My brother and I went to see Diamond Dave last night! It was a great concert. The set list was the same as reported in previous reviews. Dave was really into it and was definitely having a great time. The crowd was feeding off his energy.

I must say that Dave is in unbelievable shape. The concert was at the Grand casino, a small venue with over 2000 fans cheering and having the time of their lives. His voice sounded great and the band was very tight. There was no mention of anything to do with Van Halen. Just a lot of great tunes from the Dave era. I hope the next time I get to see him it is with Edward, Alex, and Mike. That would sure be the biggest tour around. If you get a chance, don't miss the opportunity to see Dave! It is well worth it!

As soon as the show was over, the first thing I asked my friend was, "If you were Eddie Van Halen, would you hire him back?" The answer was an immediate "Hell, yes". That pretty much sums up the show.

Dave kicked ass. This was the third time I've seen him in concert, and the first time since '88's "Skyscraper" tour. No doubt about it, this was the best show I've seen him put on, and not just because it was predominantly Van Halen material. Dave looks great and his voice sounds great. He pulled out all of the old crowd-inciting tricks, from "Is everybody doin' all right out there tonight?" to the usual "Ya'll are some rowdy MF'ers, aren't you?"

The set list was the same as the Wichita show two nights earlier, and the only disappointment was the lack of "Unchained".

The band was tight. Ray and Todd seemed to be having the times of their lives, and Bart......well, Bart needs to loosen up a bit. Obviously, it's Dave's show, but a little enthusiasm from Bart couldn't hurt.

The crowd of approximately 1,500 (not bad considering the jack-ass promoters in nearby Memphis have no clue how to actually promote a concert!) loved the show (at least the people I spoke to did). Is it a sneak preview of what's to come in the year 2000? Let's hope so. Dave appears to have swallowed an awful lot of pride. He gave 110% last night, when many others with his background could have (and probably would have) sulked and pouted their way through the set. The man busted his butt to make sure that he put on the best show he possibly could. Thanks, Dave. Here's hoping good things come to those who wait!

I saw Dave & his band play last night at the Grand Casino in Tunica, Mississippi. All the bright, neon lights & an electic Diamond Dave to put the final sprakle in Tunica! Dave rocked, flirted with the ladies, drank & masterbated with Jack Daniels, play with is tool & shook his ass! Even did his spin kicks & spun a silver stick around during Jump. All that entertainment for twenty bucks! The music was great. The only thing that bugged me was that he would play a rockin' song & then start talking in the middle of it & then try to pick it up again.

The band was great. The show started about 30 minutes late! They played Kid Rock & Rage against the Machine before the show. Dave wore his tight silver & black outfit. Maybe he needed to stay away from the free buffet that night cuz his pants where very tight! LOL! Dave ate up the crowd & spotlight but that is just Dave being Dave! Come back soon! See this show! It rocked!

What a show!! I am still floored by how much energy Dave has. I have seen Dave with VH and solo before, and frankly this was the best that I have seen him. He seems to be paying close attention to his singing, unlike in years past. To my ears he hit most everything dead on.

Where in the hell did Eddie and Alex get the notion that this isn't the same Dave as in years past? People I honestly believe that Dave is STILL the best showman in rock and roll. I went to this concert with a mentality that Dave was going to have to prove to me that he could still do it. Well, he did and then some. He isn't washed up, and VH should be banging down his door to get him back.

Ed, Al, and Mike listen, Dave is the only one we will accept.

Dave was, as always, Diamond Dave! A great showman! He is still one of the best front men in rock.

Is it me or does the guitar played look like Howard Stern?

I have seen Van Halen with Sammy 5 times and Gary twice, so it was great to see DLR! He still has the same moves as he always did and says the same stuff he always did with the boys in VH.

For example: "I forgot the ^&*ing words", "You guys are a bunch of rowdy MF%^&ers."

Again, it was great to see Dave, and I hope someday he will do a tour with Alex, Eddie and co. Long live Van Halen!

Dave was in full form Saturday night at Grand Casino in Tunica, MS. Despite the late start to the show, he came out on fire and kicked off the show with "Hot For Teacher." He rocked through a set list full of old VH favorites such as "Dance The Night Away," "Ice Cream Man," "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," "Everybody Wants Some," and even "Little Dreamer" just to name a few.

If the rumors are true about a possible reunion with Van Halen, it gives us a lot to look forward to, folks. Dave is still one of the most electrifying frontmen in all of rock. Granted, I am still a huge Hagar fan, but I would love to see the boys get back with Diamond Dave. Here's hoping.

Well ole Dave's still got it in 'em. I haven't seen Diamond Dave in a few years and when he walked on stage my first impression was, dang he's done got old! He looked like he hadn't been working out and was balding. But he cranked up the band and boy was I surprised.

I was up front near the stage and got to see his facial expressions up close. I truely believe he still loves his craft. He knew how to fire up the crowd without having to beg the crowd to join in. After a couple of songs all hell begain to break loose. He's got a good tight band and you could tell he liked the timing of the bass and the guitar players.

After a while it seemed to be a workout on his vocals and the rest of his body. The old man can still rock!. I liked hearing all the old Van Halen songs but I kinda wanted to hear more of his solo stuff. Dave really knows how to keep the flow of concert going. I was glad that he didn't take long breaks between songs. When he did take a breather it was talking about something that was hiliarious. It's good to see an artist communicate with the audience instead of being separated from us. Looking forward to seeing ya again there Diamond Dave!!

Review by Bryan - bblumer@slingnet.com

Having waited since last year when Dave's solo album was released, it was great to finally see him live. It is obvious that the glory days of VH were far more influenced by Roth than by the other members of the band. Having seen him on the Skyscraper tour in Feb. of '88 in Lakeland, FL, I was very impressed that so many years had passed and he was still able to pull off the tricks and put on the show at that kind of energy level. He sounded and looked as if he were really into it.

The only thing missing from the show was "Unchained". Though I made an effort by yelling it to him from the front row all night. I guess if it wasn't on the set list, there was no changing it. I really could have done without Dance The Night Away and Pretty Woman.

The funniest aspect of the show for me had to be the two blondes (good looking for stareing at 40 in the rear view mirror) standing next to me that he picked out of the audience and had one of his roadies pop up from under the stage and slap back stage passes on their chests. The taller, thinner, better looking of the two was using her tounge and fingers to let Dave "know" that she wanted him. He even said, "Don't point that thing at me, unless you're going to use it." (I thought he might go into "Elephant Gun".) To which she acknowledged she would use it.

So after jumping, bumping, grinding, (you get the picture) for the whole show, my friend and I saw them proceed to the backstage area to apparently make good on their promises and thank Dave for the passes. Not two minutes later they come walking back out and leave. Well, later that night my friend and I saw one of them in the Casino and asked her if they met him. She says (in apparent shock), "Yeah, but he wanted us to go back to the hotel with him. Our husbands are here." Well their husbands certainly weren't with them when they were standing up front next to me doing what they were doing. And what did they think he wanted to do, take them back stage and talk about the socio-economic impact of el nino on aboriginal kangaroo hunts? (I respect, your intellect) I just can't believe I actually witnessed Dave being stood up.

If there is any chance for you to see this show, you must. If there is any chance that Sir Ed can get Dave back in the band, he must. You wouldn't even have to talk to each other. Just ride seperate, sleep seperate, but get on stage together.

Review by Dave Harvey - dhardy1@midsouth.rr.com

This review will be easy: DAVE ROCKED!

I was skeptical at first because I haven't seen him since 1984 in Jackson, MS and I'd seen Sammy twice. I never wasted my money on Gary, he should stay w/ Extreme. Dave, contrary to what some reviews are saying, looked pretty damn good. He seemed to have tons of energy and lots of hair again. His voice was, I'd say perfect. "So This Is Love" was the best song of the night. I kept pinching myself all night wondering if this was real. If only Eddie would get w/ it.

The band was extrememly tight. Bart was good. Eruption sucked but his "Mean Street" intro was right on.

Dave if you're reading this, thanks for coming near Memphis. We want you IN Memphis next time, how about the Pyramid!!!
