Cabo Wabo Cantina Set to Open This Fall at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas

CaboWabologoSammy Hagar’s infamous bar and rock ‘n roll hotspot, Cabo Wabo Cantina, is set to open in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas in the fall of this year. Cabo Wabo Cantina offers a blend of live music and coastal Mexican cuisine served up all day and night, for a party that rocks into the early morning.

Cabo Wabo Cantina will be a two-story, 15,000 square foot restaurant and nightclub that will replace Trader Vic’s in their highly visible location right on the Las Vegas Strip. The food and cocktail menus will feature much of the same items as the original cantina in Cabo San Lucas. The food will be traditional and contemporary selections inspired by the fresh seafood and local fare of Cabo. The cocktail menu will place heavy emphasis on Sammy’s spirit of choice, tequila, and will feature margaritas and other refreshing beverages perfect for coolong off in the desert.

Cabo Wabo Cantina will be the flagship U.S. location for the legendary restaurant and nightclub. The original opened in Cabo San Lucas in 1990, and later became the inspiration for what is now one of the most recognizable tequila brands in the world, Cabo Wabo Tequila.

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with rock legend Sammy Hagar in opening the Vegas Cabo Wabo Cantina,” said Miracle Mile Shops co-owner David Edelstein. “Miracle Mile Shops is one of the Las Vegas’ premiere dining, entertainment and shopping destinations thanks to our ever growing roster of exciting new tenants like Cabo Wabo Cantina.”

“I am ecstatic to finally introduce Las Vegas to the Cabo Wabo lifestyle,” remarked Cabo Wabo founder Sammy Hagar. “The cantina’s fun-loving, fiesta atmosphere will bring a rock and roll vibe to the heart of the Strip like people have never seen before. We are going to rock the Vegas Strip!”

The Van Halen News Desk heard a rumor that the grand opening might be in November.

I guess Dave is expendable until Ed’s spending means another 93 million dollar Re-union tour? C’mon Bocephus , Gimme a break . By your own statement you make Ed and Sam out to be ‘In it for the Money’ mercenaries.

  • Kimberly

Peace comrades peace!!!! Lol<3 Can’t we all just love VH for what they are? And I think we can all agree VH put out some bangin’ ass music in its time.

  • pushtoshove

Hey Kimberly-Thank you…your age is …ahem!…perfect…As far as your measurements …Tight as a glove I’m sure..I am old enough to know better but young enough to do it anyways and do it well…as good once as i ever was? ( to coin a song ). Ah…The Van Halen News Desk…where Rock and Roll is still alive and kickin’!

  • Bocephus

    Push Come To Shove…

Ed’s tune changed after the divorce…

You should know this by now…but just to let you in..

As far back as 1986…he talked abbout NOT doing a clown show..I’ll take Wolfie under duress, but Dave’s position in the band is all about the $…and if you don’t think so, well we’ll leave it at that.

I’m sorry brother but everyone i$ in it to win it.

Don’t get me wrong, I wish Dave still had the pipes- but like many frontmen that have been singing for 3 decades…you’re not left with many options live…once again thanxs for the engineer on what will be a fine studio album…but you will see a carbon copy of the last tour vocally…

  • pushtoshove

Well…you make some fine points Mr Bocephus. Here’s to a fine new Van Halen CD!

  • Vanicionado

pushcomestoshove… Trying to pick up chicks on the internet?!? (Sad and lonely, sad and lonely??) You ever see the video to Aerosmith’s “Sweet Emotion?” All I’m going to say, dude… that’s all I’m going to say.

Skutch… when it comes to civilized conversations about the world’s greatest band, I can always look forward to reading what you have to say! I’m bringing the beer. It will be cold, and strong.

I do have to comment on the Rock N’ Roll Hall Of Fame thingy (debacle). I know it’s like a sin to admit around here, but S.T.P is my second favorite band. Having Velvet Revolver play at the Induction was awesome. Slash has a lot of respect for Eddie Van Halen (as mentioned in his Autobiograpy.) You have to realize that VR also had short notice that Dave was not going to perform with them and they too scrambled to make sure they were ready for the performance. I thought Scott did a great job on a song that isn’t quite in his range. Slash didn’t try to copy Eddie, cause as he stated in his book, Eddie has a soul that you just can’t capture. I did think that if Eddie, Alex and Dave couldn’t, or wouldn’t show up, they should have put off the induction. Sammy showed up, plain and simple. So did Mike. So what? At least someone who was in the band made time to enjoy the honour, the privelege and the prestige of the whole ceremony.

    Anyhow.

    Here’s the money bet…

Will there be a new Chickenfoot, or a new Van Halen album first?

    That’s the real question!

Gary, Dave… Sammy. I don’t care who sings… I just want an old school kick ass Van Halen record to listen to.

  • pushtoshove

Hahahahahaha……Vanicianado , nuff said! And you’re right…I don’t care if Weiland sings ( He’s available I think ) as long as its old school ,new school ,experimental ,anything as long as it is new VH.

  • redarrow5150

I just find it interesting after all these years DLR hasn’t married nor has he ever been seen in public with a girlfriend or dating someone. Just sayin…

  • Kimberly

That’s cause he’s waiting for me ;) Haha ..that sounded so lame <3

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

Ya know….stone temple pilots “are” one of my favourite bands too. Have every album they ever released. Saw the reunion tour last summer in jersey.
That doesnt make it right to “butcher” a roth era song / sammy era song. I might not give a shit about the RRHOF but its still an honor, and “anyone” asked to perform should respect that. The boys in velvet revolver didnt.
VH is one of the biggest and most influential rock bands EVER. If you’re in a band you know EXACTLY who VH is….and most likely you learned a thing or two from em’. Is it me or was velvet revolver the only rock group (in their age group) who didnt know how to cover “aint talkin about love”? I mean c’mon!! Then they go and play “runaround” and scott is yelling “round and round” over and over again. Didnt even sing the damn song right. It was obvious these guys didnt give a shit about being there. Did you hear that half assed speech? No mention of history or influence…just random idiotic quotes like: “David lee roth! Golden god of rock.”
Ok…..thats it slash? Like we didnt already know that?
Roth didnt go because he was asked to sing “you really got me” which he didnt want to do. He wanted to do an orginal VH song. Do you blame him? So he asked Velvet Revolver to do “Jump” and they said they didnt know how to play it. Fine…why not try and work with roth on another song? Nope. So roth doesnt get to sing…but scott does, and doesnt even know all the words to the songs. I took that shit very personally as a die hard VH fan. I’m sure so many bands would have “died” to have a chance to play in honor of VH.
These clowns to me ruined it. They should have never had a “celeberty rock project” representing the induction.
If you listened closely at the end of them performing “runaround” one guy in the audience yelled out: That aint van halen!
    You’re goddamn right.

  • Pete

DUCK – you’re 100% right. The RRHOF IS a big deal, and Velvet Revolver were the wrong choice. They are a “feel” band, not technicians capable of reproducing VH.

Also – Weiland seemed like he was TRYING to make a point of not singing it properly, as if it were beneathe him somehow.

I loved VR, but they should have apologized for their performance.

  • Vanicionado

    Pete… Duck..

    I respectfully disagree.

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

    Vanicionado…

I could care less what you think.
Scott weiland is a fuckin’loser ok?
Admit that your favourite group STP is done.
Saw scott try and get through a set last summer.
Mumbling…incoherent…half assed. How many chances can this guy get? Couldnt deal with STP…couldnt get along with Velvet revolver…..please. The guy is a fuck up. Once a heroin addict…always an addict.
Anyone who thinks they did a great job at the RRHOF is blind and most likely musically retarded…..

  • Vanicionado

Wow… I just say “I RESPECTFULLY disagree” and you get all fired up like that?

    I hope you don’t drive…

    Have kids…

Or work a high stress job due.

    Wow.

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

    There’s a lot of wise asses around…
Just standin’ my ground my man…

    I drive a 70 chevelle….

    Have no kids….

Work in a VERY high stressed job…

    This aint personal brother….it’s VH.

  • Pete

VANICIONADO – hey man, I admire your wit and your restraint brother…

  • Vanicionado

    Thanks Pete.

  • http://None Ducky / Dirty Duck

    Vanicionado…

Hey man…no hard feelings I hope.
Believe it or not i’m a pretty down to earth cat.
At times i get very worked up when it comes to rock n roll.
Music and film is my life. I take it seriously at times…
    maybe too seriously. That’s love i guess….
Hope we can still be cool….even if we dont agree on a lot of things… ;)
