Review by Lisa Agte - lagte@gonzaga.edu Dave's the man! He's still got it, and always will! We went to see Dave last night with Bad Company and it was definitely worth it! He had the crowd on their feet throughout his entire set! It would be nice to see him with Van Halen again, but if it never happens at least I got to see Diamond Dave live!!! Let's hope he sticks to his word and does come back to Spokane next year. Roth n Roll!!! IP: 206.96.93.31 Review by Jim Whitney - jwitnee@netscape.net This was EXACTLY how a Rock n' Roll show should look! I have seen Dave with and without Van Halen. I have never seen him sound so freakin' good and have NEVER seen him as happy as he appeared last night. He had an audience ageing anywhere from 16 to 65 in that crowd, half of them probably came just to see Bad Company. But the moment he bounced on stage, he took control of them ALL and never let go. I have NEVER seen anything like it in my whole life. I was lookin' at the crowd coming in and thought, "Ok, Dave is gonna piss a lot of these folks off. They're not here to see him, not THIS bunch." I couldn't believe my eyes when he came out and started rocking LOUD and HEAVY - These people went absolutely nuts! I read reviews where they said the crowd was on their feet nearly the whole time....that is EXACTLY what it was like! I took a friend who knew nothing of Dave, and he got into more than I did (yes he's a fan now). Dave didn't do the "Sammy Slam", just let his show do the talking. It was a picture perfect rock event and I am truely sorry for any of you who have never gotten to see him live because he's the ONLY one in the business right now that gets it - "GIVE THE PEOPLE A FUCKIN SHOW WILL YA?!?!" He did that and more. He's the whole package. Thanks for the last 20 years Dave; see ya next year. IP: 205.188.199.42 Review by Derek Humes - DANDMHUMES@aol.com The DLR Band just stormed through this town. I had not seen Dave since the Skyscraper tour. But I can tell you, it was well worth the wait. The band sizzled through a 60 minute set that was solid from top to bottom. The crowd here in Spokane, as usual, were slow to get into things. But once the band hit the opening notes of Runnin' With The Devil, Dave had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand. Sure Dave used a lot of the same corny lines that he has for years, but he was fun and the crowd had fun. Along with the change in musical times, the fun has disappeared from today's music. Remember the days when you actually got your money's worth from the concert that you were seeing? Not only did you get some incredible music, but the performer actually did more than stand in front of an amp and sing into a microphone. Dave was kicking and spinning and just looked like he was having fun. Can you imagine what it would be like if some of today's musicians actually developed some sort of personality, got over themselves and stopped taking themselves so seriously. Well, fortunately, David Lee Roth is back on the road again and you don't have to wonder any more. Bart played a mean guitar, but he is just not Eddie. I don't think that he should have played Eruption. Not that he didn't play it well, but that is an Eddie signature and should have been left alone. Other than that, the band was very good. I couldn't help but wonder though, how great the show could have been with Eddie, Alex and Michael playing behind him. Oh well, the show rocked and I finally got my money's worth again. Thanks for the show Dave, keep up the good work. IP: 152.163.201.83 |
