Review by Mick Moore - killergraffix@home.com Mick from San Diego here... What can I say, Diamond Dave was at the top of his game Sunday night in San Diego at the SDSU Outdoor Ampitheatre. He blew through a set of the all time favorite early VH tunes including Mean Street, Unchained, Little Guitars, Runnin' With The Devil, and Panama, among many others. He also played Tobacco Road, and Yankee Rose. His kicks and spins were a little rusty, but still the trademark Dave with lots of pranks and jeers at the audience. His guitar player from the VH cover band Atomic Punks was the best I've seen and pulled off Edward's leads note for note. The bass player was pure adrenalin and the drummer would definitely give Alex a run for his money. The most impressive was an aikido demonstration with a staff that looked straight out a Stephan Seagal picture. I don't think Seagal could work a staff with that much precision. No wonder no-one in VH, including Sammy, ever dared give him any shit, Dave would have kicked their ass hands down. All I can say is, if ol' Dave's comin' your way, you won't want to miss this show. It takes you back to that first VH tour, with all the power and zaniness. Only a reunion of the original line-up could be any better! IP: 207.158.1.6 Review by Dominique Hinojosa - Dominiki@IX.NETCOM.COM I've seen Bart play with the Atomic Punks about 10 times, so I kind of knew what to expect. It was good to see Dave again. He put on a great show. However I wish that I never saw the Atomic Punks before, because I use to hearing these songs every month. Well to completley honest, the new Atomic Punks (without bart) sound more like early VH than Dave's new line up. Since everybody wants a VH reunion tour (including me), VH should hire the singer from Atomic Punks. He's a dead ringer of Dave in his twenties. And he can still sing the highs on (On Fire) live. Most of all he's just a funny as Dave. This is the only hope we have since there is too much animosity (especially w/ Alex). And Eddie does not need the money. So I think VH owes it's original fans a tour. And so does the rest of the world. Once making it down to the aisle it turned out there wasnt a first row so it was best seat in the house time and man did it rock! IT WAS AN EPIC SHOW.......the only thing that would have had it prefect would have been if it was dark out for the lighting and all. The fact it rocked is old news, only shock of the night was how sad Bad Company was, was unwatchable. Cant wait till we get our LA show!!!!! IP: 205.188.193.151 |
