July 29th, 2010 at 6:02 am
How gives RATS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Comon guys really????
July 29th, 2010 at 6:40 am
A pretty good ( in so much as I think it worked, not that I liked it ) mash up of 2 songs that a really don’t care for 1 little bit only made worse by the fact I had to watch 3:30 of it to even see what VH was in there. And it didn’t work either. Not too sure this will be getting any rave reviews.
July 29th, 2010 at 7:35 am
well done but still stupid. mashups are always idiotic at best
July 29th, 2010 at 7:58 am
awful, i had to watch manly gaga and matchbox or w.e shit songs, then the VH was 2 sec and it barely worked, VH can kick both of ther asses
July 29th, 2010 at 8:20 am
Even though Van Halen was in the video for a few seconds, please don’t post Lady Gaga anymore!! YUCK!
July 29th, 2010 at 8:31 am
G – A – Y!
July 29th, 2010 at 9:06 am
I like Santana’s “Smooth”…..but mixing Lady Gaga with Van Halen is like mixing diarrhea (Gaga) with jet fuel (VH) — sooner or later it’s going to explode and then you’re just covered in stinky flaming shit.
July 29th, 2010 at 9:14 am
Man, “Lady” Gaga is not attractive, or entertaining at all. I fail to see what others “See” in her. Maybe I am too old. This video is a waste of time. Even the Mighty Van Halen could not save this rubbish.
July 29th, 2010 at 9:33 am
I can’t believe the negative comments. Do you people appreciate anything other than VH?
July 29th, 2010 at 9:40 am
Geez, people. “Smooth” is an incredibly good song. I never listened to Lady Gaga before, but she has a great voice. Roth’s vocals fit the song perfectly. Someone did a great job on this. You people complaining seem small minded.
July 29th, 2010 at 9:46 am
I was at a club in Vegas a couple weeks ago and they did a mix of Enter Sandman by Metallica with Lady Ga Ga. It actually sounded pretty cool. I was surprised. I am not a huge fan of some of that stuff, but for a club vibe it worked. This version we just watched sucked because we had to sit to the end to se VH. If there was more VH then it probably would been cooler. However as I hear in my head, “Finish What You Strarted” may have worked with this riff. I hear the verses playing with this riff. I could be wrong.
July 29th, 2010 at 10:56 am
Musically speaking, VJ Magic Man did a great job. Although I don’t really care for Gaga, you have to acknowledge the fact that that mashup is very well structured. Good job, man!
Out!
July 29th, 2010 at 12:06 pm
Ouch! The end is near…
July 29th, 2010 at 1:51 pm
I will probably not come back to this site for a while now. That was ROTTEN.
July 29th, 2010 at 2:26 pm
Thought it was pretty good although i thought the VH part messed it up.
Hearing DLR was fine but seeing the “jump” video in there was just weird.
I would have used DLR’s vocal but left the “Jump” video out of it.
July 29th, 2010 at 2:27 pm
Gotta post something every day or two, right? Need those comments & fresh content, even if it’s neither Van Halen related nor news
July 29th, 2010 at 2:43 pm
Open your minds, you complaining wackos! That was well done. It’s cool to see that someone who likes Ms. Gaga would pick a VH song to use. And it worked great.
I think the VHND does a great job coming up with things to feature, but many times when I read the comments that people leave, I’m disgusted. Is the VH fan base really this closed minded? Just because a VH mashup has Lady Gaga or Santana you think it SUCKS? You people disgust me. Where are the intelligent VH fans?
I’m not knocking everyone who posts on this site… there are a lot of cool people on here that have something intelligent and interesting to say… but there seem to be a lot of high school dropouts as well…
Maybe it’s like this on other music news sites? Not just VHND? If so, God help us. Perhaps the VHND shouldn’t even allow comments. My opinion of the average VH fan sure has gone down since I started reading the comments. Perhaps the VHND should simply delete all the idiotic comments so we wouldn’t have to wade through them to get to the ones with substance? VHND?
July 29th, 2010 at 3:12 pm
I’d like to nominate B.F. for the position if it comes up!
July 29th, 2010 at 3:26 pm
Lady Gaga should not even be in the same video as Legends Like Van Halen and Carlos Santana.
And Van Halen was only in the video for a couple seconds.
Its Bad Enough That I Had To Sit Through The Whole Video Listening To Lady Gagas Horrible Robotic voice.
July 29th, 2010 at 4:04 pm
VHND posts this stuff because there is nothing else to post about VH – the mash up was fine – but I can’t believe I watched that for 2 seconds of VH
July 29th, 2010 at 4:31 pm
How fkn stupid was that.
July 29th, 2010 at 4:31 pm
Wow…..so many Gaga fans in here and it doesnt sit well with me. Do you people even understand that Lady Gaga is the exact opposite of Van Halen in every way possible? She’s a no-talent, manufactured studio creation who needs a large team of “creative consultants” in order to make her art. She absolutely sucks live — watch any of her concert clips on YouTube and she sounds winded because she’s so out of shape (reminds me of a 2004 Van Hagar show).
Roth Van Halen was a homegrown phenomenon who had talent ingrained into their DNA. They were born to be musicians and entertainers. Like Dave once said — “All we need is one light bulb and a pair of jeans and we’ll give you a great show”. That is the essence of classic VH and I’m very sad that some of you just dont get it.
July 29th, 2010 at 4:56 pm
To “Roth Zealot,”
I don’t think there are many Lady Gaga fans here at all. In other words, you might be the only one who was moved to watch her performances on Youtube, as you admitted.
And believe me, I do indeed totally “get” the essence of old Van Halen. And I think everyone who comes to VHND – even the ones who’s knuckles drag closer to the ground than most (“That SUCKED!”) – do understand that you can’t get more opposite than Lady Gaga and old VH.
But you sure seem like the type of person that doesn’t like ANY music but old VH. You don’t even like the music that your favorite band made after their original singer left, let alone other genres of music! Just because one LOVES old VH does not mean that they need to hate everything else.
July 29th, 2010 at 5:25 pm
I come here to get away from that Lady Gaga shit.
July 29th, 2010 at 5:29 pm
Why do liberals always think they are ahead of the curve?Give me a beer and some old VH and let’s play jeopardy powder puffs.
July 29th, 2010 at 5:59 pm
B.F…. I Agree with you 120%… and the mashup was very well done.
Thank you VHND! I really enjoyed watching this!
July 29th, 2010 at 6:50 pm
Wow… have to say something, only because I just sang the praises of the News Desk in a comment recently, and now I feel like they’re testing me! I suppose it’s not a total crime, as VH was in there. While I’m not a Lady Gaga fan, I thought the Santana/Gaga combination was really well done. However, VH was totally out of place on all levels, especially since it was one brief glimpse instead of equal time. If the VH footage could have conceivably been included by accident, I would believe that’s what happened! It’s like a VH fan came in while he was mixing it, put a gun to his head and said,”Put my boys in there, or else!”
I don’t think it’s closed minded to knock the News Desk for this. I think “RA 8 1 2″ had one of the most open minded comments and still didn’t like the video. First saying positive things for mashups, then expressing disappointment in the video, then thinking of a way to improve upon it. Right on. The point is, whatever your opinion of the other artists in the video, the lack of VH is too great for this site.
If I had seen this elsewhere without description, I would have enjoyed the surprise of VH appearing, but still thought, “what the…? That was odd!” Even as a hardcore fan, I wouldn’t have been been disappointed to miss this. Now that I’ve complained though, what guidelines do we offer for what they should bring us? Thousands of fans with thousands of opinions. We come for our steak and lobster, but I guess we gotta eat our peas once in awhile.
July 29th, 2010 at 7:25 pm
Hey B.F.,
I never said I hate everything besides classic VH. I just find Gaga’s music to be contrived and corny. She calls herself a “performance artist” and not a musician — she’s on the same level as David Copperfield and Carrot Top. Diamond Dave said it best on the 2007 reunion tour — “Please come and judge us harshly”. Well, I’ve had enough time to judge Lady Gaga and it’s forgettable dance club music crap.
Same goes with Chickenfoot. I was never interested in hearing Hagar repeatedly sing about how much he loves being a 62 yr. old millionaire Mexican beach bum — the same old tired junk. I’ve judged him harshly and he’s an epic fail.
I’ve had decades to harshly judge Roth Van Halen and it still sends chills up my my spine when I crank “Fair Warning” loud and proud — just like I did when I was 14 yrs. old and spinning that album on my cheap little Sears turntable. Here we are 30 years later and that brilliant music still moves our souls — who’s gonna say the same about Lady Gaga or Chickenfoot three decades from now?
I think you see my point…..
July 29th, 2010 at 7:28 pm
Please remove that from the VHND website immediately. Thank you.
July 29th, 2010 at 7:41 pm
Clever. But does the world need any more attention paid to skanks like this? I think not.
July 29th, 2010 at 9:32 pm
Actually I agree with Chester and whoever else has the same sentiment. Remove this immediately. The two seconds of Jump does not make it worth the inclusion.
The VH part doesn’t work, at all. It’s a great mash up, untill that silly little pointless inclusion. It’s not news worthy, and should probably be removed.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:02 pm
On a more positive note…the video was well done until the Van Halen part. It just made no sense to include Van Halen. As for the VHND…keep up the good work, I know you guys are trying.
July 29th, 2010 at 11:11 pm
Same here neil5150!
July 30th, 2010 at 2:47 am
Wow, love all the ‘real music or die’ crap going on here! That was cool. Sure, there’s more talent in one teaspoon of Roth’s cum than there is in the whole of Lady Ga Ga but that was still good. Maybe some of you should try to just enjoy music rather than using it as a way of proving something worthy about yourselves. That was a good tune – doesn’t have to be anything more or anything less, it’s just a song. O.K. so it didn’t have much to do with Van Halen but, hey, there ain’t much doing with Van Halen these days anyway.
July 30th, 2010 at 3:15 am
lady who
July 30th, 2010 at 6:37 am
I’m not into Lady Gaga’s music but what the fuck, I’d let her lady gaga on top of me all night long!!!!!
July 30th, 2010 at 6:39 am
Roth Zealot 78 you make me laugh ( ………in a good way. I’ve just read my comment back and it sounds sarcastic but isn’t meant to be so apologies. No offense meant. ) I love peoples passion on here. Really enjoyable and there is no question about DLR with VH and shivers. As time passes I still find it growing on me. But you contradict yourself hugely regarding SH, and I quote you :
62 yr. old millionaire
he’s an epic fail
Surely they can not both be true. You clearly do not like him and that sits fine with me, even though I do think he is a very talented musician and businessman, albeit with a pen·chant for cheesy lyrics. I can see why people do not like him, I really do. Don’t get me wrong. But a guy who has achieved all that he has achieved can not be an epic fail.
But I do get you don’t like him.
July 30th, 2010 at 7:15 am
For the folks who are listening to something more recent than that which was recorded 30 years ago….yeah, the Foot is pretty awesome. Time for Joe Dirt to cut the mullet, sell the Hemi and accept reality.
—————
Lady Gaga and Van Halen in the same sentence goes together like Mother Theresa and Stalin. Please.
July 30th, 2010 at 9:20 am
Hey Rob,
Sammy may be a millionaire because of cantinas and tequila sales, but he’s an epic fail as an artist. All the halfway decent songs he’s ever written can be counted on one hand. His music never changed the course of rock history like Roth-era Van Halen did.
Like I said in a previous post, Sammy is a very insecure person and he always sings about being a spoiled beach bum —- it’s very boring stuff. David Lee Roth grew up the son of a wealthy doctor who lived in a palatial mansion in Pasadena, but I never heard Dave brag about how rich he was in his songs. Dave did things for his art, Sammy does stuff to make money.
July 30th, 2010 at 10:24 am
The fault here is Van Halen’s! If Mr. Edward Van Halen is not gonna make an album just say so
July 30th, 2010 at 1:44 pm
Sorry Roth Zealot, he’s not an epic fail as an artist. It can’t be denied the legions of fans, the music produced and sold, and a career spanning decades. People still flock to see him.
He may be an epic fail to you because you don’t dig his stuff. Others do, so he is not.
You can’t begin to count the artists that have not changed rock music. If that’s the criteria, then what do we have left? Everyone sucks but 10 artists or bands?
Further, what do you think financed his additional interests? Right, it was the money he earned from music.
I can tell you know slightly more than nothing about him. To pigeon hole him as only writing songs about being a beach bum affirms this.
You write intelligently and with passion, which I can appreciate. Since you do, wouldn’t you think it’s only fair to acknowledge that “you feel or think” whatever it is that you care to post.
To make such an outlandish claim and attempt to preach it as gospel, is only foolhardly.
July 30th, 2010 at 1:52 pm
Scar, that chick scares the hell outta me. But for some morbidly curious reason I think I might feel the same way as you!
July 31st, 2010 at 4:35 am
I can’t believe you people. Yes, I hate Lady Gaga but apart from jump, that was absolutely brilliant. These people want to show you something good and all you care about is the next VH album!!
July 31st, 2010 at 8:00 am
Herb, well said!!
Roth Zealot 78……listen to Herb. I don’t quite understand how a perceiveably intelligent person as yourself, can call someone an epic failure, just because you don’t like him. An intelligent person would look at all the facts first before spouting such a comment. I don’t like Donald Trump, but I would NEVER consider him an epic failure in what he does. I absolutely love Eddie,Dave,Alex, and yes even Mike…..wolfie too, but there has not been much in a long time to prove their “epic success” but I respect them enough to realise that at no matter what point that they are in their professional lives, they could never be considered EPIC FAILURES. At least Sammy has kept the good rock and roll flag waving for 40 some odd years to present day, through all the sludge music that has passed down the pike along the way……there is no way that could be considered a failure in any reasonable persons mind.
Also, I do not like Lady gaga, or Rob Thomas (I do like Santana), but I sure as hell do respect what this guy has done with mixing the two together…..the 2 songs really do mash up together quite brilliantly, and this guy is quite good in his personal form of artistry.
July 31st, 2010 at 9:47 am
The VH seemed like an afterthought. The mash up was surprisingly good though. In closing, I wish there was some real VH news to talk about.
August 4th, 2010 at 3:11 am
Oh boy Lady gag me NO Santana Yes Van Halen of course together NAW!!!!!!!
