The only two members that showed up for the ceremony aren’t even on the game! That being said, Van Halen WAS one of the most accomplished bands in the world. They have drifted into a reclusive/nostalgic state of being. But then again, they did get laid a lot back in the 80′s.

  • Mark

    Yawn.

Does anyone outside of the die hards really even care about this?

  • Canes_fan5150

Is it just me or do some of the vocals sound rerecorded?
I am so excited to get this game Christmas morning.

  • TooWalrus

Game’s a terrible disappointment, I’ve had it for a few months now, it’s neat… but could have been SO much better.

  • Mississippi King

    -six months later-

    “Guitar Hero: Van HAGAR”
    ..hello baaahhbbyyyy!!

  • Dooley

    Yes !!!!

The long awaited new material from Van Halen has finally arrived !!!

  • ben

Great way to get the Classics to the younger generation.

  • walteR

They need to stop milking the fans… Say what you want about Sammy & Mike but,, they have been productive since being booted by King Edward… The longer VH waits,, the greater the likelyhood of that flame of passion to make new music with burn out..

  • Top Jimmy

What’s up with the shitty timing? You’d think they might wanna make this available way before Christmas instead of at the last possible minute.

  • G-Dog

I agree with the timing Top Jimmy. And to not even have Mike and Sammy on this game is a real silly situation. Someday… a certain someone is gonna realize he did the WRONG thing. No one makes it to the top ALONE! Hey, if he wants to ignore the Mike and Sammy era, then maybe he shouldn’t make the money off of that music either anymore. I’m sure Sammy and Mike would like to have it. Wake up ED! This machine IS bigger than you are. Lame Game!

  • SCAR

Easy you drama queens, it’s just a game!!! Sounds like Santa has lots of lumps of coal to deliver this year!!! Ho, Ho, (toke) Ho!!!!!! Here hit this and get some holiday cheer……..

  • Kimberly

I can’t wait for Eddie to read all these optimistic comments for inspiration.

Van Halen Tour 2010– For the “fans”.

I like this game..at least it isn’t guitar hero the Jonas Brothers *GAGS*

  • Dooley

    Kimberly…

All Ed has to do for inspiration is to check out what his former bandmates have done in 2009.

Just like a real friend, a real fan will deliver a kick in
    the ass when needed.

  • http://mewisemagic van halenerd

how about a dvd of the last tour…

  • garysamuelroth

I bought it yesterday. Two Best Buys and a Game Stop were sold out before I found one copy left at another Game Stop. I was surprised that the demand was high for it where I live. Nevertheless, I wrapped it up and put it under the tree for my family to enjoy on Christmas day.

I’m looking forward to experiencing the music I love in a whole new way. Despite the varied opinions about what is and what should be in the game, the only thing I expect is to have a good time playing it. For right now, that’s good enough (heh heh).

  • kayser sozay

I got this a couple months ago with the special offer they ran where you buy Guitar Hero 5 and you get Guitar Hero VH for free. I’m glad I did. The band is a total joke now but there is no denying the classic VH sound. My two sons are now fans of classic VH simply because of this game, which is great.

  • RickieVanWhalen

    A Festivus Miracle

  • Kimberly

Well Dooley, if you think as fans we deserve to kick him in the butt and pretend like we know his life then be my guest. A real fan will have faith in their artist no matter what they choose to do. It is not my place to order a legend around.

But its cool, we all have our opinions!

  • chris.omeara

You’re right on, Dooley- tell ‘em! Kimberly- no disrespect, but when an “artist” stops producing art, they are no longer an artist…

  • Kimberly

Haha no way man…you have no idea whether or not he is making art! And an artist isn’t someone who makes music for other people. Its for yourself, honestly, why should he try and make us happy? You can argue all you want, but you guys are the ones that caused him to say all that in his last interview! Not me! Lol, I fully support Ed in whatever he chooses to do. Cause I love and respect him enough to know that his happiness is what matters most.

Its cool, you can hate on me, but at the end of the day he STILL isn’t giving us anything more than likely because of people who are sitting around complaining as if they know his life and mind.

  • Atomic Punk

I got this for my birthday Monday….giddyup…it rocks!!!! Long live the Mighty Van Halen!!!!!!

  • garysamuelroth

I agree with Kimberly’s last post. Van Halen does not work for us, nor do we have any idea what happens behind closed doors. Besides, Van Halen is a brand that does not have to be built and their legacy is solidified, so anything they do from this point on is done from personal desire rather than supplying a demand. After countless shows that supported ten studio albums, one live album, and two compilations, I think the band has earned the right to do whatever they want to do.

Listen, I am critic just like the rest of you. But I think many forget about what we have. Guitar Hero Van Halen has nothing to do with the drama we continue to debate over. It is about where the band is now. With the exception of the 3 tour, the Roth years were largely ignored for 20 years until the 2007-08 tour. This game celebrates the music of those early years with the band that exists now. I, for one, am very happy about that.

  • Trouser Snake

Good for you Kimberly! Stay positive! Most of the people bitching about “no new music” are just bitching because they can’t bitch about a new album until it comes out! Then they’ll be crying and bitching!!!

  • Trouser Snake

    chris.omeara,

Maybe someone should tell all those art collector’s that collect Van-go’s that he’s “DEAD” and no longer an artist!! They’re just wasting their money!!!

  • Pete

    Happy Birthday ATOMIC PUNK!!!!!!

As usual, DOOLEY and the KAYSER have said it better than I could. Therefore, “what is understood need not be discussed”.

    Peace everyone,

    Pete

  • JRL5150

MAN, I wish everyone was included!!!!!

  • http://vhnd.com 51yr old fan

I do agree with everyone that VH doesn’t owe us anything, but eddie should have bowed out gracefully. I’m a HUGE sports fan and I can tell you that there have been many athletes who ruined their legacy by going out on top then coming back only to disappoint. but no matter what, I will continue to hope for the best for the band and i will keep listening. like many people have said on here that they truly were the soundtrack of my best years.

  • http://www.qereach.com K. Reyoch

I got it the morning of the 22nd. Was there @ 10 AM, making the staff go in the back and get it. Not my fault it wasn’t on the shelves yet.

By 10:12 AM, I’d been booed off the stage twice on Eruption in easy mode, the fans wouldn’t let me continue. Glass is half full though; nowhere but up to go. I’ve progressed to intermediate mode; I’ll be damned if that blue button ain’t a sumbit*#! Fans are still booing. Loudly.

The wife, daughters and I are totally hooked. With the snow and all, it won’t be worth getting on the roads today. Think we’ll have a family Wii-apalooza.

Foo Fighters “Best of Me” is cool too.

  • http://none Dirty Duck

They made dave look like “the beast” from that old school TV show “Beauty and the beast” Ugh….

  • Dooley

Guitar Hero and everything about it is fake.
The VH 2007-2008 tour was real.
The Chickenfoot release in 2009 was real.
Here’s to hoping for something real from Ed, Alex, Dave & Wolf in 2010. And, yes, new material is required to avoid a big letdown. Ed said he’s got loads of stuff put away that can be worked up and released. Dave said at the onset of the last tour that this is a new band with a future, not just a pasture. His words. I hope they meant it.
Merry Christmas to all on this site!!

  • Kimberly

    Merry Christmas to you too:)

Here’s to…future Van Halen? Haha we sure hope so!

And I am just throwing it out there that we always talk about what we think of the band well..I think WE all ROCK!! For sticking around this long? Heck ya, I am proud to be a VH fan..at least we know its real!

    Love you guys!

  • Dooley

    K…

you’re such a sweetie. and I still got a visual of you modeling the VH form fitting T’s high beams included !!

    Dave would approve.

  • G-Dog

SCAR must be Eddie Himself. HO HO(TOKE)HO. All that weed going to his head.LOL!

  • Kimberly

    Dooley..I’m game:)

    You rockk!

  • halenhagar

I bought it for my 10 year old son, first thing from his mouth was, where is the song from the Power Ranger Movie ?????

    “Dreams” by Van Halen

Dumb move Eddie leaving out the younger generation fans for Van Halen, could have sold a lot more, and made a lot more $$$$$$$

  • David

What I don’t get is that there are no guitar straps on Ed and Wolf….what gives?
