Update on Sammy Hagar’s new CD, with new video footage

Sammy Hagar is finishing up his new CD, entitled, “Cosmic Universe Fashion”, and he hopes it will be ready for release in October. Most songs were recorded with his regular band, the Waboritas, but at least one song, “Loud”, includes special guests - Matt Sorum (Velvet Revolver, Guns ‘n’ Roses), Billy Duffy (The Cult), and Michael Anthony (Van Halen).
All songs are recorded and the CD is currently in the mixing stage.
Also, there is about 5 minutes of cool footage of Sammy, Michael, Matt & Billy inside Sammy’s studio, working on “Loud”. The footage was filmed on August 14th.
Visit Matt Sorum’s Myspace page and scroll down just a bit to view the video. (You might be required to create a Myspace account to be able to watch it).

Well, let’s hope it’s better than Livin It Up. So far, it seems like it will be.
August 18th, 2008 at 3:26 pm
Why doesn’t Mike smile in any pictures? He always has the same expression. I am looking forward to this album, but have no idea what to expect.
August 18th, 2008 at 4:29 pm
well at least he’s putting out new music, and I know it will be very good as usual. I’m sure it will be a long while before we see new music from the Van Halens if ever.

Ya know after reading these comments! I think I have always been a big fan of VAN HALEN! VAN HALEN for the time, Van Halen for the music. When Van Halen was with Sammy, I so missed them, I wanted the old guitar tone with David. My first concert was with Roth, and I must say they jammed. Just a great BAND. I mean a wow! Blew you away, like they could do anything. ANYTHING. Then I went through the whole Gary Cherone area. I like the shows, I liked the SOUND. Last year I witnessed Eddie, Alex, and David with the son. With Wolfgang jamming, just be able to jam these tunes with millions of americans. It was cool. I love Van Halen. They dont owe us shit, but they will. They will treat us again. They LOVE US. A FUCKING TRUE VAN HALEN FAN!

I am really glad to hear Sammy is putting out another album. I hope he is also putting out the other rumored Chickfoot material. It is obvious that the Roth Army Site is still down. These guys can’t just like the Roth era without slamming Sammy and Mike at every chance. It is sad and weak. Sammy makes good, fun music. The Roth Era was great! Can you not just appreciate your favorite without saying crap about the other. Grow up and get a life.

If its quantity versus quality, then we are doomed to 99 Sammy posts to one actual current Van Halen post.
In some sites, they segregate out areas of interest according to what fans want.
It would be cool if there was just a current VH site that didn’t have any Sammy news. I don’t care if it is rarely updated.
But posting all of this Sammy stuff — just because he’s churning out more material — makes it seem like he’s more a part of Van Halen, which I think totally distorts reality.
He’s done, for the time being anyway.
Sammy should have his own page within this site, but he’s not the FEATURED ATTRACTION.
No news is better than Sammy news!
August 18th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Before i say this let me just point out..I always liked sammy but…..THIS IS VAN HALENS WEBSITE….Sammy’s got a bunch of money and he doesnt like Dave so therefore doesnt it make him a HYPOCRITE to use this site to get publicity??>????….But in all fairness to Sammy Fans ( who by the way are nazi’s who act like your not supposed to have an opinion contrary to theirs ) Eddie Van halen Needs to get his head out of his ass and make new music with Dave and RELEASE IT!!!!!!! And tour to support it….I AM F%$KIN TIRED OF BUSTING MY ASS EVERYDAY TO MAKE A LIVING WHILE EDDIE HAS A HEADTRIP AND CANT GET IT TOGETHER ENOUGH TO LET THE PAST GO AND MAKE SOME NEW MUSIC WITH DAVE…a BUNCH OF PUSSIES!!! GET OVER IT ED!!! THE WORLD IS YOURS AND YOU WHINE AND PLAY HEADGAMES….MAKE F%$KIN MUSIC ALLREADY!!!!!
August 18th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
WAY TO GO SAMMY….AT LEAST YOUR OUT THERE DOING IT!!!!
August 18th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
I’d go see Sammy in a heartbeat
August 18th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Hmmmmm … it appears Mikey has just as much input into Sammy’s music as he did with Van Halen’s.
C’mon, Mikey, feel free to pipe in once in a while!
August 18th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
I really hope this album is good. The last single sammy put out was horribe.
I saw Sam in London, ON and the show kicked ass! Right up there with the two Van Halen shows I saw at the end of 2007.
I’d also like to see/hear that chicken foot group Sammy always talks about… I think that could do quite well if they have a good single or two.
August 19th, 2008 at 9:59 am
Robby, what the hell did you do, smoke a fat crack pipe for breakfast?!?! You think Sammy uses this site for his own good?!?! You’re joking right? He doesn’t have a DAMN thing to do with the running of this site. You think us Van Hagar fans are Nazis?!?! Ouch, man. All I seem to see are the Dave Weirdos who piss on Sammy and try to end the “discussion.” Not the other way around. Most of the Sam Halen Legion accepts Dave. Deal with it. I love the Internet. Oh, but Robby you are 100% correct: VAN FUCKING HALEN NEEDS TO PUT OUT A NEW RECORD!!!!!!! That’s an opinion we are ALL behind. (I hope…)
August 19th, 2008 at 10:58 am
Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one. Some are just bigger than others. It does not matter who you like or why. Your opinion does not change mine. If you don’t like Sammy, VH, DLR or hell Gary Cherone, stay off their sites. If you come on here just to bitch because no one else will listen to you, well, what can I say. You are one of the big ones.
August 19th, 2008 at 12:36 pm
Man…it’s so easy to get a reaction from you guys….especially when i say that Sammy was great with Van Halen and then i say Eddie’s got his head up his ass….They are all a bunch of spoiled rock stars that need to get it together…except Sammy who’s at least doing stuff with his music ‘Right Now’ …or should I say ‘Right here and Now’…Oh , and i wish people would stop trying to tell others to stay of the internet because a different opinion hurts their ears ( The Nazi Reference-not all Van Hagar or Van halen fans-just the nazis ) Thats why it is called freedom of speech , morons. Not you Chris-not today….J/K ! ;-].
August 19th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
It was’nt crack….it was Decaffeinated…:=\
August 19th, 2008 at 12:47 pm
haven’t we all graduated from the who’s better Sam or Dave debate? I know I have. I mean is it still 1987 here?
August 19th, 2008 at 1:54 pm
August 19th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Travis…I got my degree from Van Hagar University, so I don’t know….It was weird though…It was signed by Dave!!
August 20th, 2008 at 12:36 am
way to go chris,,,,,
August 20th, 2008 at 2:17 am
Boy, reading these comments kind of makes me long for the days before we could make them.
Why can’t people just accept that some of us like the Sammy era of Van Halen, even if they don’t? Name calling and stupid flame posts aren’t going to help convince anyone that you’re right and they’re wrong.
I liked Sammy, I like Dave, I even liked Gary. Each had their own style, and you might like one over another. That doesn’t mean the others suck though.
I really wonder if other bands with different singers over the years generate the same kind of immature arguments ad nauseam.
August 20th, 2008 at 6:20 am
Chris, that was good, I like Dave too. Now let’s move on, just hope the VH’s and Dave can keep it together and be able to put out some new music sooner than later.
August 20th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Sounds good to me.
August 21st, 2008 at 2:26 pm
Typical sammy! Everytime the guy says something positive about Dave with VH there’s always something else thrown in to ruin it. Why didnt they keep mike!? Are you kidding me sam? Maybe becasue he felt touring with you and your lame ass band (The other half-horrible name for a rock group by the way)would be more exciting? What a wake up call huh mike? Blame eddie…blame dave..blame wolfgang…blame everyone except mike right? Bull! Mike made his decision to stay with sammy…case closed. The tour with dave back in was a HUGE success! If i read right…the BIGGEST selling tour in the bands history right? Maybe if mike stayed and we got to hear that amazing bass solo of his (yawn)maybe they would have sold more tickets…gimmie a break! Wake up people! Wolfgang is the future of VH…mike is in the PASTure! I’m really looking foward to the next tour….
August 21st, 2008 at 4:57 pm
Like i said///I dont think Ed and Co. will get it together enough to do that,,,,,it isnt talent that makes bands succesful it is drive and determination….eddies a weirdo now….but i would go see them if they toured
August 22nd, 2008 at 7:26 am
I don’t know how that’s typical Sammy, but ok…..I don’t know the cat personally, but Sammy always comes off as a nice guy. He’s sticking up for his buddy, man. Can no one see that? Also, he’s only asking the same question EVERYONE did. “Why didn’t they keep Mike?” I’m sure Sammy knows full well (just like Mike does) how decent Wolfgang is, but he’s only talking from a fan’s POV. No one here can say they weren’t surprised the minute they heard Mike was out. You can’t. Don’t try! Mikey did’t make a decision to STAY with Sammy until after he was booted. He made a decision to work with Sammy before that. Not out to change anyone’s mind here, just stating simple facts.
August 22nd, 2008 at 10:49 am
And in all defense to Mike all he wanted to do was play music. What was he supposed to do; just sit on the sidelines and wait for something to happen? Folks this goes back a long time to 1980. Eddie never thought Mike brought anything creative to the band. Bringing Wolf in was inevitable.
August 22nd, 2008 at 5:26 pm
I’m with Shawn…this site is EVERYTHING Van Halen…Roth, Hagar, Mikey Anthony, and Wolfie. Those slam comments on Sammy are just from those Roth Army guys who have nothing to do while living in their Mother’s basement thinking it’s still 1983. Take off your matador jacket and step into reality.
August 25th, 2008 at 6:42 am
REALCHRIS: the reason I said “typical sammy” cause the cat has never had anything positive about dave being in VH. He was the one (if you do your homework) who said the tour “would never happen. ” He was wrong. I’m not here to put down mike…i like the guy. He was a big part of the VH legend…but those days are gone. I’m just looking foward to the future of VH…some people need to get out of the past.
August 25th, 2008 at 7:26 am
Dirty Duck: Well, we all thought the tour with Dave would never happen. That’s one big reason why the tour was so succussful financially for the Band. No one thought it would happen. Except Dave. He always thought it would, because he thinks the world revolves around his enormous ego. That’s the Diamond Dave Mystique. And really, why the Hell would Sammy have “positive things” or any things to say about DLR? You’re talking now about looking toward the future, don’t you think they did that back in 1985? Show me otherwise to prove me wrong,(cause if I am, then I’ll accept it) but Sammy never had any Dave hate. Why would he want to alienate the VH fans? Some people here have said Sammy wouldn’t sing Dave’s songs except for Ain’t Talkin Bout Love, cuase it had Love in the title? Really guys? Come on. Where does that even come from? Jump, Unchained, Panama, You Really Got Me…do I need to go on? Regardless of any of this….BRING ON THE NEW MUSIC.
August 25th, 2008 at 7:44 am
REALchris: Sammy never had any Dave hate? Go back and look when he first joined the band, he slammed the guy any chance he got left and right. And that is why so many old school VH fans have a problem with Sammy. To this day he still slams Dave (or gives back handed compliments) any chance he gets. The bottom line is Sammy walked into a perfect situation after 1984. They came off an album that sold 10 million copies and a highly successful tour. The table was set for them to hit #1 with their next album. And Yes Sammy is talented, and yes he has great range but I really wonder where the guy would be if he had not joined Van Halen. His solo career has been (and continues to be) fair at best.
The future is now! And the future is with Dave,Eddie,Alex, and Wolf! But you are right about one thing if there is no new music to move forward this will of been just a nostalgia tour and that my friends would be a shame.
August 25th, 2008 at 8:46 am
“Go back and look when he first joined the band, he slammed the guy any chance he got left and right”
I gotta say I did not realize Sammy did that. I’m in my late 20’s (28), so like I’ve said before, I grew up with Van Hagar. I don’t know how I’d know it without a time machine at this point, (is there a source where I can actually read that stuff?) but if that’s the case, then so be it. I know he wasn’t singing praise (i guess pardon the pun) during the whole Sam and Dave Tour, but I never took it as genuine hate. And hate’s a strong word. FUCK THE PAST. I may be young, but I’m old fashioned. I’m not gonna fuck it unless I know it first! Now I know, and I’m ready to fuck! VAN HALEN IV. IS IT COMING?
August 26th, 2008 at 5:23 am
“some people need to get out of the past.”
Quote of the year in support of a tour whose newest song is 24 years old.
“Those slam comments on Sammy are just from those Roth Army guys who have nothing to do while living in their Mother’s basement thinking it’s still 1983. Take off your matador jacket and step into reality.”
Bingo.
Quoting Cherone: If you don’t like what you see here, get the funk out.
August 26th, 2008 at 6:34 am
And in 2004 what “new” album did the Van Hagar tour go out and support? Somebody must of liked the 2007/2008 tour or it would not put up the numbers it did. The only “reality” is Van Halen is Dave, Eddie, Alex, and Wolf!
August 26th, 2008 at 10:55 am
Anyone who quotes anything from gary cherone (out of all frontmen) is not someone i would ever waste my time talking about music with…
Does anyone else here think that THE REAL CHRIS (wow chris..are you sure you’re real man?) is a jerkoff?
Well i do. The guy is a sammy support with absolutly NO knowledge of the bands origins or beginning. Have fun seeing the OTHER HALF…I heard it’s almost as good as the orginal lineup!
LONG LIVE CLASSIC VAN HALEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 26th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Dirty Dick: Classic Van Halen is Dead. It was buried in 1985 and there was a Platimum Selling Wake shortly after. Deal with it Douchebag. I am a Sammy Supporter. I am a Van Halen supporter. I am a Current Lineup Van Halen supporter. I can’t help it if I’m a reasonable person, instead of the one track minded simpletons that slam the board with ridiculous nonsensical horse shit. Thanks for playing!
August 27th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Don’t get AWU on us. (All worked Up)
August 28th, 2008 at 6:37 am
Good call…I’m ACD now. (All Calmed Down)
August 28th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
“And in 2004 what “new” album did the Van Hagar tour go out and support? ”
Er, none. I do have some bootlegs of their performances of “It’s about time”, “Up for breakfast” and that one time they performed “Learning to see” in Greensboro. Y’see, Ed *has* written music within the last 10 years other than for soundtracks to softcore movies.
***Somebody must of liked the 2007/2008 tour ***
Hey, I’m not slamming the tour. I’m just tired of people going off on Sammy, who was more than willing to give the fans what they wanted, while adoring Dave - who is a complete jerk who has alienated about everyone he’s ever worked with (including Ed, several times). I like ‘em both, but, let’s face it, Dave’s a better “front man” (meaning: guys who were teens in the 70s think he’s cool) and Sammy’s a better singer. I still gots my Dave era CDs & they’re great. But, I also remember “bo-zee bo-zee bop, zee-dee bop” and “dance, dance dance, the night away” and that means whenever someone talks about how much kickass rock it was….well, most of it was. Just like with Sammy.
****Anyone who quotes anything from gary cherone (out of all frontmen) is not someone i would ever waste my time talking about music with…****
Gary’s the one fronting the group that has written new music for the fans. You may not like him, that’s fine, but he’s been able to sell many millions of CDs without Ed.
Don’t get me wrong, that VH3 CD blew chunks, but at least Gary was willing to sing the entire catalogue.
BTW, lighten up. Just because some people are listening to songs AFTER the Reagan administration doesn’t mean that it’s a license to attack them personally. I mean, it’s not as if I’m pining at my PC to talk about how badass DLR was (cue Springsteen’s “glory days” in the background). Jeez, life’s too short. We’re all VH fans or we wouldn’t be here.
(side note: Cherone is likely the most intelligent and definitely the ‘deepest’ person affiliated with the VH legacy. His open letters to that moron Vedder, on a volatile topic, are a testament to that. So, yeah, I’ll quote him, especially when it’s part of a HUMOROUS PART of the entry. You couldn’t see that?)
