Hi!

We've had many replies to letters we've posted here and we are gratified to
find that there are many open minded Van Halen fans out there. Some of the
replies have, indeed, been very moving and supportive. It has been a really
difficult time for both sets of fans - it isn't a happy time for anyone but
it is very comforting for us to know that the majority of you are going to
give Gary, whom we love to pieces, a fair chance. We only hope that we
might go some way to reassure you that, although Van Halen will be
different with Gary singing, it will still be a shit hot rock band.

We were asked by many of you to recommend some Extreme stuff which would
acquaint you with Gary's style and ability. We'll do that with pleasure...
it ain't no hard chore!!!!! From the first album, "Extreme", Smoke Signals,
Kid Ego, Play With Me and Teacher's Pet. From "Pornograffitti", listen to
Decadence Dance, It('s a Monster),  Pornograffitti and Suzi. Peacemaker Die
and Am I Ever Gonna Change from "III Sides To Every Story" and Naked, No
Respect, Tell Me Something I Don't Know and Leave Me Alone from "Waiting
For The Punchline". These songs are all ones we think will prove that Gary
is above and beyond capable of doing excellent work with Van Halen.
However, to really get to know him and understand his versatility and
strength you do need to listen to all the albums. He has a depth in his
lyrics that is beyond comparison, and he certainly shouldn't be judged by
the odd Pornograffitti era single that has been pulled out of its context.

You are very right, we are incredibly proud of him (as we are of all the
guys in Extreme) and we hope that you'll become so too.

Meanwhile we've been busy buying up any Van Halen we can lay our hands on
at the moment. Not having really known the band before this, we are now
quite impressed and are looking forward to hearing the results of what, we
are very certain, will be a very SPECIAL collaboration.
