Meeting Michael Anthony again! Saturday night 10/28, while standing in the line to Sharkeez bar in Huntington Beach, to get in, Michael Anthony walked by me and said, "Hey Gene you got no clout, you can't get in?", I went OMG!!!!!!! Michael Anthony! I did the Wayne/Garth we're not worthy salute, and no one recognized him but me.. we talked quickly about his hot sauce, website and he took a gratuitous pic with me! he then walked down to the next bar (I guess it was lame because he came right back) anyway, he then got in line next to me and started talking to me further he then introduced me to his wife and daughter.. the bouncer had no idea who he was and I had to tell him (the Bouncer) he was one of the greatest bass players and he was with Van Halen...So the bouncer asked to see his id, and Mike showed it to him and the bouncer let Mike and his family and friends in, but Mike then motioned to me, "Let's go Gene", and invited me to party with himself and his family! once inside I learned that Mike and his wife Sue were celebrating 25 years of marriage.. he brought me one drink after another, we talked about Madanthonycafe.com his website, the first time I saw Van Halen in 1978 with Black Sabbath and other things....

I told him I had been there at Devore for the other half tour, missed him at the Tahoe Cabo as he didn't play the second weekend in May. He then asked to take a few pics with me and we took two pics with his wife taking the photo's. He introduced me to his daughter and she and I took a couple of pics together. He loved my costume and kept telling me over and over that he thought it was incredible and that my makeup was dead on... He would motion to me every 4 - 5 minutes with his hand in the "I love you position and then stick it between his chin while sticking his tongue out. He and his wife would sporadically talk to me and ask me about the area, what I liked, where I came from, what I did for a living, etc...I talked to his wife, she was wonderful and very sweet. They were so appreciative that not only did I recognize Mike, I was kind enough to show my appreciation and bestow my years of being a dedicated Van Halen fan... I will say this, Micheal Anthony is one of the most down to earth, kindest people I have ever met. His love for his wife and daughter were trulyobvious that night. He is a true consumant family man and it showed in his interaction with his family.

Best part was hearing that high voiced laugh on a few rap songs that came out. My drink was never empty either. Mike bought me drinks and I not wanting to take advantage of this, returned the favor. We partied till he and his wife had to leave... the best part was he kept coming over and sticking his tongue out, calling me Gene over and over again....
