their forthcoming album and tour. It was the Grammy’s themselves who started the rumor.

Yet some of our sources have been telling us that they can’t confirm the rumored appearance, and others have flat out told us that it was never anything but a rumor in the first place, started by the Grammys. Whatever the case, other than the original rumor, we haven’t heard anything that would lead us to believe that the band is involved in the show tonight. Put it this way… if the band does actually make an appearance they are much better at keeping secrets than we’ve ever imagined!

The only good news today is that we’ve heard that JANUARY is the month that the band plans to make their official announcement about their album and tour. The album and tour are still scheduled for early 2012.

I fully concur.

These past 3+ years have been WEIRDER THAN FUCK. Dave has never been this quiet for this long ever since he hit the national scene in 1978. I still firmly believe he’s under a strict gag order from Eddie, although recent reports say that “no one orders Dave around” or the band bent over backwards to make him happy on the Interscop deal.

Eddie still calls the shots in Van Halen — and I’ve never been happy with that. From 1978 to 1984, Sir Diamond Lee was the fuckin’ BOSS and things went spectacular. This whole idea of muzzling Dave is backfiring on Eddie in very serious ways — serious enough to put a huge dent on sales of the new album and possibly hurt attendance numbers on the upcoming tour. Wake up, Ed!

FOR FUCK’S SAKE —- PUT DAVE BACK IN CHARGE OF VAN HALEN —- AND THE SUN WILL SHINE AGAIN.

Yep, I sure am. I’m going back over the past several months and seeing one thing for sure: Van Halen is always expected to release something or appear here or there and they never do. A new album in January? That’s 30 days away. The media blitz should be now. There isn’t one, as we can clearly see.

Also, you have to understand this band is from a different time. Bands back in VH’s glory days just didnt notify the fans of every move. You literally woke up one day and heard there was a new album. I really feel VH doesnt think they should update every move. In a way, I respect that. BUT, when you have a Facebook page, a website, a Twitter account, etc…that sort of obligates you to say SOMETHING. One word from someone would hold over the diehard true blue fans like us…what a band!! so frustrating, but jeesh, I love em. LoL. Rock on Mighty VH !!!!

@whipergirl I support and confirm what you’ve posted. I was silly enough to go the Grammy’s Nomination Live! event as well. I too was there before the doors opened at 5:30. I paid extra for the VIP privileges. Wifey & I figured the 2nd performance of Lady Gaga at the end was the filler for the missing performance. Class action lawsuit!

Oh my God, and now there are two. I’m soooo happy. I did not pay more for VIP privileges, but I was all over that monitor section. I was asking the workers about Van Halen. I have to get in the middle of things. The monitor showed the order, and it said as its last entry Lady Gaga verse 1. So there was no planned Verse 2. Lady Gaga’s last performance was planned, but not verse 2. Also Ludicrous stretched. That was obvious. I guess it was the Beach Boys though, not VH. There is a way to do a lawsuit. That would be fun to do. Should I????? I need something to make me famous. Ha ha.

I hope you and your wife had fun. Did you all go to that after-party with the red wristbands? My friend and I went, for a little bit anyway. Also, thanks for the support on my posts. BTW, there is an ice rink out front. I am a mean ice skater. That would have been better. I wish I had known where you were sitting. We could have started screaming VH, VH.

And since when were the Beach Boys a major band in the 80s? Or 70s for that matter? big of them to take the blame. How much do you think they were paid?

VH – this isn’t how to do it these days. Transparency, with the blow-by-blow backstage “negotiations” is how you make dysfunctionality entertaining in the Internet age. You need a PR team.

VHND should get your story to the band and they should give you a couple of front row tix and backstage passes for when they play the Staples Center next year.

@whispergirl – firstly, thanks for your posts on this story! Amazing how many posts and how much anger and stuff has come about from Van Halen not doing what they never offically said they were doing…so, a possible lawsuit eh? That would surely be fairly decent way to get Netflix – or the Grammy`s themselves? Let`s look at the evidence we have built up to suggest we had every reasonable chance to expect VH to make an announcement on the 30th.

Any decent judge would have to agree that you had a fair case for believing it will be VH – we have heard for a few years that an album is being worked on, a world tour will follow, Shanks tweeted the EVH amp from the studio, loads of guys have heard bits from the record (Dweezil, Alter Bridge), VHND have told us the record is completed and mixed, the last new DLR/VH songs got an announcement at a big music industry thing, we`ve been told to “Get Ready” for months, the Soundwave thing and so on and on…put all this with a tweet saying will this band`s announcement make you want to “Jump” and “DTNA”? I don`t remember any tweets about Surfin` or making pet sounds. So, go for it Whispergirl!!!! We`ll have a collection to pay your legal fees!

PS. I wonder if Ed would have fired his publicist by now if, well, he wasn`t married to her. Gotta say, it`s a good thing Janie has looks as her PR skills suck. Can`t believe Dave is happy with this situation – whatever Leaps might say, for how long do we have to be getting ready?

At least your 27-year old friend has only been waiting for a new record for a few days now – not waiting what would be her entire life – for a new record with Dave…

I think I heard the best explanation for this yesterday. Sony/Columbia have a tight relationship with the Grammy’s. The only official word we have about Van Halen is that the band signed with Interscope, a west coast label. David Lee Roth wanted this deal and the rest of the band went along. It is possible that somewhere along the way, a quarter of the band agreed to do the Grammy’s while the other quarter was working on this deal with Interscope. No harm in saying that Van Halen might have appeared on the Grammy’s if they meant to announce their reunion with Sony/Columbia. That that deal went down probably skewed plans to make that announcement on that particular show, at that particular time. One thing for sure is that the album will probably be bigger than ever and Van Halen are looking for the best promotion, best legacy deal they can find. They couldn’t proceed on any tour plans or appearances until ink was dry on a deal. So just relax, it’s coming. As it is in music business, you can’t represent until you got the right to represent. So it’s taking some time

I dont care if it was Led Zeppelin who were the real no shows at the grammys instead of Van Halen. The fans who are upset are the correct ones, and im not just talking about this latest episode with the grammy show. Good luck to us and the band in 2012.

I’m one the biggest VH fans alive! But I have to admit, I so frickin sick and tired of the bull crap! This is gonna happen, now it’s not gonna happen. This might be released on this date, then its not gonna be released. WTF Van Halen!!!! Just FU@KI! released the damn album we’ve all been waiting for!!

@littlecatvroom: when I was 12, my family moved from Calgary (Canada) to a hotel in Shreveport Lousiana (where I drove room service crazy all summer). I had one pet then: a hamster (okay really it was a gerbil, but since there are rumors afloat that I am not even a girl, ha ha, I dare not admit that!!!). The airline was not equiped to bring my gerbil on the plane. It was just my mom and two siblings. I was the oldest, and felt compared to take care of my mom. (She was scared, I was not.) I told the person at the counter, I would sue if my pet did not get to move with me, then asked for supervisors all the way until the airline pilot agreed to put my little pet and his travel cage in the cockpit. That was my first effort in lobbying for something. I’m not really going to do anything, other than send the email letter I already sent, but if I had time, boy would it be fun….. Thanks for the good words.
