Mike's New "Aquatic Bass"

The February 15 edition of the San Diego Reader
features an interesting article about Michael Anthony. According to the report, Mike
appeared at an art gallery in La Jolla a few weeks ago to receive a hand-painted Yamaha
bass guitar from marine artist, Christian Lassen.
The painted guitar is a Yamaha 5-string electric bass, although it's not known if it's
the same or similar to the recently released BB3000MA 4-string that Mike endorses. Lassen
hand-painted dolphins on the guitar body and headstock, with planets and stars lining
the fret board.
Lassen commented:
"I hope it's not going to be one of the ones he smashes into the drum kit"
The article, written by Kristen Collier, also reveals that Mike recorded
background vocals on Lassen's album which was released in 1998. You can

2000 has come and gone, and I don't have to tell you that it was probably
the most frustrating year ever in the life of Van Halen fans. "No news is
good news" got old real fast.
