Chickenfoot update: More new album talk / soundboard recordings / new tablature book

Some good news for ‘Foot fans today!

SECOND ALBUM MENTION: First, at the 2010 NAMM show last weekend, Michael Anthony confirmed that Chickenfoot will indeed record another album:

SOUNDBOARD GEMS: Here are two very special SOUNDBOARD recordings that most ‘Foot fans have never heard – Chickenfoot covering “Going Down” and “Dear Mr. Fantasy.” Soundboard recordings are very rarely leaked and these are the only recordings that we know of that are floating around (other than the live songs that are on the Deluxe Limited Edition CD/DVD).

Another reason why these recordings are special is that these were from a February 2008 Sammy Hagar concert at The Palms in Las Vegas, where Chad Smith & Joe Satriani joined Sammy & Mike on stage. These unrehearsed covers were the VERY FIRST TIME that Sammy, Mike, Joe & Chad ever jammed together onstage!

NEW GUITAR TABLATURE BOOK: There is finally an official guitar tablature book for Chickenfoot’s first album!

    Pete – You’re one of the guys on this site who I actually like to hear what you have to say. You can disagree with someone without being a dick about it. Thanks for keepin it real.

  • Jim

    I’m probably in the minority here but I loved the 3 new tunes with Sammy/VH on the best of both worlds album. Specifically “it’s about time” and “up for breakfast”.
    They were a little raw but they rocked big time. I thought they were better than anything on Balance. Sounded great in concert as well.

    Hey Panama Red,
    Van halen isn’t ready for Van Halen right now, but all you DLR lovers out there need to get your heads out of 1980 and jump ahead
    30 years and think of what your saying DLR is done he can’t sing and he is old and looks it, Sammy is still the Rock’n Surfer dude, and yeah he is 62 but man he sings, and acts like he is 42 and he can bring life to anything he touches;
    Chickenfoot or Van Halen

    PANAMA RED…hey, I thought I WAS being a dick…just kidding, thanks for the nod man. You have a cool nickname from a cool tune and along with the DUCK and a few others it’s always cool to hear your take on things too. Funny enough, the people I find the most interesting usually completely disagree with me. DUCK hates Van Hagar, but he’s objective, not a sheep, so he usually has an interesting take on things. I think that’s cool.

    JIM – I’m with you man! I loved those 3 tunes on BOBW too! They sounded great live, except when Eddie was a little too sauced to play. Other than that it was great to hear those new tunes. They were supposed to be 3 tunes from a new CD but they ran out of time, but had they finished, it would have been one kick-ass CD.

    Cheers brothers…

    Pete I agree “up For Breakfast” and It’s About Time” were killer and the direction they were going was going to make them big and competetive with the crap rock out today. Tobad they didn’t do that album and have Andy Johs produce it. Yeah the same DLR lovers out there can’t wait for new Van Halen with Roth , but I don’t think I can deal with “Strumming with Van Halen” Ugh !

    I’m willing to bet that we will see a new chickenfoot CD before a new Vanhalen CD. Is Dave going to talk rock his way on the New CD.
