EVH D-Tuna now available in Black & Gold, as well as Chrome

D-tuna at VanHalenStore.comThe EVH D-tuna is now available in two new colors – Black and Gold, as well as Chrome.

The D-Tuna is Eddie Van Halen’s revolutionary patented device that enables players to drop the E to D and back again, in an instant.

The D-Tuna was designed to adapt to a double-locking tremolo, such as a Floyd Rose or Floyd Rose-licensed tremolo. The patented design allows for precise fine-tuning adjustment, is simple to set up, easy to use.

“It couldn’t be easier to install. You remove the string locking screw from the low E-saddle on the bridge and replace it with one of the two D-Tuna locking screws provided, the spring assembly and the D-Tuna. And that’s just about all there is to it.” – Edward Van Halen

The D-Tuna has been standard equipment on Eddie Van Halen’s personal guitars as well as signature series locking tremolo-equipped guitars since the early 90’s. Since then, thousands of D-Tuna’s have been sold worldwide.

Van Halen Store has all three colors in stock for just $39.95, which is $20 off the list price of $59.95 Click here to order now!

I’m not clever enough to utilize alternate tunings like the drop-d tuning…although it sounds really cool…but I think this is a pretty clever invention.

Ed claims he also invented what became the Floyd Rose, so it’s pretty cool that he had a hand in two major guitar hardware innovations of this era.

And yes…it’s another “product”, but what the hell…it’s a pretty cool concept, even if it’s a bit beyond my brain-power to actually use. (;>)

There’s really nothing to ‘Drop D’ tuning, Pete…it just allows you to get a power chord on your two lowest strings…give it a shot sometime and turn out some “Unchained” \m/

    Nice!!

Ive been using the d-tuna for many years and love it!

Have one on my EBMM and PV wolfgang.

Thinking of putting one on my GMW 5150.

    Here’s a ?

From the footage ive seen from the 2004 tour where Eddie used the 5150 it doesn’t look like he had a d-tuna on it’s floyd.

    Has anyone seen otherwise?

The D-tuna works great! Use it all the time and love it!

  • Mark

Wow, thank God they came up with a new paint job on the D-Tuna, I was starting to think Ed was just sitting on his hands.

  • Pliskin

Who needs new music when you can have a ‘drop-d tuner’ and sneakers?

  • Pete

GARRETT…hmmm…the way you describe it seems reasonable enough. I DO like the sound of drop-d tuning.

Question: is the Crue tune “Kickstart My Heart” done in drop-d as well? I’ve never been able to get that to sound exactly correct when I play it.

    Thanks man.

For those of you that look for every opportunity to take cheap shots at a band for the lack of new material…grow up. Your incesant whining is excruciating. I too would not be inspired to put out anything new if my fan base were displaying this level of immaturity. The fact is that the band has put out a substatial amount of material to last anyone’s lifetime. I could care less if they ever come out with new stuff. There is more to life than anticipating when an artist is going to satisfy your consumerism. So if your so concerned, take your little circus act over to the chickendork camp.

  • Luke

Can anyone confirm that with the D-Tuna installed you can only press the trem down and can’t lift it up?

  • KTC5150

Have no fear fans, new music is on the way…

  • scott

    Right on, Jack.

  • Peedah

Luke that is correct you really can’t pull up far with the D-Tuna. Ed sets his guitars for diving only. This thing is well worth the money if you D-Tune alot. Roth ON!!

  • crystal dawn

I second that “right on, Jack.”

  • jeff

I have the D-tuna on both my Wolfgang and a Kramer 5150 that I was very fortunate to find (the guitar is actually made by ESP, but is identical to the one Ed used on the 5150 tour, and has the Kramer name on the neck plate and headstock)
Anyways, the D-tuna is flawless, as long as you adjust the fine tuning adjustment screw on the barrel every once in a while. I use it all the time, and I recommend it for any guitar with a floyd trem. It is also so incredibly easy to install, so if you aren’t familiar with it, don’t be scared……..just go buy one, you won’t regret it!!

  • Greg

    Jack seems to like memories…

We like music & new material.

  • Luke

    Thanks Peedah.

  • Rich

Remember guys, this is simply the VHND putting across things that they think the fans will like. If I were to ever buy a Phase 90 I’d probably look at the EVH version. The D Tuna is cool and apparently useful, although pointless to me as I don’t have a floyd. I plan to get one though so its useful for there to be a website that lets us know about these things! Whining isn’t going to make Eddie Van Halen knock on your front door and give you a personal signed copy of a new album.

  • phillster

    Right on-Rich!!
some of these whiny pricks won`t be satisfied unless eddie`s wife shows up at thier door with a written apology&a blowjob.
    GET OVER IT ALREADY!!!!!!

  • Rich

    Phillster:

I’d be very satisfied with that ;)
