Right on. More non-news about VH.
November 3rd, 2009 at 2:15 pm
Cool for guitar players as Guitar Hero really doesn’t count.
I know I’ll get flamed but I prefer quite a lot of the Sammy riffs to Classic Van Halen. But if I got up on stage and played Romeo Delight or Beautiful Girls perfectly I’m sure there wouldn’t be any complaints!
It worries me that these DVDs come out now, and not after a new album…
November 3rd, 2009 at 2:17 pm
And where’s Mean Street? The reason I wanted to play Van Halen in the first place is due to that song!
November 3rd, 2009 at 2:39 pm
5 Hours for ten songs?
Do they really spend 30 minutes describing how to pluck an A Minor chord for ATBL? Or the 5 chords for RWTD? It seems like there are more worthy songs and riffs to learn than those if you have been playing guitar for any longer than a few months.
Besides, the DVD of Guitar Method in the style of Van Halen is awesome just for Curt Mitchell’s hair.

Kayser, This IS VH news. I’m going to have to get this DVD. Thanks VHND!

How much of a cut does EVH gear get? Put out some motherF-ing music already instead of peddling your $h!t.
November 3rd, 2009 at 3:35 pm
Fab,
Eddie didn’t put this out.
November 3rd, 2009 at 3:41 pm
This is really getting silly..I mean its great and all ,but we really just don’t wanna hear it lol.
Tour? New music? Sightings? ANYTHING.
November 3rd, 2009 at 5:43 pm
Again, how hard could it be for someone, perhaps VHND, to friggin’ call VH mgmnt and ask WTF is going on ?
November 3rd, 2009 at 7:06 pm
Maybe instead of making a video showing how to make us play like Eddie, we should put out a video showing Eddie how to play something new- then they could put out another video showing us how to play the NEW tunes…

Well, I for one purchased a copy of the DVD. I just bought a guitar last Christmas and haven’t had a whole lot of time, or maybe just the fact that I wanna start out and play just like him is frustrating. lol. I’m not patient. I wanna be Eddie. Anyhow I did purchase the DVD. We’ll see. Long live King Edward!!!! Everyone relax. The Mighty Van Halen will return and when they do, they do it in a major way!!!! It’s coming. I have faith!!!! Now everyone say it with me…… EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE!!!! We love you Van Halen!!!!! I also just got to Best Buy yesterday to get the limited edition release of the Chickenfoot CD and DVD. It was the last one left on the shelves.

Good luck Rick. Word of advice…try playin’ like this guy Rick Pride. I heard he’s badass…
November 3rd, 2009 at 9:12 pm
And they choose to decipher how to play the easiest VH songs to play. Shocker.
Where’s Hang ‘Em High, Mean Street, I’m The One, Light Up The Sky, Women In Love, & Fools?
November 3rd, 2009 at 9:19 pm
Thanks Tommy Boy!! That’s awesome advice!!

Anyway, I really think the EVH brand should release a guitar with a Trans Trem so we don’t all have to buy Steinburgers to be able to play Summer Nights, Get Up, Me Wise Magic or Fire In The Hole. Some of Eddie’s best riffs and we can’t really play them due to bridge/tremelo issues.

I crit Ed as much as anyone but cut some slack on this one guys. This is put out by a third party and, although Edward will get some kind of royalty off this (assuming he has some interest in the publishing rights to his music), this will have had no impact an anything else he might have been working on.
November 4th, 2009 at 7:01 am
You’re never gonna make Eddie’s guitar work “easy to play,” no matter what format you put it in. Easy to play, my ass!
November 4th, 2009 at 8:05 am
VHND, how to make such great deals?
November 4th, 2009 at 8:56 am
Where’s Dave??
November 4th, 2009 at 10:09 am
hmmm no Sammy era songs, I wonder why?
November 4th, 2009 at 10:11 am
dave is on a date with jessica biel.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:23 am
Wow, some of you guys are whiney bitches. No news, you complain. Van Halen related news, you complain.
I think this website is doing a great job.
No wonder Eddie doesn’t talk much. Someone would complain if he did.
November 4th, 2009 at 10:23 am
The retard kids that play Guitar Hero should be looking at something like this!!!
Stupid kids today…they can’t even get drunk or stoned properly anymore, let alone learn how to play guitar.
November 4th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
You guys wanna learn how to play like EVH? Go to YOUTUBE and look up DOUG STEELE. He’ll decipher almost every song off of the first 5 VH albums. This guy is badass. he’s a combination of Eddie and Roth in one neat package. In other words, he’s an awesome guitarist and a funny dude! Or look me up: J5150C and I’ll show you a thing or two.
Cheers!
November 4th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
This website DOES a great job and a great service to ALL VH fans, very much appreciated! For those of you who love the music and choose not to subscribe to the whining and bitching, you are appreciated as well. Mr. Pride, my best to you…my playing is very much influenced by Ed, but it’s still my own style. Just consider that when you are learning…PEACE!

FOR THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK….WE SALUTE YOU!
November 4th, 2009 at 4:45 pm
They make it sound like Curt Mitchell’s tapes sucked… That’s how I learned some of my favorite EVH techniques! lol I think all this merchandising is actually a decent sign - I could be wrong - but I think ll this is kind of like a teaser - the next tour is going to be even better than the last one, and I’ll bet the album is going to blow our minds. VH is jst kind of prepping us - I think it’s all definitely worth waiting for, and that makes it even better when it finally arrives!
November 4th, 2009 at 6:15 pm
phil– thats awesome haha.
And agreed!!
November 4th, 2009 at 6:17 pm
Please you cant play like Eddie because you are not Eddiehave your own style and be yourself
November 4th, 2009 at 6:46 pm
j5150 thanks man great find!!!!
November 5th, 2009 at 2:59 am
Beau, how many times does it have to be written in this thread that this has nothing to do with VH. It’s a product by a third party. As such it’s not a sign of anything either way.
November 5th, 2009 at 11:49 am
Karl, I figured they had to be involved with VH in some way in order to use the name/images - I know EVH wasn’t actually involved with it, but I figured permission was needed or something. But hey, as long as Eddie and the guys come back, good/bad sign or not, then it’s all good.
November 5th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
Probably the only involvement that Edward will have with this will be to bank a royalty cheque, and that’s only if he holds publishing rights to his songs which many bands don’t (no idea if Ed does or not). Doubt if he O.K’d anything as this will probably have happened way down the line, obscured by the layers of business that surround a successful guy like Ed. This kind of thing is pretty fair payback for having that spark of genius that sets someone like Ed apart from the rest of us.
November 7th, 2009 at 2:00 am
I just got the DVD it’s AWESOMENESS!!! The guitar the guy is playing is a Wolfgang on loan from EVH Gear and lists the website. So that may answer your questions. It is a very well planned and thought out step by step instructions that break it all down for you. Best ever DVD better than the old videos by Curt Mitchell by far. If you want to know how to play these songs look no further!!! Best purchase for any guitar players who want to learn these great classics. I highly recommend this!!! Thanks!!! Great product!!!!
November 7th, 2009 at 9:42 pm
I would just like to thank J5150C for giving me massive props, very kind of you, sir!!!
I love Ed’s playing on the first four albums so much that, when I learn something, I just gotta share that shit.
Thanks and rock!!

Hey Doug
How about posting “one foot out the door” on youtube dude!
November 10th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
Doug - You are amazing I know all of your postings. My respect for you is without reservation.
I am an advanced player, well trained classical, jazz blah blah!
Please post “one foot out the door” and I will kneel before you. I have the first half of it down. After the silence he does an e minor blues and uni-bend thing into a minor third chromatic lick - brutal to play but I have it! After the open G dive bomb I am lost as to whether he is tapping or not? The speed he uses to get to this 3 position is not humanly possible. Can you do it?
November 18th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
you all cry to much!!! grow up!!!
