EVH Replica Guitar Sites To Close
April 9, 2002 -
Two prominent makers of Van Halen replica guitars have been
asked by Eddie Van Halen's lawyers to cease operations.
Roland Hernandez and
Ed Roman
were recently contacted by the Neff Law Group
in Torrance, CA on behalf of Eddie Van Halen. They were told they could no longer sell
Eddie Van Halen replica guitars.
It's probably no coincidence that the following line was recently added to the footer on
the main page at
van-halen.com:
Frankenstein Artwork (Upper-Left corner) © 2000-2002 Edward Van Halen.
Lately it seems that Eddie is trademarking everything that isn't nailed down.
Sure, he has a right to protect his trademarks, but going after a fan (in this
case Roland) who makes 10 or so guitars per year for fellow Van Halen fans seems
a bit rich.
Could it be that Peavey are intending to make their
own striped Wolfgangs? If so, hopefully they retail for a lot less than the
outrageously priced models currently on display at the
Peavey Custom Shop.
