Chickenfoot appearing on Adult Swim TV’s Aqua Teen Hunger Force March 28

Chickenfoot gets animated this Sunday night on Adult Swim TV:

Joe, Chad, Mike and Sammy step into the very strange world of Aqua Team Hunger Force this Sunday night on Adult Swim TV. Check out the episode of “I Am a Pod” in which Shake orders what he thinks is an Ipod, but turns out to be seeds to grow a Pod (a la Invasion of the Body Snatchers). The Pod is a huge Chickenfoot fan and ultimately gets to meet the band at one of their shows, turning them into aliens, and hence they take over the world on their tour.

Panama Red – Yes, he had an actual Red Rocker branded Mountain bike. I believe it is in the pic you are talking about. There’s also a pic where he is on the bike on top of a sign for Sausalito Cycles. I hear it was a Gary Fisher that was rebadged as “Red Rocker”.

  • jim

Yeah. The Chickenfoot album is groundbreaking, more so than any bands 1st album. Every song is a hit. 30 years from now, will still sound amazing. Will probably still cloud the airwaves as well.

I’m sure it took a lot of time and energy for Chickenfoot to transform themself onto a cartoon or VH to tranform themself into a video game??
It didn’t take them any time. They didn’t do anything.

  • Dooley

Just ignore the man behind the curtain.

  • Michael

MY DAD CAN BEAT UP YOUR DAD

    Geez…

  • Panama Red

    iwannaberr – That’s pretty cool.
Man, every year around this time I have a strong urge to go mountain biking. It doesn’t even have to be true “mountain biking” it can just be on bigger trails around the city. Although getting away from the hustle and bustle is much better and is more of the point for me, when I get on a bike. Problem is, I need a new mountain bike. I wish I could try out one of those Red Rocker bikes you were talking about.
Geez I gotta stop talking about it, the weather where I live today is perfect. Dammit.

  • whambamsam

Good for the FOOT! Sam and Mikey keep rockin’ while Ed slaps his name on shoes, t-shirts, and (now) pots to keep his mighty legacy alive!

I love ‘em all, but only 2 of ‘em are still making music…I used to say “I’ll Wait”, but now VH’s time time is “Runnin’ Out”…their “Future (is) In the Past”…

Keep it up, Mighty Foot! Oh Yeah!!

    Thank you! Good night!

    A few thoughts people:

I don’t understand the critical nature of some folks, but yet, I don’t really try…I clearly see the futility in it.

My feelings are this: I am an slightly introverted guitarist/musician/artist that is heavily influenced by Van Halen. Early on, I related to Edward on many different levels. When I was younger, I knew the talent that he had and greatly appreciated it, but I could see a vulnerability in his eyes that mirrored my own. I don’t care for manipulative, ostentatious, self-centered people, and I try to avoid them when I see ‘em coming. Ed didn’t care for that side of music business, he cared about the music. And that’s what I love about Van Halen…the music. All singers and all the different lyrical styles add to the appeal of the end result. I don’t think I’ll ever hear “Mine All Mine”, “Judgement Day”, “(Don’t Tell Me) What Love Can Do”, “Summer Nights” or even true renditions of “Atomic Punk”, “On Fire”, “Fools”, “Drop Dead Legs” or “Hear About it Later” again in my lifetime, and I’m fine with it. Dave shouldn’t attempt to sing any Hagar song…ever. No one should even want to hear that atrocity. If the boys released another album, it’s gonna sell a shit-ton of units, and it remains to be seen how it’s received. If they tour again, it’ll be the old stuff with alot of the new stuff, maybe every song off the release. We on here need to resign ourselves to the fact that we don’t have a fuckin’ clue what’s going to happen, and should enjoy what we do have, and cut out this childish bickering bullshit. Your opinion matters mostly to only one person, yourself. If it’s negative and unless you wish to intentionally incite backlash for your own ridiculous enjoyment, why not keep it to yourself? Yeah, post your stuff if you wanna contribute in a positive fashion, otherwise kindly fuck off.
I love these guys and their music, and enjoy relating to others that do as well. But I have very little tolerance for the over indulgent bullshit that most people post as a result of their frustration, dissatisfaction and mostly speculation. Just fuckin’ pack a bowl and crank it up….peace people.

  • Rastacole

    a.k.a. Tommy Boy.

  • freddiegirl

Aww, hugsies, Scott! Like many of the regulars, Eddie’s health is my main concern. New music would be fabby but it’s just icing on the cake really… :)

  • scott

True dat, brutha Rastacole! Couldn’t have said it better. Freddiegirl, ur bomb..;)

  • Atomic Pete

    Smoke another one Jim.

  • DiamondDean

    Rastacole ,

U are just so insightfull, i don’t know if i can thank you enough for being so unselfish with you knowledge

  • DiamondDean

    No Mas Tony ,

    Yr still great

Ill Wait on the strummin with the devil cd is brilliant luv it big time . I also enjoyed runnin with the devil n dance the night away , they all cld of been hits if music wasnt so f’d up these days

Dave does have the greatest voice in rock, true hes not the greatest singer anymore , but no one can talk in a somng like Roth.

Whoever produced the new Ratt cd , shd do the vocals on the new VH album , Pearcys voice sounds great on it , absolutely great

  • RickieVanWhalen

    Jim

You clearly are a mysterious dude in the ways you perceive things.

“The Chickenfoot album is groundbreaking, more so than any bands 1st album. Every song is a hit. 30 years from now, will still sound amazing. Will probably still cloud the airwaves as well.”

I also remember you were the guy that said that EVH let Fender take apart his original frankenstrat despite youtube video’s of EVH stating quite the contrary (it was done only with pictures)!

You need an intervention and fast dude.

  • scott

Well, actually it was done with pics…but then they were also allowed to borrow it from Ed occasionally, which they said Ed was very cool about, and they did take it apart, even took out the pickup to check the output but they couldn’t get any reading out of it supposedly. Just read that particular issue of guitarworld(again) the other day. Was teaching a kid how to play the VH version of pretty woman which was transcibed in that issue….hella fun! As for chickenfoot, good fun rockin stuff, but hardly groundbreaking.

  • andym

Is it just me or does anyone who watched the cartoon last night feel like they just wasted 20 minutes you will never get back??? That was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen.

  • Panama Red

I watched that episode of “Aqua Teen Hunger Force.” That really was Mike’s voice but I don’t think it was the real voice of the other guys in Chickenfoot. I definitely think that show is designed to be watched while high but like No Mas Tony said, If I was stoned outta my mind I still don’t think it would be very funny to me.
I thought there were maybe a couple of slightly humorous moments in this one episode though, like when the “Pod” was talking about Mike’s Jack Daniels bass. And the last part when the roadie was pointing and doing that scream like from the “Invasion of the Body Snatchers.” That part in that movie kinda freaked me out when I saw it as a kid. I saw that movie along with a bunch of other horror movies when I was a little kid. I don’t know how I got away with watching so many R rated horror movies back then but I think it led to my obsession with Fangoria magazine in my “tween” and early teen years later on. LOL.

Dirty Duck, Rickie VanWhalen, and Herb(from previous thread) – I understand how Jim’s comments have perplexed you. I really didn’t want to even acknowledge ‘em by responding. But I think that’s just his dry attempt to be sarcastic and downplay other bands. He posted similar sarcastic comments about Montrose on the last story about M.A.’s fav song list. I’m not sure why he would take the time to post something that is only sarcastic cynicism and not at least post something more positive along with those statements about Van Halen or about another band he does like.
I am not suggesting by any means that I think it’s odd how people disagree about music and bands here. Opposing opinions are expected, even some negative ones. I’ve posted some fairly negative shit myself, but I think they had a point, and they weren’t meant to be insulting to anyone here or to a band that someone has expressed a liking for here. They were more like drunken rants inspired by my longing for new VH material. LOL.

I mean anyone can post whatever they want, I don’t really care it’s not gonna hurt my feelings lol, but why not include something positive about a band you DO like. I think everyone here is “all ears” when a VH fan has something interesting to add. Whether it’s a personal story about VH or a thought about a particular song or about another band or whatever. But why come to a place and say something with the sole intention of being the buzzkiller?

Jim seriously, you are a Van Halen fan like everyone else is here. Why not chime in about something Van Halen related or something about a band you DO like from Michael Anthony’s list (from the previous thread) instead of submitting comments that consist entirely of sarcasm, cynicism or disguised negativity about Montrose, Chickenfoot or whatever. Maybe you’re just trying to stir up shit or you’re trying to make fans of Chickenfoot and Montrose sound stupid or discredit them in some way. Weird.

When I come to this website and read the comments, if I make statements disagreeing with someone it isn’t meant to insult anyone’s intelligence or anything like that. If I try to make a point about something or express my opinion it’s not meant as an ego trip or anything. I genuinely enjoy hearing others opinions and perceptions. It’s just that sometimes I don’t agree and sometimes I REALLY don’t agree. So I post my shit and move on, but I try to at least show a little respect for my fellow Van Halen followers. If I think the comments aren’t worth responding to I usually don’t respond to ‘em, but when I do, I try to not come across as an asshole since it’s usually our common interests that got us talking to begin with.

It’s kind of a nice break in the day to come here and see what’s goin’ on. I’m sure it’s the same way with everyone else. To take a break from the stress of working or whatever and visit a website about a band you’re passionate about and have positive feelings for. That’s why I get a little perplexed at the negative nature of some of the comments. Because this is one of the things I do during the day to escape the negativity of a day. Y’know what I’m sayin’? So I try to ditch my negativity and feel good about visiting this site. And I also don’t hold a grudge with anyone here if we’ve disagreed or squabbled in the past. I may praise someone’s comments here who has talked crap about mine in the past. Or agree with someone’s comments now, after I’ve expressed my disagreement with that person in the past. It doesn’t matter, I don’t care. Truth is, I probably don’t remember who has said what after a few days pass anyway. HA ha.
And anyway, since we’re all Van Halen fans, we’re bound to agree on something sooner or later.

The reason we all come here is because we all have the same thing in common, love and admiration for one of the greatest rock bands in history. As much comradery as there is here, you’d think there would be even more and there would be almost zero animosity for one another. I guess a lot of the bickering and shit is due to the never-ending Sammy vs. Dave bullshit. I guess that’ll never end. Oh Well.

But anyway, a lot of the comments are interesting and it’s cool to converse briefly back and forth sometimes with someone here. But I do have to admit that I usually try to disregard and ignore the purely negative or hateful ones that are just a waste of time. There’s usually no point in those and no point in responding to those either, you know what I mean?

The way I try to show respect, is by not saying anything to anyone that I wouldn’t say if I was actually in the same room with them. That’s just one of the little “codes” I try to remember and abide by (whatever- that’s just me and one of my things)
But honestly, If I was at a get-together or party somewhere and someone made a ridiculously invalid statement about something and I could tell that their mind was closed on the subject I would just move on to talking to someone else. I wouldn’t even bother with that person’s statements. Why get into an argument or debate with someone when it’s not gonna go anywhere. It would just be a waste of time.
Sometimes disagreements are about two egos battling it out instead of the actually topic, that’s when I lose interest.

You know what is cool though? That there is a band that elicits a following of this magnitude.
I mean think about it, Van Halen still after all these years inspires fans to create websites in their honor and has a following of fans visiting these websites on a regular basis sharing insights, opinions, experiences, and debating about shit.
That’s pretty cool. Van Halen has definitely made a permanent mark in this world no matter what the future holds.

  • BMF

just watched it. its pretty stupid.

  • jim

    RickieVanWhalen,

I hope you could realize that I was just joking about the Chickenfoot thing. Take out Chickenfoot and insert VH and that’s where that came from.

The way people talk about chickenfoot on this site, you’d think they are talking about a factory made car that runs on dirt. I mean.. I’m not dissing the foot but although chickenfoot music isn’t bad for the options out there, it doesn’t exactly scream for me to listen to it over and over again. Yeah, it’s nice that they make music but if they never made new music, would it really be that big of a deal?

And they did take apart the frankenstrat. That’s what made the replica so cool, and expensive.

  • Jeremy

See this episode was all in good fun!

Chickenfoot as everybody said on here a time ago thought their name was cheesy or stupid as well!

It’s funny that 30 plus years ago people sat back and said what the hell is a Van Halen?

As usual, no matter what news that is put on here be it Van Halen or Chickenfoot is always met at the beginning of each thread with a negative response or a slight positive one!

I’m guilty of pouring on Van Halen for being dormant or unproductive, which is wrong at times and I defend Sammy for being productive because it’s hard not to like Sammy for giving us what we want.

It doesn’t matter anymore what Van Halen does because they’ve done it all as well as Sammy and Chickenfoot. I just wish Eddie would come out and give us some information on whats going on.

All I say is kudos to Sammy and Chickenfoot for having fun and making music!

    Panama Red:

    Great post…

But the one thing that stood out was that you dug “fangoria” mag back in the day! Cool man. I’ve been to two fangoria conventions in N.Y city. Two incredible experiences, and I got to meet one of my favourite actors: Tom Atkins (Lethal weapon, Escape From N.Y, The Fog, Halloween 3, Night of the creeps, Ect.)I was a geek back in the day. All I cared about was nintendo, ufo’s, ghosts, and horror movies. Girls came later when they started noticing me! LOL. It was great back then before you had to worry about real life and “relationships”. Man it was great knowing that all you had to do was just come home after school and do……nothing.

Yeah, as far as jim is concerned…..as dooley would say: I took the bait. Even I get a little too touchy around here at times. There is so much personality and opinion it’s like highschool with ashtrays ;)

As far as chickenfoot “guest starring” on adult swim? Well you already know how I feel about chickenfoot…but I am suprised that many around here thought that it would be amusing. It’s like watching scooby doo and waiting for don knots or the harlem globe trotters to appear as speacial guests. You know you’re gonna watch it…..but is it really going to be THAT amusing? (Add canned laughter)
I knew this wasnt going to be. I would have never even watched it if it was the orginal VH line up. Cartoons are exactly what they are….cartoons. It’s hard to swallow a rock group going that low. I mean shit, VH’s drop dead legs was played on a simpsons episode, but at least it showed a girl walking down the street with nice…um..legs. Kinda kept the spirit of the band through what the band was known for….sex.

  • RickieVanWhalen

OK Jim – I didn’t see the humor. You are wrong about the frankenstrat project. GO LOOK AT THE YOUTUBE FVIDEO and stop kidding yourself.

  • jim

    Frankenstrat -
I saw a video about it (not sure if it was the same video) and read a big write up that I believe was featured in one of the guitar worlds. From what I remember, it was done by both pictures and actually borowing the original and taking it apart when needed.
But hey – some people are saying yes and some no. Maybe I had wrong info. It kind of doesn’t matter enough to offend someone over.

  • Adrian

“You people are sick.” – What Edward Van Halen should be thinking right now. If I were Ed I wouldn’t dare release anything for fear that you would all take craps on it no matter what. Where is your sense of hope? Isn’t rock and roll about good times and acceptance? Or are you all just the crusty 45 year old non-teens that were farting out budweiser in my face in Philip’s Arena while Van Halen did exactly what you’ve always wanted them to?

  • http://none Dirty Duck

    Adrian:

You buy the land….you get the indians ;)

  • RickieVanWhalen

Jim – I am not offended. I am just big time guitar geek praying for some serious news on this desk. The praying ain’t working though! DLR is still silent. I guess that is still great news.

  • jim

    Check out melodicrock.com

Note today about the none vh news. Rumors are that Dave is working on a solo album. I had already heard this. I tried to paste the article onto this but didn’t work.

Maybe Ed, Al, Wolfy are waiting on Dave and Dave is holding up everything. Maybe not. With all that in mind, there really isn’t any info for them to release at the time.

  • Panama Red

Dirty Duck – That’s kind of strange how you described your childhood, because I shit you not, it sounded like you were describing mine. Of course I was obsessed with nintendo like probably every other kid back then and I miss those more carefree days too, of doing nothing to stressful, trying to do as many fun things as we could squeeze into a day and just hanging out as lazily as possible. Lol.
But the more coincidentally similar part about your post was when you said you were into U.F.O.’s , Ghosts, etc. Exactly the same here. I first got into all that stuff when I was a little kid, checking out books at my elementary school library that had anything to do with the paranormal and supernatural.
Luckily some family members were fascinated by these subjects as well, so I had a plethora of information to absorb. My interests in the paranormal grew and continued into my adulthood. It’s become quite a passion of mine. I have a big collection of books about those subjects and I’ve probably watched just about every show, documentary and movie made about those subjects as well.
There are reasons I believe in the paranormal and there not all from the books I’ve read. But that kind of stuff is to involved to get into here.

About the horror movies….man I saw as many as I could when I was a little kid. Some that I probably shouldn’t have seen till I got a little older. But to this day I’ve always had an appreciation for really well made and original horror movies. They just don’t make ‘em like they used to.

I bet those Fangoria conventions were cool. I’ve heard about ComicCon but I bet The Fangoria Cons are for the darker and even creepier crowds Ha ha. Cool.
After becoming a big fan of Fangoria mag back in the day I thought about how cool it would be to work as a special effects artist making all different kinds of Monsters, Aliens, and different creatures for a living. Unfortunately I’m not that gifted of a sculptor so I had to scrap that dream, otherwise I would have pursued it. But how awesome of a job would that be? It’s like you could harness your inner child whose imagination conjures up monsters and you could create ‘em for a living. Pretty f-ing cool.

  • http://none Dirty Duck

    P-Red:

I really enjoyed reading your post man! Who knows…..maybe we crossed each other’s path a few times back in the day!
Yeah….”Close encounters of the third kind” / ” Fire In The Sky” (The walton expierience)/ ” The U.F.O Incident” (Amazing made for tv movie-1975 about barney and betty hill-I advise you to buy this at the ufostore.com! 10 bucks)/ “Intruders”/ ” Unsolved Mysteries” / “…in search of (with leonard nemoy…remember that shit?)…..man I could go on and on! I love old school horror films…my favourite is John Carpenters immortal classic: Halloween.
Do not get me into the rob zombie remake….it’ll be like talkin hagar ;) All kidding aside though, it’s cool to know that we dig the same stuff. Have you seen “Cloverfield” yet?
See it! I know it’s old news but maaaaan….all I have to say is the japs must hate us for FINALLY making a better U.S. version of godzilla! ;)
First special effects artist I got into was Tom Savini. That cat is truly talented man. Last I heard, he has his own workshop for students in I think eiether L.A or N.Y.
Last time I saw him in a film was “From Dusk Till’ Dawn”. Another great film. Panama….I could go on for hours man!
But I have to get back to work! Stay cool and I’ll try and write more when i have more time! Thanks for the response brother!

  • Panama Red

Dirty Duck – I know exactly what you mean about how you could go on and on. This type of discussion would be better while chugging down some beers and over the course of several hours. I love talking about this kind of stuff, this just really isn’t the right place to do it, I guess.
But I’ll hit a on a few things, I’ll try to stick with mainly the few things you mentioned to keep myself from going off on a long-winded tangent about other topics.

I saw “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” when I was really young, kinda freaked me out a little but I was very interested. I thought the little greys at the end looked real–pretty freaky. I haven’t seen that movie in a loooong time though.
The Travis Walton case is one of the accounts that I wholeheartedly believe to be true. There’s too much evidence for it to be discounted IMO. Although I thought that the movie adaptation could have been better. It wasn’t a bad movie but they changed some stuff. I think there were some aspects of it that were lost in translation or something and some things about his experience were completely left out of the movie.
I also strongly believe the Barney and Betty Hill case that you mentioned to be a true abduction experience as well. I’m almost positive I’ve seen that movie about their experience that you mentioned, but it’s been awhile. I’ve read about them and their experiences as well.
The Walton and Hill’s case are a couple of the most famous abduction cases but as you know, there is a helluva lot more evidence and experiences out there. But the Walton and Hill’s stories are two great ones for sure.
Another freaky alien movie is “Communion” I had to go to another city to see it when it came out, it wasn’t being shown in movie theaters in my area. It freaked me out some. Whitley Strieber’s experiences are very strange to say the least. I think it’s hard sometimes for filmmakers to translate longtime experiences into a two hour movie. That would be difficult.

Like I said, it would be cool to talk about this in more detail another time. I know we could talk about a lot of other info and evidence and stuff, but I know you were trying to keep it short in your post too.

About those shows you mentioned. I do remember “In Search of” with Leonard Nemoy. There have been some good shows about the paranormal/supernatural over the years. I think there were some that were better than “In Search of.”
I think I’ve seen every episode of “Unsolved Mysteries” at least once or twice. Haha
I would like to go on and on like you said, but I’ll have to make myself stop there for now since this is a VH site and not a paranormal website, so I’m trying to keep it as brief as possible.

I haven’t seen Cloverfield. I heard mixed reviews and I thought the shaky camera stuff might get on my nerves, but maybe I should check it out anyway.
I want to see “District 9″, I heard that was really good.
As far as the “classics” I would have to say a couple of the first one that come to mind–The original 1968 low budget “Night of the Living Dead.” The grainy black and white film with unknown actors along with the overall genuinely creepy vibe to the film. Man, Magnifique!
That’s a good example of what I meant on my last post when I said They don’t make ‘em like they used to. It didn’t feel contrived, over acted or over-done and it didn’t rely on gore. It was a horror movie in the psychological way- The best kind. Gore doesn’t scare me at all, to me Less is More with gore, your own imagination is a more effective tool for the film makers to use against you. There is no need to heavily rely on Blood and Guts in a horror movie if you are a really good horror movie maker, you know what I mean? Creepiness is way scarier than blood, you know what I’m sayin’?
The other classic horror movie that pops in my head right away is another independent small budget movie- the 1974 original “Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” That movie really doesn’t have much gore in it either, but most people’s memories include lots of blood and guts when they recall that movie because it was another successfully effective psychological horror movie. The imagination is greater than movie props and effects. The characters in that movie are just so F-ing creepy.
The Texas Chainsaw movie that came out a few years ago with Jessica Biel was awful, I didn’t even bother watching much of it.
In my opinion the 60′s and 70′s were the best eras for horror movies. There was a genuine creepy feel in horror movies back then that I haven’t seen duplicated today.

“Who will survive and what will be left of them?”

I could also go on more about horror movies. I let myself get a little more carried away here about the horror movies more than I did about the other stuff. I think it’s because if I let myself get started on the paranormal subject, even just a little, there won’t be any stopping whereas if I talk about movies, It’s more just casual fun.

But Duck, don’t worry about me arguing with you about the re-make of Halloween. I don’t get why they keep remaking the classics. There is absolutely no need for that. They are referred to as “classics” for a reason. I just don’t get that shit, the remakes of some of the greatest horror movies. They’re never as good as the originals. Why try to fix something that isn’t broken, ya know?

When I first heard about Rob Zombie making the horror movie “Night of 1000 Corpses” several years ago I was stoked because I was a fan of White Zombie for so long. I thought since he had made so much bad ass music that his movies would be just as awesome and I would most definitely dig ‘em. WRONG. When I saw it I was disappointed to say the least. I pretty much thought that it was crap. I guess there were a few memorable parts but it seemed like it was more of a re-hash of old horror movies than anything. You could tell he was influenced by the classic horror movies (but Too much). So much so that it lacked originality IMO. I was not impressed. When I heard back then that he was having trouble getting a studio to purchase it and release it, that sounded crazy to me, but after I saw it I understood why.
    Dr. Satan?! C’mon!

A friend of mine recently left her copy of Rob Zombie’s remake of Halloween over at my house even though I asked her not to. Lol.
I got bored one night and put it in, I turned it off after about 20 minutes.
You know what else is stupid? They’re re-making “Nightmare on Elm St.” WTF!!??
    The stupidity continues.
Anyway it was cool shootin’ the sh** with ya, Duck.
I guess this post wasn’t very brief, oh well… it’s me ya know, I’m usually not. I think it was pretty short compared to some of my other posts though. Lol.
    Later
