This was the first show I've seen from DLR.

I thought DLR was very pathetic because he, and his well playing band, played three non-Van Halen songs during the whole evening.

I did not go to the show to see a Van Halen coverband, because there are a lot of good coverbands in the world but I want to see DLR and his solo period.

I think Dave has a problem. He can not forget the past, in this period of time all splitted bands come together and celebrate their reunion with a lot of money, he is not accepted by his former band. After seeing the show I know why, he is not dynamic as Gary, he has no voice like Gary, etc.

After all, I have enjoyed myself hearing those old songs again and see DLR working out on stage.

Look at all the people here tonight...! I've heard you missed me, so I'm back!

With these words David Lee Roth started his sold out Amsterdam-Paradiso show on this date, June 09, 1999!

Great, great, great!!

I have not enough words for this concert! All the classic Van Halen songs from the Dave era!

Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, Jump, Runnin' With The Devil, Panama, Pretty Woman, Ice Cream Man includes Dave's intro ..... performed on the right way with an absolute GREAT looking David Lee Roth includes all his jumps and kicks! He was in top form, just like in the old days, more then 90 minutes long!

We have this concert complete on tape and if my pictures are ready I sent them with the complete playlist.

By the way, we missed Edward, Alex and Michael... Dave's guitarist is good, but a bad copy of Edward.

Well, I have to say DAVE STILL ROCKS!!

And what a venue to start your World tour! For those of you who have never been to the Paradiso club it's an old church which can hold about 1200 people. Although is relatively small, it's absolutely one of the best venues in Holland. And the man himself agreed to that!

Anyway, he was in excellent shape, did karate kicks throughout the show and had some very cool one-liners! They started off with Hot for Teacher which really got the crowd wild..... I was standing in the front row and really had to hold on to the boarding (or whatever it's called) not to lose my spot.

The only downpoint I can think right now of is that they only played for about 90 minutes. I think that's a bit short nowadays.....

All in all a night to remember

Setlist: The only songs the band didn't play (from the list on the homepage) were:

Beautiful Girls
Romeo Delight
Jamies Cryin' (not sure about this one though)

And here he was the worlds greatest frontman in a sold out Paradiso. The show was so fucking exellent. The energy, the band, the audience...the party is back.

Yesterday I went to see David Lee Roth in Amsterdam's Paradiso Club. It was the worst show I've ever seen in my entire life. Bottom line is Mr. Roth can't sing anymore. Monkeysounds is the best way to describe his style of singing nowadays.

Very clever to put two instrumentalists in his band (the drummer and "just" the bassplayer) who are blessed with reasonable voices to do the backgrounds.

A setlist consisting of three Roth songs (Slam Dunk, Yankee Rose and Tobacco Road) and circa 15 Van Halen tunes that sounded like shit altogether. Sure, it was nice to hear a VH track like Little Guitars live again, but Roth and his "Rothettes" clearly raped the classic songs.

And then the guitarplayer. What an ass. Not only was he impersonating Eddie's guitarplaying but also his looks, trying to smile all the time, just like Edward does. What a joke. And what's the use of playing "Spanish Fly" and "Eruption" when you're the guitarplayer in David Lee Roth's band? Huh? I simply don't get it.

I read on Roth's official website that he's doing this tour because "the fans want to hear the songs like they were recorded on the albums". What a joke (again). Dave never, ever has recreated something on the stage just like he did on an album.

When I drove home yesterday evening, I put on a live tape of Van Halen's "3" tour, and I realised, there is only one MIGHTY VAN HALEN. And Dave's not a part of it, thank God!
