Chickenfoot Update from Joe & Michael

Chickenfoot spent part of May holed up in the foot locker working on their second album, due sometime later this year.

*Joe Satriani says, “Chickenfoot’s second album is almost finished, and we’re hoping to mix sometime in June. It is heavier, and better than the first one, and I can’t wait to get it out there!”

*Michael Anthony says, “Been in the studio with Sammy, Chad and Joe finishing up the recording on the new Chickenfoot CD and having a blast!”

*Mad Anthony’s Cafe has opened shop on Facebook. Drop on by and say Hello here.

*Summer’s the best time to enjoy Michael Anthony’s award-winning MAD ANTHONY sauces! His hot sauces, BBQ sauces, and Fiery Mustard sauce are amazing! So fire things up this summer and load up on some here.

i like the HOT SAUCE !

  • Michael C.

2011 will be going down in my book as one of the best years of rock in a long, long time once we get the new VH and Chickenfoot material. Two guitar masters, surely raising the bar once again to satisfy our voracious appetites. LOL. I can’t wait.

  • anythingleftinthatbottle

Love the name of their band! It rocks!

  • Mark

Oh Hell YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The foot puttin down the tracks. Cannot wait!!!

  • jasonbourne

It’ll be fun to see how they, VH and Chickenfoot try to out do each other. It’ll be more fun to learn this was all planned and they tour together !!!

  • RobCT

If there is any “competition” between VH and CF, only we the fans will benefit! I’m looking forward to offerings from both bands! Is that a video camera I spy in the picture as well? If it is, very nice of CF to give the fans something to see at home!

  • Michael C.

@ jasonbourne….Could you imagine??? What if all of this nonsense was just a smoke screen and VH and CF were planning a tour all along??!! And the best part was, Roth_Leaps was the promoter and brains behind it all!! LOLOL!! He’s actually a roadie for Sammy!! LOL. Or a scorned lover!! LOL!!

  • BrownSound101

    The sauces do look tasty!!

  • Dooley

I’m very confident the CF album will set the bar high.
Hoping for something great from VH. The big question mark
there is how Mike’s absence will affect the band. Creating something new is more of a challenge than a nostalgia tour. Just how Ed Al Dave & Wolf adjust in the studio will be interesting.

Didn’t know Mike added Hot Firey Mustard to his line. I’m on it. The hot sauce is great to kick-up a bowl of chili.

  • TearItUp

New VH & Chickenfoot, the planets are aligning people. Sounds like a ROCKIN’ fall & 2012 is ahead for us!!

Definitely wanna try that hot mustard!

  • Kayser Sozay

New VH and CF. 2011 stands to be a great year.

    ATTN: VH Public Relations
    Dear Janie Van Halen,

I am a long-time Van Halen fan, but I don’t understand your passive marketing strategy. The website van-halen.com’s last update is from Dec 29 2009 wishing everyone a Happy New Year for 2010. Is bradman@van-halen.com (the listed webmaster for van-halen.com) still alive?

My guess is you are trying to create buzz by keeping things secret until the big reveal.

Well, to be honest, things haven’t been completely secret in the VH camp. We’ve seen a couple of pics of Eddie at NAMM and elsewhere here on vhnd.com, but if it wasn’t for vhnd.com we’d all be completely in the dark.

    A suggestion…

I’m not really interested in Chickenfoot’s new album, but I’d like to recommend that you please take note of how CF are marketing themselves by posting just a couple of pics here and there of their recording progress on the internet. Like I said, I have little interest in CF, but when I see these guys in the studio with big grins on their faces I have to confess I am getting interested in what they are working on. So, please go find bradman@van-halen.com and carry his long-dead carcass away from his Pentium 4 Win XP computer and hire a new webmaster who cares. Then please post 2 (that’s all we need) cool pics of VH in the studio and you will instantly have a lot more people excited about what VH are up to and in a positive way. This long darkness/silence has left a negative impression on me, Janie, and I am frustrated with the lack of information from you and the official VH website. VH is one of the few bands left that actually advocates fun, and in the past have built excitement and anticipation before an album with interviews and pictures, and so far the long darkness has been pretty un-exciting. Thanks for reading.

Dr. Raven…..I firmly second that motion!

  • Kayser Sozay

    Well said, Doctor.

  • Dooley

    Dr. Raven Dominates !!!

  • topjimmy77

    What the Dr ordered!!!!

  • =VH=Rob

Well said, Dr. Raven. As a website designer and engineer, I’ve cringed at the official Van Halen site since it was first launched. No offense to those who built it, as I’m sure their hearts were in the right place and they did everything to the best of their ability. They’re probably fans themselves.

A brand like Van Halen should have a website that is as cool as their music, however possible that may be. It should be visually stimulating, content fresh, educational, and it should be simple to interact with. Fans should be able to share their stories and affection for our beloved band, they should be able to interact with other Van Halen fans, share concert photos, and all the other great things technology allows for these days. The website should also be easily maintained. Say Wolfy wants to snap a photo from the stage or studio and upload it to flickr, which then would propagate to the front page of the official website. While they’re on tour Janie may want to drop a message on twitter about the most recent show, which would update their home page. Those are relatively easy things to build and are little things that go a long ways. It keeps fans engaged, site views would go up and ultimately they’d sell more iTunes songs, albums and merchandise.

Heck, I’d do the damn thing from free. Just because I’m a lifelong fan and I’d more than make up for the opportunity costs with future gigs because it’s in my portfolio. Who knows, maybe Ed and boys like the flow of information just the way it is and that’s the way it’s going to be. That’s their right. But since I know Van Halen fans and that we’d love to have a stronger connection to the band, the offer will always stand.

  • littledreamer

My wishful thinking is that the release of the album will accompany a completely revamped website. Dave has said in an interview in 2001 that Eddie and Alex have so much in their vault that they owe it to the fans to release these stuff. VH has an abandoned website for some time. We need Dave back to drive that bus.

  • wooten

And I can’t wait to hear it!

  • Sparks in ’11

Dr. Raven, Well played. Hope that effort was not in vain. Excessive silence on the part of camp VH has shifted from mysterious to irritating. I expect to be annoyed with my job and my bills. Not my rock and roll outlet.

  • pat

@littledreamer…dave has been on board that bus for over 4 years now so he is a part of this problem.to not update your own web page in this day and age is unbelievable but its like van halen isnt even aware its the 21st century now.

  • famac

It’s interesting to see Sammy back there in the closet doing vocals.

  • spinblastr

This will culminate with a VH/Chickenfoot world tour. I’ll be there. At the Garden, with friends.

  • Michael C.

@ famac….That’s funny. I didn’t even notice him until you pointed him out. LOL.

  • No Mas Tony

I love the sound of “HEAVIER AND BETTER than the first one.”— that’s the only thing I felt some of the songs from their first album were lacking. More substance to the arrangement and lyrics. Joe is definitely the driving force in the band (IMO) and Sammy was wise to suggest that he take the smaller booth and give Satch the larger one to buffer him from Chad’s drums. I can’t wait for more chicken… foot.

speaking of chicken, Mad Anthony’s extra hot BBQ on chicken wings… perfect for some out door grilling. YUMMY!

  • No Mas Tony

Oh, p.s.— Dr Raven, you should write that same thing on Eddie VH’s facebook page. But they’ll instantly ban you. (they did to me when I asked why Mike wasn’t in VH guitar hero :-( )

  • John

I can’t speak for Brad, as I haven’t had any contact with him for a few years. What I will say is, don’t blame him. I don’t know the extent of his involvement anymore. Ed’s wife is the bands publicist and Irving Azoff is running the show. Ed always seemed untrusting if the Internet, anyway. I think they are being very guarded totally on purpose. I don’t think they give a shit what the fans want, as they’ve shown us by their treatment of Mike. They know we’re VH junkies dying for a fix, and no matter how much they shit on us, we’ll keep coming back. They have the upper hand….

  • S

Total media ban. VH are at the controls and they don’t want anything said or seen until the album drops. Ego. Paranoia. Years of neglect. Weather this approach makes a bigger bang for the album remains to be seen. We’ll all find out soon if its really all about the music!

  • http://james5313@sbcglobal.net james

I’ll be grilling up some some tasty eats this summer with my Mad Anthoney BBQ sauce blasting the new foot and hopefully new VH album. OH YEAH….The perfect day!!!

  • Craig

Well put, Dr. Raven. VH has been basically out of the communicating-with-fans business since about 1999 after it was clear VHIII didn’t work. Most bands now have very robust websites and keep fans up to date with what they are doing. Look to U2 and Iron Maiden as perfect examples of this (they also have paid fan clubs that don’t cost much but allow fans better access and tickets). Van Halen can and should follow this strategy but we still get “no news is good news” and Happy New Year 2010!

  • Carnal Knowledge

What a year we are in for!

    New for 2011:

    Rival Sons
    Black Country Communion
    Whitesnake
    Van Halen
    Chickenfoot
    Jane’s Addiction

Just to list a few!! Can’t wait

  • TearItUp

So far, the new Whitesnake album (Forevermore) is the best album of the year. It’s ROCKIN’ from start to finish & Coverdale’s voice still sounds great!!

I’m hoping the new VH album can change all that? :)

  • SCAR

Shit, I’m ready for new kick ass tunes from both VH and the Foot, I have my reservation for rehab – do you? It’s gonna be a fucking righteous ride!!!!!!!!!!!! PARTY THE FUCK ON!!!!!!!!!!

  • hikerman

Cant wait for the new music, gonna be a great one from both band’s, it will give me somthing new to listen too while I’m hiking out of the Grand Canyon in October

  • whambamsam

    Bring on Foot IV!!!

Missed em the first time around – won’t miss em again!
Can you guys really imagine a Foot/VH tour? I know that’s wishful thinking, but with these guys ya never know, ya know?

  • F’n Rockstar

The New Peppers album comes out Aug. 30th……hmmmmmmmmmm can anyone say Peppers/Foot tour?????

It would be sick…. you KNOW Chad could pull it off.
