Review by Kath S. - shkypete@prodigy.net Dave still kicks ass like no one else. All those stories about Dave being washed up, out of shape, no voice, etc. (probably put out by Eddie Van Halen) are bullshit. I'm here to tell you that THE MAN looks and sounds great! Dave entertained us for almost 2 hours on his 45th birthday. Since this was a small venue (nightclub) it made for a very intimate evening. The set was identical to the House of Blues gig of October 2 in Las Vegas. Only Dave can sing the Van Halen classics. Sammy who? Gary who? And would I go see him again? You bet your sweet ass I would. Dave is the ultimate showman and entertainer. IP: 209.156.123.252 Review by Chris M. It was rumored since the release of the "DLR Band" CD that Diamond Dave would come to New Mexico. It finally happened. And on his birthday yet....to say the least......I'm blown away (why did I even bother coming into work this morning?). The set was the same as the Arizona shows a couple of days prior. No opening band. No encore. Stellar!! Awesome!! OLD SCHOOL VH!!! My ears are still ringing. Dave is showing a little bit of age but hey, there is only one Diamond Dave. A little tweaking of the monitors to Dave's liking was all that was needed after "Hot for Teacher". Kudos to the soundmen and road crew!! This show was only given a one week notice to the Albuquerque fans and the "Midnite Rodeo" was still filled to capacity. Great musicianship in the band itself even without the "Eat Em n' Smile" band (Ray Luzier is a skins genius!!). One thing left to say. Van Gary (Mach 3) blew Albuquerque off on their last tour. DLR didn't. When are you coming back Dave? We'll roll out the red carpet for you. IP: 204.134.42.208 |
