Break Time
August 7, 1998 - The VHND won't be updated over the next week - I'm taking a short break in the snowfields of Australia. Before I go, there's a bit of news going around, so here's the latest update. Album Network Broadcast: Don't forget to tune into your local Album Network affiliate on August 7 and 8 to hear Van Halen LIVE from the current world tour. Initially we reported that the Pittsburgh show (7/24) was to be broadcast. We're now hearing that they may actually use the tape from Hershey (7/26) instead. According to reports, there were some technical difficulties with the Pittsburgh show, so the decision was made to go with Hershey instead. Or, they could go with a combination of both shows! Boston HRC Appearance: Edward and Gary will be appearing at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, MA at 4PM on August 12 as guest DJ's for WAAF. This will be followed by a live performance. If you're in Boston, tune in to WAAF for a chance to win tickets.

Take Two!
August 14, 1998 - Van Halen returned to Great Woods in Mansfield, MA tonight for a make-up show after cancelling on Thursday after only 4 songs. The show stopped after Mean Street when Gary lost his voice and couldn't continue. After approx 15 minutes, Edward and Alex came out and announced that all tickets would be honored the following night. True to form, Van Halen made up for the night before by putting on an awesome show in front of Gary's home crowd. Hello Florida! August 21, 1998 - One of the most frequently asked questions we get from readers is "When is the band coming to Florida?". Well, finally, we have the answer! 
Van Halen will play the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC on September 15. The next day they hit Florida! On September 16 they play the House of Blues in Orlando, followed by the Sunrise Theater in Fort Lauderdale on September 17. After that the band will stop over for a show in Puerto Rico on September 20 before heading down to South America for the first time since 1983! Mirrors Needed August 7, 1998 - If you would like to be a mirror site for the tour videos page, please drop me an email. Every time a new video is posted, the VHND slows to a crawl due to the heavy load. Sammy RumourAugust 7, 1998 - I'm hearing reports that Sammy Hagar may be making his acting debut on the CBS show Nash Bridges in the near future. No confirmation from the Sammy camp just yet. Tour RumoursAugust 15, 1998 - According to the Official Dream Theater web site, Van Halen may be playing some South American dates with DT on September 25, 26 and 27. III Goes GoldAugust 26, 1998 - Van Halen III has been certified gold by the RIAA, 5 months after release. Gold indicates sales of 500,000 copies in the USA.
