New Sammy Hagar DVD in the works

The hardest working guy in rock and roll, Sammy Hagar, has a new DVD in the works entitled “Go There Once, Be There Twice,” produced and edited by Paul Ware. Could be the long awaited follow up to his fantastic five-hour “Long Road To Cabo” DVD? No word yet on a release date.

Here’s a short sample from the DVD – a live version of “RED” with video footage covering 4 decades of Sammy Hagar’s career:

  • Kayser Sozay

Pretty cool. That footage goes WAY back. And Holy Jesus, I’d forgotten how sturdy Michael Anthony’s mullet was in the day.

  • Shawn

That video is amazing. What a blast down memory lane!!

  • Mr Bear

Sammy rocks!! From Montrose-Chickenfoot. Thank you Sammy. Can’t wait for the new album.

  • MA=VH

Great tune with a good look into the past. Looking forward to this DVD.

Kayser, I was thinking the same thing and also how many looks Sammy’s had too. Not all of them were homeruns but the 80s weren’t a good fashion decade…

  • Good Idea

I’m a fan of all of Sammy’s work. I think that it’s great to have a DVD that really shows how much Sammy Hagar has done over the years. There’s so much more to him than just Van Halen and Chickenfoot (while those are still great examples of the guy’s work, nonetheless). The best part is, he doesn’t seem to be done just yet. His footprint on rock music is still not complete.

i will be defiantly getting this.
I was disappointed in the “Livin’ It Up in St. Louis” DVD,
they cut out ALOT of the songs that i wanted to hear again.

example: they left out Humans Being, Bass Solo, Runnin With The Devil, Top Of The World, Judgement Day, Why Cant This Be Love, Three Lock Box and Shaka Doobie.

  • Panama Red

Pretty freaking cool! I’m looking forward to more Sammy material – music, DVD, book. Man that guy never rests. When I think of other people his age that I know i.e. In-laws and what they look like and how they act I can’t hardly understand how Sammy still seems so young. The dude is one of a kind.
I love the video,it’s really cool. I’m glad VHND posted it so more people would come across it. VHND rocks.

@ Good Idea – Well said, good post.

This looks like a interesting DVD
ill definitely give it a look when it is released!

Gotta love the 5150 sitting in the background at the beginning… missing knobs and all! haha

when it is all said and done, this guy will leave a pretty fuckin solid legacy as a killer vocalist and first and foremost, a musician.
given, i love the guy, but i think the wabos/beach/waitress! vibe is tarnishing his talent and level as a great, great singer and frontman.
chickenfoot has saved that, and hypothetically, if he was VH’s first vocalist, he would be given the same, if not more kudos than the diamond one still receives today, after half a dozen mediocre solo albums and a somewhat questionable reunion with the VH family.
people can say what they want about sam, but he still remains as solid as ever as a musician and artist.

Sammy is like the energizer bunny. Keeps going and going and going. I’ve got all of his dvds and haven’t been dissapointed yet. I am sure this one will be another welcome addition to my collection. Will be cool if there is more CF footage and more solo stuff. Can’t wait!!!!!

MEDIOCRE SOLO ALBUMS AND AWKWARD STAGE PRESENCE SUMS IT UP NOT TO MENTION CHICKENFOOT TRACKS THAT NEED SERIOUS EDITING. SOME OF THE TRANSITIONING IN THOSE SONGS/OR DEAD SPACES STEAL ENERGY FROM THE REST OF THE TUNE. CHICKENFOOT MATERIAL SOUNDS TO SLAPPED TOGETHER WITHOUT MUCH THOUGHT. EACH SONG SHOULD BE SOLID WITHOUT FILLER TRACKS. SAME FOR THE SOLO ALBUMS. DONT GIVE THE FANS ONE GREAT SONG AND CRAP FOR THE REST. FANS ARE SICK OF IT. IT WAS NOT THE FANS WHO KILLED THE MUSIC BUSINESS OF GOING TO THE STORE AND BUYING CDS IT WAS THE ARTIST AND COMPANY THAT PROMOTED BY WAY OF GREED AND GIVING THE FANS LESS QUALITY IN HAVING US SETTLE ON LESS QUALITY FOR THE ONE GREAT TRACK. SO WHY BUY THE WHOLE THING. i DONT APPRECIATE SAMMY SLAGGY EDDIE IN THE LEAST BECAUSE NONE OF THESE GUYS WOULD BE WHERE TODAY WITHOUT THE MUSIC THEY MADE WITH HIM.

i dig this clip. its cool to see some creative editing. great use of all that footage.

however: that song sucks. he must have written the lyrics on the toilet. then again, sammy is one of the poorest lyric writers out there. certainly no touching dave in that respect.

THIS guy knows how to treat his fans. I’ve never felt cheated or short changed by anything he does. He gives everything when playing live all the way down to the DVDs.

    Thanks Sammy.

Sammy is a great singer and a good guitar player. He made an excellent work in Van Halen, and the band continued to be sucessfull in the middle 80′s and early 90′s. I would like to see he workin again with Eddie, without fights; I think they still could do strogn music!! Brazilian fan.

    The Red Rocker fucking rules!!!!!

  • Scottso

It’s been a few years since James Brown passed away, So I think it’s time to award someone else the title of “Hardest Working Man in Show Business.” And the winner is… SAMMY HAGAR!

  • http://vhnd.com 51 yr old fan

you hear how entertainers say that the fans are important to them. nobody has proven it more than sammy has.

  • jim

Sammy knows exactly how to come across looking like he knows how to treat his fans.

  • bsc

I don’t know Sammy, he seems like an alright guy. But the One thing I do know is that whether or not he is an okay person or not his PR is great. He may be the biggest ass on the planet but he has us all convinced he is a saint. I do know several people who have met Eddie and they all say the same thing, that he is an extremely nice, genuine and generous person. It’s the PR that’s killed it for him. But shoot I guess if I was Ed and Sammy had us all convinced he was the saint I wouldn’t say anything either. What would be the point? After Sammy’s charade no matter what Eddie does so many are going to knock him for it. But, to me with out Eddie Van Halen Sammy and Mike are just boring.

  • MICAL VEE

I was a hagar fan before he was in VH,liked him with VH,and still think he rocks today! I’ll get this dvd.

  • mean street

WHY CAN’T VAN HALEN RELEASE A DVD!?

  • dude

I love Sammy’s work ethic and his attitude toward his fans. Unfortunately, that’s is a weak song in my humble opinion.

The shot @2:37 where Sammy is wearing the yellow shirt is from the 1994 bay area bammies.

I was there and saw Sammy after the show, he was so drunk it took 2 guys to get him in the car.

Mike was there too but was able to walk on his own.
    LOL!

I met Sammy b4 the 2001 awards show and told him about the last time i saw him there and he said “Well just wait till later tonight”!

    Sammy is the man!!

jimyou need to remember one thing. EDDIE BROUGHT SAM TO VAN HALEN. so hating on sammy is childish. may sam is bigger because of van halen but any singer ed brought in would be bigger. it’s like if your sister married a dipshit(like you) you can’t really blame the guy. deal with it. sammy and mike are going to be around for a while and it seems to me that almost EVERY fan that comes to this sight love sam and mike.

  • Mike

I have a serious question, what is the minimum of age you guys think someone would have to be to get into Sammy’s Birthday Bash? I still have a couple years til I turn 21 but don’t know how it works in Mexico. Can anyone help out?

  • Tiki Zombie

Say what you will about Sammy; either like him or not, the man does have a great work ethic. I don’t care for beach-Sammy, but I do love Montrose & his pre-VH solo albums. I saw the comment that they are weak. Maybe in one’s opinion, but not to me. he always had a great band, loved the tunes & he was always best when playing live. In ways I always wondered what tunes he’d have if he never joined VH, not that I wasn’t happy with Van Hagar. Old ’70s/early ’80s Sammy rocks, and seeing these tunes performed is a treat!
