III Debuts at #4March 25, 1998 - Not even a new album from Van Halen could knock Titanic from the #1 spot on the Billboard album charts this week. Van Halen III debuted at #4 with sales of 191,000 - 9,000 copies behind the #2 album by Celine Dion. The Titanic soundtrack sold 455,000 copies! Van Halen's three previous studio albums (Best Of Volume 1, Balance and For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge) all debuted at #1 on the charts. Inside Issue #10March 27, 1998 - Subscribers to the Official Van Halen Magazine are in for a treat this month, with issue #10 arriving in the mail very soon if it hasn't already! The Inside is now the Official Van Halen magazine, fully endorsed by the band and it's management.
Issue #10 is packed with brand new photos of the band with new lead singer, Gary Cherone. There is also a full track by track review of the new album, Van Halen III. This is only the beginning! The best part about this issue is the interviews the magazine conducted at 5150 last December. The first interview is titled "...the III Amigos! and features 11 pages of questions, answers and conversation with Mike, Alex and Gary. It seems (on paper, anyway) that this interview went for hours! Next is an interview with the man behind the curtain, Van Halen's Tour Manager, Scotty Ross. This is the guy who makes the Van Halen road show run like clockwork. If you want to know all about the band's plans for the upcoming world tour, Scotty has all the info for you. Finally, there's the interview with Edward Van Halen. In this 8 page feature, Ed talks extensively about the making of the new album and the upcoming world tour. All interviews are scattered with exclusive photos that you won't see anywhere else. If you haven't seen the magazine yet, check out their web site for a preview of the current issue, as well as the back issues. You'll be glad you did. |
