OH GOD NOOOOOOOOOO!!!
December 3rd, 2009 at 9:19 am
I’ve always thought that network prime-time was a vast wasteland (except for sports telecasts, Simpsons, Family Guy, The Office, …that’s about it). This confirms it.
December 3rd, 2009 at 9:42 am
I think I just puked in my mouth a little…
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:07 am
Cringe. So it is possible to fecalize classic material.
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:16 am
GLEE-SUS CHRIST!
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:24 am
I can only think of one hell, and one hell only. It would be this Glee version of Jump and Roth’s Strum’n with the Devil version…..back to back……for eternity.
Dear “God of New Material”…please grace us with your power to bless the presence of new VH material among us soon…..If it is your will, I can sacrifice Gary Cherone as an offering to appease you…
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:37 am
easily the worst cover ever!!! Should be on the Bravo channel
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:40 am
More captivating VH news.
December 3rd, 2009 at 11:17 am
OH… My… GOD!!! Vurp!
December 3rd, 2009 at 11:17 am
Ugh….
December 3rd, 2009 at 11:28 am
My wife and I saw it last night.. Cool that the newer generation can appreciate classic VH.. But,,,, the killed a classic…
December 3rd, 2009 at 11:37 am
This was done a few years ago by some guys at MIT. See link:

December 3rd, 2009 at 11:38 am
Is nothing sacred?
December 3rd, 2009 at 11:45 am
Forget the haters! Sure its a cheezy campy remake of a classic Van Halen song, but lets remember that its being reintroduced to millions of fans on television! Its a cover, ladies and gents…thats all.
December 3rd, 2009 at 11:53 am
I thought it couldnt get any worse that DLR doing a blue grass version of that. Ok maybe its a tie.
December 3rd, 2009 at 12:09 pm
The solo wasn’t half bad…
December 3rd, 2009 at 12:17 pm
I thought it was quite a “happy” version…..then i thought again. AHHHHH!!!
December 3rd, 2009 at 12:20 pm
I’d rather crawl through 4 miles of broken glass then be subjected to that again.
December 3rd, 2009 at 12:39 pm
Good one russ! LOL
December 3rd, 2009 at 1:04 pm
@ Andrew… it’s vomit.
It’s tragic.
It’s a sin.
They should be ashamed and so should you.
And i thought Celine Deion’s version of you shook me all night long was the worst. Looks like we have a new front-runner.
December 3rd, 2009 at 2:39 pm
… i was just getting over a cold and then almost fell into a coma when i heard that… people have seriously got nothing better to do than ruin, trash or simple demolish good ol’ classics these days. so many re-dues and so many do overs… will it ever end????
December 3rd, 2009 at 2:44 pm
I’m in the majority here and I actually agree with Duck! That was the gayest thing I’ve ever heard from a VH song with the exception of Josephina from III.
PS – great comment mad anthony!
December 3rd, 2009 at 3:13 pm
That rocked!
December 3rd, 2009 at 3:14 pm
I just threw up a little bit.
December 3rd, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Sounds like Alvin and Chipmunk on all of the backing stuff. Being English and now living in Australia I just wondered what all of this ‘ Glee ‘ stuff is as I have never heard of it. Just worth knowing so that I can avoid it as it is obviously appalling. Thanks in advance.
December 3rd, 2009 at 3:39 pm
I’d rather have root canal work along with being given a Prince Albert piercing by a gay man with salty hands while listening to Kenny G cover Van Halen III than listen to that piece of trash again.
December 3rd, 2009 at 4:25 pm
very poor cover plus they just replicated the album vocals with lame girly voices totally ruined in my opinion if they were really researching this (im not that much a sammy fan but) the way he adds to that song vocally on live stuff could have been replicated a little bit i give it a d-
December 3rd, 2009 at 4:33 pm
Just terrific!
Keepin my hopes up for the GLEE version of Slayer’s
“Alter of Sacrifice” too.
December 3rd, 2009 at 4:37 pm
Sounds like two burritos and a root beer float if you know what I mean!
December 3rd, 2009 at 4:44 pm
You all seem to have an appreciation for only one style of music.
And I seem to be gay.
Because I liked it.
December 3rd, 2009 at 4:47 pm
Maybe they will do King Diamonds “No presents for X Mas!”
December 3rd, 2009 at 5:19 pm
Different……the solo was pretty close. Is wolfies girl in Glee?
December 3rd, 2009 at 5:34 pm
It’s like Walt Disney ate Van Halen and crapped this out.
December 3rd, 2009 at 6:02 pm
I agree with the dude that said it’s good to hear a new generation appreciate VH. It wasn’t that bad – it’s good to hear new versions. VH is getting appreciated right now with Guitar Hero and Zombie Land and various cameo appearances etc. . . let’s be thankful they’re not forgotten.
December 3rd, 2009 at 6:48 pm
PLease stop the music!
December 3rd, 2009 at 7:01 pm
From a musical and technical standpoint I didn’t think it was THAT bad. Sure it’s not Van Halen of course. It’s supposed to be different. Some of the singing was actually pretty impressive. The solo although not as good as Eds was pretty damn good.
December 3rd, 2009 at 7:42 pm
I’d rather masterbate with a cheese grater than EVER have to see Van Halen bastardized again. King Diamond No Presents For Christmas. Lmao. I thought I was the only one who knew that. Christmas Time is here again, Satan needs our helping hands. LMAO
December 3rd, 2009 at 7:52 pm
Loved it. VH fans tend to be kinda narrow-minded, unable to listen or appreciate differences, it seems. A shame.
December 3rd, 2009 at 8:01 pm
Relax…ha just wanted to do that, but yeah. Not diggn this. I like songs with kick-ass guitar. I guess it’s good if you’re into the whole choir or acapella thing or whatever. But seriously, I don’t see how you would like that cover if you are a VH fan. If you do, whatever.
December 3rd, 2009 at 8:50 pm
Now if that doesn’t motivate Ed to get off his ass and put out some new music nothing will. I couldn’t stand the thought of a new generation of people associating that with me.
December 3rd, 2009 at 9:18 pm
Did any of you see that episode of ‘The Simpsons’ a while back and the Superbowl… The game in the show featured “Hooray For Everything.” at half time?
Need I say more?
December 3rd, 2009 at 9:19 pm
So THAT’S why I never joined the glee club in high school…
Actually, if you could cut out the smarmy vocals, it wouldn’t be bad at all. It’s just over-done. Next…
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:28 pm
The lead male vocal dude sounded like Gary Cherone. Then I threw up on my keyboard, spilled my beer, and sharted in my pants.
December 3rd, 2009 at 10:57 pm
Did anyone notice the girl screaming the ridiculous notes at the end of the keyboard solo and near the very end of the song!! geese. I didnt care for the rest of it but my God at the pipes!!
December 3rd, 2009 at 11:27 pm
I just listened to it a couple more times and I actually like it even more. I may be gay for liking it as much as I do, but I still feel like I want to fuck every chick that’s singing in the group. Kind of reminds me of when I sang in HS choir…and that was 1978 through 1980, when VH I first came out…hahahahahaha
December 4th, 2009 at 12:50 am
why is everyone on here except for a few so narrow minded to this? its done very well and its still fits the original… plus the singers are amazing! i wouldn’t say it rocks but it was no where near bad…
December 4th, 2009 at 2:57 am
“yucky!”
December 4th, 2009 at 7:59 am
Why on earth did you put this on here?
December 4th, 2009 at 7:59 am
Half on the Glee staff probably don’t even know who Van Halen is!
December 4th, 2009 at 8:42 am
I didn’t think it was as bad as most of you, but I never liked the original either so I suppose that has some bearing on it. I always thought Jump was one of the least VH-ish songs of the Dave era.
December 4th, 2009 at 9:44 am
Thats really funny Thorax.
December 4th, 2009 at 11:53 am
Um, bleah.
December 4th, 2009 at 1:14 pm
That just made me hate music for a few minutes
December 4th, 2009 at 4:36 pm

I agree with you Ron. Jump is a terrible song imo too, and its popularity really shows how rock was morphing into pop around that time … at least if you wanted to sell albums.
December 4th, 2009 at 10:22 pm
(sidebar) If Eddie is so concerned that putting out a new album won’t produce the numbers(I.E.internet piracy), then let me offer a formula to create the best album of all time. First it must have the Simple rawness, in-your-face attitude of VHI with the technically brilliant insight of FAIR WARNING, the ‘pop’ catchiness of 1984, and the concern that it took to make 5150. As fans of VAN HALEN….. WE’RE STILL HERE!!!!!!!!!
December 5th, 2009 at 1:13 am
This has got to be the lamest thing I have ever heard. Worse then Kid Incorporated!!!!
December 5th, 2009 at 7:07 am
For all you wishers of new music go read the new guitar world magazine article with Ed on the cover. He basically says it’s not worth putting out new songs because all people want to hear is the old stuff.
December 5th, 2009 at 10:14 am
Somebody drop a bomb on Glee. Jump is one of my least favorite VH songs but F Off Glee. They should round up all the people that watch that crap and stick them on a Rosie cruise.
December 5th, 2009 at 3:45 pm
I hope the scars on my wrists heal
December 5th, 2009 at 5:33 pm
It’s a compliment when someone covers your song, though some song covers deserve no compliment.
December 6th, 2009 at 2:18 am
Fantastically good.
December 6th, 2009 at 4:19 am
No! I can’t listen to the whole thing!
December 6th, 2009 at 11:24 am
OOOhhhh – I just through up in my mouth! …..
December 6th, 2009 at 8:18 pm
Remember when people were bitching about too much Chickenfoot news?
“What is understood needn’t be discussed.”
December 7th, 2009 at 12:30 pm
I always like when Sammy covered this song, thought Sam did a better job singing this than Dave did.

December 7th, 2009 at 1:24 pm
@where Dave…. That made me throw up a little too. Sorry.
December 7th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
Wheresdave:
I beg to differ.
Sam couldnt sing the dave era if he tried.
“…I got my ASS against the record machine?”
No thanks. I’ll stick with The orginal…
TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT STYLES OF SINGING….AND MUSIC MY MAN.
December 9th, 2009 at 2:28 pm
Was a pretty good cover. No it wasn’t the Wailen Halen, but I’ve heard it done worse. C’mon they are just kids for christ sake.
December 10th, 2009 at 2:24 pm
WheresDave:
That`s O.K. man,
You probably like mud too.
December 10th, 2009 at 2:26 pm

December 11th, 2009 at 6:43 am
GLEE is what television has become. A sad sack of so called talent.
Give me: Three’s company, All in the family, or The jeffersons anyday over this garbage…
December 13th, 2009 at 1:45 pm
I think the show itself is pleasantly humorous, but this was a pretty bad choice to make.
December 18th, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Instead of listening to that again, I think I would rather pleasure myself with a rusty cheese grater!
December 18th, 2009 at 2:47 pm
Sorry RickPride. Didn’t see your cheese grater comment! How about this? I would rather jump rope using barbed wire! I have listened to friends since high school tell me I was crazy for being such a VH fan because they were pop sellouts. I never have or would agree but soft serve frozen yogurt covers made for prime time TV do not help the cause. Then again, AC/DC, Ozzy, Judas Priest and on and on and on have all been victims of this kind of thing. It is a sign of the times and I’m sure our kids will one day be saying “How can they do that to Linkin Park or Korn or…whatever kids like today? Being old SUCKS!
