Review by Frank I've read some reviews stating how great DLR has been. NOT TRUE. The set-list was excellent; however, the set-list is only one part of the show. I'm sorry but David was not great by any standards. He was at worse shitty and at best ok. The band was very tight and played very well but David seemed lost and aimless much of the time. Often when he was singing he was alright but whenever there was a lapse between lines he didn't know what to do with himself. David kept doing the "turn-around" kick apparently he hasn't learned any new moves. Oh, by the way, how many more times is he going to say, "Look at all the people here tonight?" David said he had a little drinking problem during the show. I think he has lost a few too many brain cells. I would recommend going to the show but don't expect Diamond Dave to be sparkling. David Lee Roth kicked my ass. It was an excellent show by all means. It was awesome to hear the classics like "Little Guitars" and "Mean Street". David was wearing this black outfit with flourescent polka dots on it. He was ready to party. He really knew how to fire up the crowd. He was definately the man of the night. The back up vocals were sounding great also and Bart ripped it up on the guitar. He sounded phenomenal. I couldn't believe my ears. Dave is the man and I am proud to say that I got to see such a stellar show from him. The only thing better could be a reunion of the original VH. Other highlights was "So This is Love?" which began with a story about how his girlfriend said she never wanted to talk to him again and he said good, he was looking forward to the peace and quiet. I was excited just because that is typical Dave attitude and it just added to the atmosphere. It was a great show and I recommend anyone who can to go see it. IP: 205.188.197.36 Review by A.Mikkelson & P.Bodis - borrisbadnov@webtv.net Dave and co. came out smoking at Alpine Valley tonight. Dressed in black spandex with flouresent lip print outfit, Dave was here for one reason: to remind us all how the old Van Halen ruled the rock world supreme!! The set list was the same as most I've seen with one noticeable exception: only 1/2 of eruption was played before they leaped into You Really Got Me. Even 1/2 of eruption was enough to draw a heavy chorus of boos from the crowd. That aside, Dave is as good as ever. His perma smile in place, all the gyrations and acrobatic leaps were just as good as we all remember. One personal wish would be a liitle bit more solo material. There are too many good songs off his latest effort to ignore. The highlight of the night had to be Dave using a bottle of Jack Daniels as an extension of his privates and covering a beautiful babe in the front row in a climatic rage!!! Vintage Dave.
If this tour was promoted, this could be the show of the 99 season. Dave
needs to leave Bad Company in his rearview mirror. They were extremely
bland and much to our suprise, when we left less than 1/2 way into
their set, the parking lots were full with people, must talking about
the incredible show the diamond one had just put on. Dave has some really
cool tour shirts, but $30.00 for a t-shirt?!? C'mon Dave, give us a break.

Review by Sheri Johnson - Spridl5@yahoo.com After reading the set list for this show, I felt this was a "can't miss" set.. I was right.. I drove almost 2 hours by myself just to catch the disappointly short, yet well worth the trip one hour set DLR played. Shocked at the tragic turnout for tremendous sets played by both Dave and Bad Company, I was thrilled to see that the small crowds did not get either of these bands down.. The crowds were "small but mighty!" Dave, in his finest form, true to the music first, had clearly spent numerous hours on his voice before embarking on this tour.. I felt that Dave had truly done all of the songs justice... AND THEN SOME!!!! I'm sure you can imagine how excited I was to score an aftershow pass when Dave was doing his encore.. Only to be disappointed in the end as Dave chose not to meet and greet the "psyched" group of fans that managed to get their hands on such a "coveted" pass. Without question, DLR and his band.. showed his true fans that he could, and will continue to be true to the music, and give the fans what they want.. Kudos to you!!! Diamond Dave and band!!! IP: 204.248.160.170 Review by Eric David Lee Roth is my favorite. But he pretty much changed my mind after I saw him perform. The band as a whole was just, great. I only saw from half the DLR show. Well all of my freinds give me crap on how he is not straight. But they also wanted to see the guy that we all grew up with. Dave was grabbing, and touching himself. You know, the seen that was cool back in the eighties but not anymore. He made himself look like he is gay but didn't say he was. I recommend you all go see DLR, But keep in mind he acts a little fruity. IP: 205.184.147.42 Review by Ron Higgins - rhiggins@execpc.com Went to the DLR show on Saturday night at Alpine Valley in WI. The venue holds 40,000 when it's full. Dave took the stage to a crowd of about 1,000 people. By the time he finished up, the crowd had grown to the number of tickets sold, 4,000. This was the first time I've ever seen Dave live. I've seen Bart Walsh once before as part of the Atomic Punks. The set list was good. Classic Van Halen, with Yankee Rose and Tobacco Road thrown in from the solo days. No Slam Dunk. :( The crowd was into the show, and Dave was working the crowd. It looked like Dave had a whole routine worked out. It was almost like the entire show was choreographed. The crowd was into it though. Bart played decent, changed guitars a couple of times, but didn't really seem into the show much. It was like he was just there to play guitar, and nothing else. I dunno why they had a mic on his side of the stage, maybe it was to hold picks, because he never sang into it (as far as I saw). Speaking of singing, I thought that the bass player and drum player did a great job on backup vocals! Dave was good as well. Better than I expected. I dunno if it was part of the act or not, but it sure did look like he forgot the words to You Really Got Me. :) Dave never ventured far from center stage....even during the guitar solo, he just kinda went off to the side of the stage and stood. I dunno who it was, but there was a short haired female on stage assisting Dave from time to time. She was video taping the show. Everyone but Dave ran off the stage at end, but Dave was standing there like, where the hell is everyone going? The crowd was going nuts. Finally the guys came back out for the encore of Jump. When Dave grabbed that shiny bar and started to twirl it around....oh my god! That was incredible! I knew he was going to do it, but it took me off guard. Jump finished up, and Dave stood out there on stage, still working the crowd. Dave kicked some serious ass that night let me tell you. Even though there weren't many people there, it didn't bother Dave. He seemed like he was playing to 40,000, instead of the 4,000 that was actaully there.
