Sammy’s Holiday Greeting 2010 and “Santa’s Going South For Christmas”

From Redrocker.com:

Happy Holidays!

Redheads!

What a great event we had this past weekend in Mill Valley. Great food, great music, and a preview of the new film. We collected an unbelievable pile of toys and raised much needed funding for our friends at Homeward Bound, Ritter Center and the 142 Throckmorton Theatre Scholarship fund. It always feels great to give a big check to someone this time of year and it’s all because of you people. A big thanks to all that came out to support these great charities. I love you.

We also got a lot of love from the crowd about “Go There Once, Be There Twice” – the new movie about the Cabo Bash. I’m super excited to share that with the rest of you in the New Year.

It was really a slammin’ party complete with Mariachi band, tacos, and of course the Waboritas were flowing! Oh and as you may have heard, Bob Weir and Mickey Hart showed up to jam with us onstage. Check out the YouTube evidence and here is a backstage Xmas message for you…

One of these days someone needs to make a really good movie about Van Halen. While their at it they should make a Pink Floyd movie too.

Panama Red: The man, the myth the legend. Agreed man, VH hasn’t got a decent movie yet. It’s too bad.

And how great to see that the Red Rocker is still giving some love to his fans, (and multiple charitees). That cats got his heart in the right place.

  • BentFender

The man never stops! God bless him. Can’t imagine the last 40 years without him

  • CEO

Great tune!! Sammy should get that recorded on the next “A Very Special Christmas” or other charity CD so that it can get mass exposure. Could easily be a Christmas classic if others started playing it too.

  • Panama Red

No Mas Tony – I thought you stopped coming to this website for good. I’ve been down and out for a while myself. But anyway, Welcome back bro!
One of the things I like about Sammy is that he is always doing stuff. He’s so active and prolific. Man, I wish I had that much energy. I will never understand how he has stayed so young. It’s insane, he’s in his sixties and it seems like he’s in his early forties. And I admire that fact that he is so generous and giving to charities too. He’s a good dude.
Anyway, Yeah I talked about how cool a VH movie would be on this site in the past.
They could make one with the DLR era and then a sequel for Sammy era.
Cherone could be in the “deleted scenes” on the DVD extras. :)
A mini series on HBO or Showtime would be cool too. I know there’s very little chance of that ever happening but it sure as hell would be cool if it was done well.
Later No Mas Tony, glad that name stuck ha ha.

@ Panama Red — Yeah bro, I noticed you hadn’t posted on here in awhile. I missed reading your comments. I liked your idea for the Van Halen movie. Hagar is amazing. His energy and passion is phenomenal. I’ll admit, I wasn’t a huge Sammy fan at first, but that guy has earned so much respect from me for his constant activity & charity work. Hey, did you catch CF doing the “Foxy Lady” cover? That blew me away. I can’t wait for the foot’s next album! Anyhoo, I stopped commenting on this site ‘cause I noticed that they weren’t posting them anymore so I figured I was being too annoying. (Sorry if that was the case). But I decided to chill out and start posting again. (I did comment a couple times last month as “Just Some Dude”) So anyway, since PANAMA RED is back, No Mas is too. LOL. “No Mas” as in no mas tequila. Hah hah

LOL @ phillster’s comment, “Oh yeah….that goes for all the X-bandmembers too.LOL” Right on, well hey… you did technically wish the Red Rocker a Happy Holiday. I guess by ex-bandmembers, you mean all the guys that are still making music. ;-) LOL. Oh, but of course, the brothers are apparently making music too… and I can’t wait to hear it.

2011 is gonna rock big time! Happy new year all you “VHND FREAKS” as Kayser says. That goes to all ya’ll!, PANAMA RED, KAYSER, ANDYM, FREDDIE GIRL, 50-SOMETHING, DIRTY DUCK, SCAR, PHILLSTER, DOOLEE, DIAMOND DEAN, ETC, ETC… (SURE I’M MISSING LOTS)

  • Panama Red

@ No Mas Tony – That sucks about your comments being deleted. I’ve read plenty of annoying comments but I always liked reading yours, maybe that’s cause it seems like we agree on most things when it comes to VH. :)

I was going through some tough times lately. It’s amazing how much music has helped me get through stuff. If it wasn’t for Metallica I wouldn’t have made it through the 80′s. It sounds like I’m joking but I seriously owe a lot to the guys in Metallica. Anyway recently I was going through some of my old stuff and I found a VHS tape of a Van Halen concert I recorded years ago. It was the pay per view Toronto show (1995 I think) The tape is old and a little screwed up in areas but seeing Eddie healthy during his amazing solo, hearing Alex’s awesome drum solo and listening to songs like ‘feelin was therapudic. It made my day finding that tape and watching it for the first time in years.
Anyway I’m sorry, I still ramble on and on as much as I ever did. But I wish they would release that consert on DVD. Eddie looked really healthy and sounded awesome. He had some meat on his bones and seemed happy. I sure do miss that guy sometimes.
I hope to shoot the breeze with ya some more “No Mas” about VH in later days.
