Why not? Word is he is more comfortable and shoud hold his own, be more comfortable, and have a stage presence. He can play all the instruments. He's got a unique bass playing method. He's close to EVH. I'm sure he has learned about everything there is to learn from one of the best musicians ever. It's in the genes - He's now at least third generation musician.
