Eddie Van Halen “Very serious about staying sober”

This week, a close friend of Eddie Van Halen’s told the Van Halen News Desk that Eddie is doing “fantastic”, hasn’t drank alcohol in months, and is “very serious about staying sober.” Keep it up, Eddie!
This great news coincides with a new EVH sighting posted today on TMZ.com:

He survived cancer, rehab and an undisclosed medical condition that derailed his tour, but Eddie Van Halen is looking hot for teacher.
Sporting a cool new ‘do, the 53-year-old vacationed in Maui on Tuesday looking tan and fit. Who needs Jenny Craig?

Damn - Ed looks like he’s put on about 10 or 15 pounds since the tour ended, and that ain’t necessarily bad. It shows the man’s eating good, not spending the day chasing a buzz. If he can keep clean and put out some new product with Dave, it ought to raise the very rock-n-roll bar that they set over 20 years ago.

I´m SO glad to see Eddie healthy this way.
No matter if they will not release anything or never tour again….the first thing of all is: Eddie is alive, happy and healthy!!!!

Man, it’s good to see Ed looking healthy again. As above, if VH never does anything again, it would be cool to know that he beat the demons and isn’t just wasting away.
But of course, if they wanted to record and tour, that would be great too……

WOW! He does look like he’s put on some weight. Truly amazing, but in a good way. He’s one of my musical heroes, and I want him to be around for a long time.
Now, if we could just do something about his smoking!!!

great to see ed taking care of himself.i think if he stays healthy we have a much better chance of him making one more cd with dave.think of the music that could have been if they had stayed together all these years.lets hope and pray that they are still getting along.has anyone heard anything on what they have planned.? i was hoping that on the last night of the tour they would say something about new music.but just like they always do,they left us wondering.my gut feeling is that they will take the summer off,then get together this fall .please make us one more cd with dave!!

That’s Ed, all right - check the tat on his shoulder. And, at 45, I can tell you that a month of kicking back and enjoying life at our age will do some serious damage to the waistline. LOL As scrawny as he was for so long from the booze-only diet, it’s his 53-year-old body’s way of getting bushwhacked by a ribeye and lobster tail dinner, and yelling, “HELL, YEAHHHHHH!!!!” LMAO

That is not EDDie Van Halen, He just had a recent photo shoot for Rolling Stone magazine and he was ripped & cut just like he was on the latest tour

I saw The Tour in Indianapolis early, Oct. ‘07, and then the last show in Grand Rapids. I could tell he had put some weight on then. I think this probably confirms the reason for the last tour delay, he must’ve taken another fall from the wagon, as just after that he began putting weight on.
They’ve said all along they were going into the studio again. I got the VIP package for the last show and suring the backstage tour they said there is going to be a video of the reunion tour out by Christmas, and I’d bet a new album shortly thereafter and another tour next summer. I think they all very much want to be relevant on the music scene again. I always thought the last song they did, Me Wise Magic, was a great, great, song, one of my favorites.

Old or new picture, Eddie looks great in the picture and he looked great on stage! I also saw them a couple times on this tour and was at the last show. Were they also filming for the new DVD that night?
Please put out a DVD and please tour again! VH Rocks!

Attn Daniel Malec: In answer to your question above, I was at the Balitomore show this past Spring and during the concert DLR stated very clearly that they had been “in the studio” during the tour, however when I saw them at the MSG show (post Baltimore) recording was never mentioned during the show. These are just facts, not analysis. There could be many reasons for this, but I am not going to try to analyze it or make shit up (like many probably will).
