David Lee Roth

To anybody out there who thinks Dave has lost it, FUCK YOU! Diamond Dave tore it up! He played stuff I wasn't even expecting, (Atomic Punk, Little Dreamer etc.)

The Van Halens made a big mistake, the reunion could have been huge but their egos had to get in the way. Dave is and will always be a performer and they just can't deal with that fact. The fans wanted it, Dave wants it but it's old news. In rock & roll there is room for everybody to shine!

Roth'n'Roll was alive and well before our naked steaming eyes Saturday night (Rothtober 2nd) at The House Of Blues in Las Vegas. After a half-hour delay Diamond Dave and the band came out in grand style tearing into classic Van Halen favorites such as Hot For Teacher, Panama, Little Guitars, Everybody Wants Some, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, Little Dreamer, Mean Street, So This Is Love, Ice Cream Man, Runnin' With The Devil, Pretty Woman, Eruption, You Really Got Me, and Jump. The band was exceptionally tight, and played with a fury that rivaled the Van Halen of '78 to '84!

Bart Walsh, Todd Jensen, and Ray Luzier seemed as pumped and enthusiastic as Diamond Dave himself. The whole band performed with a hunger and an ass-kicking attitude that is rarely seen these days in rock 'n' roll. David Lee Roth has put together a very finely tuned, well-oiled band! As I always do during a live DLR concert, between songs, or when Dave would do his humorous crowd engaging bits, they'd turn up the lights, and I looked around to see nothing but happy, smiling faces. Dave always brings out the kid in everybody.

The Van Halen's were idiots to let Dave go, and he's proving them wrong every step of the way. His dancing, karate kicks, jumps, and overall athletic ability were better than ever, and he electrified and delighted the crowd. Hard to believe this man is 45 years young, he's in incredible shape! You'll never, I repeat NEVER see a Hagar, or a Van Halen 3 concert, where the crowd goes as nuts as they do for Diamond Dave!

After the concert, there was a communal feeling of great joy, like something special had been witnessed! It was special, the legend of David Lee Roth continues, it is a living legend! Can't wait to catch the DLR Band live again as soon as possible!

Just saw David Lee couple of nights ago and I'm trying to collect my memory. While he was entertaining, there's something about seeing somebody almost 20 years apart. 1980 was my 1st with Roth and now 1999. How is it the same person hasn't changed at all, it's almost scary same wrap, same facial expressions same everything. A DJ here said it best, he thought he was back in high school.

I guess what I'm trying to say I thought something would've changed in 20 yrs. Now don't get me wrong I liked the show but it's the same show I saw in 80, only Roth was part of a better band back then. Sad thing is I'll go again and I'll see Hagar again but I look forward to seeing Van Halen than the other 2.

I went to the David Lee Roth show last Saturday night in Las Vegas. The House of Blues was great. Up close to the stage. The show was a good way to spend a Saturday night but very disappointing from a musical perspective.

I saw Van Halen at the Joint about a year ago and, in terms of producing good music, they blew Roth away. Each of the guys in Van Halen were great musicians and the music totally kicked ass. Roth never got totally into his music and spent too much time entertaining. Plus he was lude in a wanta be/aging sex symbol way. His band played well but they are being directly compared against one of the all time great bands.

To give Roth credit, at the opening of the concert the sound set-up was completly off and he was they only one to recognize it. He continued to sing the song while professionally dealing with the issue. He got it fixed and the sound quality is great.

If Roth is what you're into, more power to you. It was fun. But, Van Halen is much better off without Roth. Their music is great, not an entertainment side show.
