Righteous, Red, and Rockin’ Introducing the Sammy Hagar Red Rocker Les Paul

From Gibson.com:

Sammy Hagar Red Rocker Les Paul

Through a career that spans stints with Ronnie Montrose, Van Halen, and his own prominent solo work, Sammy Hagar has been the force behind a total of 60 million record sales and countless righteous riffs, and when the Red Rocker rocks, he chooses to rock Gibson. Now, in celebration of Hagar’s mammoth new band Chickenfoot, and its self-titled debut album, Gibson USA introduces the Sammy Hagar Red Rocker Les Paul, a guitar with legendary appointments and a hot new look designed by the artist himself, all primed to stoke a new era in rock. A super-group comprised of Joe Satriani on lead guitar, Michael Anthony of Van Halen on bass, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums, and Hagar on guitar and vocals, Red Rocker is taking the rock world by storm, and the Sammy Hagar Red Rocker Les Paul is the perfect centerpiece for the conquest.

    Panama Red:

That’s cool. The music I’ve listened to has always been like a best friend I never had but always wished I did. It never reminds me of any chicks. I’m weird like that. The music IS the chick I guess.

My favorite band is Type O Negative. Ever heard of them?? Their first couple of albums are SO fucking powerful-unlike anything I ever experienced. Up until a few years ago, I only listened to them, NIN, AiC, and that type of thing. VH is party music imo, and I’m not into partying-I do my own thing, including drink on my own.

Besides, I’m not into shredders, no matter how good they are. I actually like DLR VH because I think they kick ass as a band, i.e. their songs and stage showed rocked. If I’m going to listen to music specifically for guitar, I’ll listen to Joe Pass. He was a jazz virtuoso who died about 15 years ago. Go on YouTube and check out some of his solo playing. I never heard EVH, Satch, Rhoads, or any rock guys play like that…unlike anything I’ve ever heard. And he would do it in one take without any fanfare or ego. His playing really did speak for itself.

ps-I don’t mind if you ‘wax poetically’ here. There’s not much in the way of real news, so we might as well make the most of it.

    Arthur_bishop1972 –
I salute anyone who can tolerate my ramblings. After I post them and then read them I can barely withstand them myself sometimes. Lol.

I remember Type O Negative, just not a whole lot. I think I remember an album cover of a chicks face or something. Was there a chick in the band? I’m thinking that might be a band where the guitar player got on my nerves for some reason. Like he was too cocky and into himself too much and I was put off by it. I guess I’m weird like that. (Not sure if it’s the same band I’m thinking of) That’s kind of dumb of me anyway I guess. It’s not like Phil Anselmo and Rob Zombie are “Nice” guys either. Ha ha. But I guess Type O Negative just didn’t hook me in for whatever reason.
I obviously don’t remember much about them. I think I remember the radio would play one of their songs a lot back in the mid to late 90′s that was pretty heavy and sounded like good song to F**k to.
I think that was around the time that Van Halen broke up w/Sammy. So I think I subconsciously transferred all of my obsessiveness from VH over to Pantera. I got REALLY into Pantera. And White Zombie too, but not as much as Pantera. But I know what you mean about only listening to a handful of bands. I did the same thing back then. Pink Floyd, Pantera, White Zombie, AIC, and maybe a few others.

And I understand you doing your own thing. I rarely go out and get crazy anymore. Sometimes being a bit boring and predictable is a nice change. If I stay home and make a few margaritas for my wife and I and spend some time with her then it’s a good night. I’m going out tonight to meet up with a couple of friends that I haven’t seen in forever but I’m sure things won’t get too outta hand. I’m domesticated now. Lol

I don’t think I remember hearing about Joe Pass. I don’t really dig on Jazz though. Jazz is one of the very few styles of music that I just can’t find any of that I like. I just can’t get into it for some reason. It actually kind of annoys me to be honest. But I’ll keep an open mind and see what he’s about on youtube later. And if you want to list a few of your fav Type O Negative songs I’ll give ‘em another listen and look them up on itunes or youtube or something.
    Later on man.
