(Reno, NV) April 21, 2008 - The fans asked and VAN HALEN delivered.
VAN HALEN launched the second leg of their 2007/2008 North American Tour by bringing its legendary live show, enduring music and incomparable showmanship to Reno, Nev. for the first time in 16 years. And if the sold-out crowd's reaction was any indication, it was worth the wait.
"The band was in top musical form," wrote Jason Kellner of the Reno Gazette-Journal. "Nearly two hours, a drum solo and guitar solo later, the band didn't seem to let up."
The audience remained on its feet for the duration, singing along and roaring with approval as Eddie, Dave, Alex and Wolfgang drew from a wellspring of rock anthems. A true-to-form VAN HALEN relentlessly romped through hits including "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "Panama," "Jamie's Cryin'," "Jump" and more.
The band's presentation of this iconic material continually whipped their "fan base into a frenzy," the Reno Gazette-Journal added.
Eddie Van Halen's rock guitar virtuosity, David Lee Roth's powerhouse vocals, Alex Van Halen's thunderous drumming and Wolfgang Van Halen's bass brought an air of exuberance to the arena.
People magazine noted the band's enthusiasm by reporting Eddie "jumped up and down and ran around the stage throughout the entire show."
And the warm reception from the fans helped take the party atmosphere to the next festive level.
"The Reno crowd was energized and amazing," VAN HALEN said today in a joint statement. "The band is thrilled to be back on the road!"
VAN HALEN continues their critically-acclaimed tour through June 2.
