Kayser Sozay – Hahaha-I know what you mean about Satch, sometimes his playing can give me goosebumps. He’s amazing.
That was funny though, his alien brothers waiting for him. Lol.

These guys were pretty strange, Panama Red. Seriously, the whole place is going nuts except these two who are looking straight ahead, stone-faced the entire time. Odd.

Dirty Face – I hear you. I remember Roth saying that and that’s why I got so excited. But I’ve been wondering if perhaps after being on tour for so long, all the old relationship patterns returned and Ed and Dave were reminded of why they couldn’t stand each other the first time around and first false start in 96. It’s all very strange that they are so silent about everything. Fingers are still crossed though.

    Dooles:

    Agreed….

As much as I respect anyone who wants to expand a little and give a new spin on something new, the strummin with the devil thing was typical dave, but not the dave I wanted to hear. God bless……someone out there digs it, but I want some raw kickass “inyourface” rock and roll from the toast master himself! I’m not holding my breath for anything to sound like 22 years ago….it’s just not gonna happen. Here’s an example why: I picked up Billy Idols last album: Devils Playground back in 07′. The one track that stands out the most is a track called: Romeo’s Bleeding. Sounds JUST LIKE old Idol and is a pretty kick ass song! After I heard that I listened to the rest and I couldnt get into it. Sure, “Dashboard Jesus” is cool….but the rest is just a SHADOW of who he was. There were some tracks I actually said out loud: It doesnt even sound like billy’s voice. So odd.
It’s truly a double edged sword when it comes to rock and roll man. We want the old days back…but we’ll settle for anything….then we hate it. And yes dooles….VH3 would be a horrible way to end a legacy.
Shit….if they released a double DVD of all the old shows plus the reunion tour I’d be happy! You wouldnt hear me shoutin’ for new music thats for sure!

Duck, the glimmer of hope is that the last time Dave and Ed got together they produced some cracking tunes (in my opinion, anyway) so that’s something to cling to. If we can get an album full of Me Wise… and Can’t Get This Stuff… I’ll be a very happy man.

  • Dooley

    Hello, Duck !

I agree with much of what you say. Except the Billy Idol comparison. True, Idol’s recent activity didn’t generate much excitement. However, the present incarnation of VH could easily do much better than Devil’s Playground. A better comparison is with this site’s other featured band Chickenfoot. They broke new ground with that release. It wasn’t a mere shadow of what the members did earlier in their careers. It was much better than that. And when CF is on tour, everybody in the rock universe knows it. If CF can do that much with new stuff, think of what VH can do. But will they?

Kayser….I missed the clones @ El Corazon. I couldn’t even freakin turn around it was soo over crowded. Aside from that, it was really cool to watch come to life!

    Karl:

It’s always cool to know that someone out there has the balls to say they liked: Me Wise Magic & Cant Get This Stuff!
I myself also feel that those two songs were pretty damn good after not playing together for many years. I remember the first time I heard “magic”…I was truly blown away by eddie’s playing. Sure I love roth, but as soon as he started goin for those high notes I did cringe a little. But overall?
A great fuckin’ song man. The chorus: Do you belieeeeeve… still gives me goosebumps, and the last min of eddie’s playing is mindblowing. The same with Cant Get This Stuff, great playing and roth sounds cool.
Ya know what does bother me though man? I have no doubts that eddie has tons of music….and I’m sure that there ARE songs with dave singing. Just release SOMETHING! It truly is an odd situation. There’s a part of me that will always have faith, but the other part of me is like fuck it, lets pack it in and go get a cheeseburger! I mean it’s like hoping your X will change her mind and come back to you. After awhile it’s like….um, no she’s not. Am I making sense here karl!? LOL! Whatev…..eiether way that’s my view!

    Dooles:

Maybe Idol was a bad comparison, but I was just trying to make the point of we all expect waaaay too much from our idols (no pun intended) and in the longrun we’re left unhappy frustrated and hangin’ around here! All we can do is cross our fingers and hope for the best. Eiether way I’m grateful for the kick ass tunes we do have and the memories that come along with em!

  • Dooley

    Duck:

I know what you’re sayin’. It’s always a risk to generalize, and I know I could get slammed for lumping y’all together like this, but:

Dave-or-the-grave types on this site (like you) are “frustrated and hangin’ around here”. And very grateful for CVH’s past glory, which is understandable. I’m grateful for that, too.

Redheads (like me) don’t believe we expect waaay to much from our idols. We’re happy they (in this case Chickenfoot)are staying busy and productive. And we sincerely want the present incarnation of VH to join the party. And if we grumble every now and then about the state of affairs in the VH camp, well, there’s something to grumble about at times. A good friend will always speak up with things ain’t right.

And yeah. Me Wise Magic and Can’t Get This Stuff w/Dave are stellar!! Humans Being w/Sam too. Like Me Wise Magic, had a great chorus too (Shine On…). MA made that part happen on both songs. And all 3 of those songs were released by VH at the same time.

VH can’t be done. We can’t allow it to end like this. Do you realize the last studio efforts were VH 3 (yuck) and the shitty songs they did with Sam on the more recent greatest hits. It can’t end that way.

    Dooles:

I dont know man. I’m 35 years old, I still look and feel young, and I still listen to classic VH everyday like it was the first time. I’ve never really visited websites in the past to get updates on a band….tuned in to watch a cartoon the band was guest starring in….or had discussions with my fellow rockers about the brand of tequila the frontman was selling. I’m old school when it comes to rock man. I grew up in a time when the band you loved was a mystery. You caught one of their shows….and talked about it for months on end.
Now? Music (including our favourite groups) has had the “sign of the times” feel over it for awhile now. To me its always been about the music…the look….and the feel.
Classic VH HAD that, and it’s been missing from music for quite sometime now. Sure I love: AC DC , Zepplin’, Stones, Metallica, Megadeth, Aerosmith (70′s only)etc etc….but no group (to me) as EVER come close to what VH WAS back in their glory days. This is why I cant stand it when I’m told I NEED to listen to chickenfoot,,,I dont know what I’m missing etc. Enough already. I’ll listen to what I like if it moves me….and chickenfoot and most of what sammy does doesnt! I dont jump on bandwagons, and I dont ACT like I like something just so people around this site can commend me and pat me on the back. I come to this site because i love classic VH. I dont think many here do….sorry.

But enough! It’s friday…I got plans in 4 hours and a busy weekend ahead! Dont know where you live man but out here on L.I. it’s warmin’ up! I’m a summer boy so I’m ready!
Hey man…we may not always agree with each others views, but I do appreciate the time you take to share em’!

    Later!

  • Pat

The members of Chickenfoot have made so much great music together in their respective bands or solo ventures, it disappointments me that they did not vary their set lists at all. Doesn’t Sammy always talk about not playing the same songs every night and playing different stuff. So much to choose from and they stick with the same set list every night. At least they’re putting out product.

  • RobCT

Awesome…this with the Extreme DVD will be awesome! Two great bands putting out some video for the fans! Once again, both bands did a tour, put out new stuff and released some video…any buzz from the VH camp?

  • Idream1

I won this DVD lol can’t wait to see it!
