More than 200,000 people from around the world will come together next week for the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. Important cars up for auction are the 1930 Ford Model A Coupe used by infamous gangster John Dillinger and a Boyd’s Hauler 1993 Chevrolet custom pickup truck built for rocker Eddie Van Halen.

Details: Built for Eddie Van Halen, this 1993 Chevrolet pickup is known as the “Boyd’s Hauler”. The truck was originally designed by Chip Foose in 1993 and built at “Hot Rods By Boyds”. Included with the sale, for the first time ever will be an Eddie Van Halen autographed EVH brand prototype electric guitar. The prototype was used in the development process for the redesigned Wolfgang Special. This is a new model in the EVH brand line of instruments, set for worldwide release in 2010. Rounding out the auction package will be a pair of office EVH brand striped sneakers and the original hand drawn rendering of the truck you see pictured here. Boyd Coddington achieved worldwide fame for his understated elegant approach to design, while maintaining respect and dignity. Boyd’s creations never wasted energy. The EVH Boyd’s Hauler is no exception. Built exclusively for Eddie Van Halen, the Hauler began its life as a brand new everyday 1993 Chevy 1500 1/2 ton, shortbed pickup. The original motor was replaced by a Corvette LT1 5.7L 350cid V8 and complimented by a 700R4 automatic transmission. The truck was lowered and modified to accept a Corvette independent rear suspension. Up front, the Hauler features a billet grille and a sleek front bumper/air dam. The back end sports a rolled pan and recessed license plate. It wouldn’t be a Boyd creation without the right shoes, hence the one-off 16″ and 17″ asymmetrical billet wheels and “big and bigger” set of BFGoodrich tires. The truck was upgraded to a set of 20″ and 18″ one-off wheels designed and built by Chris Coddington. The truck has been fitted with a custom stainless steel exhaust system by Magnaflow and is rounded out by a custom audio system courtesy of Memphis Audio and installed by Extreme Audio and Customs of Riverside, California.

    Dirty duck,

google: Alex Van Halen talks new album, scoll down until you see: Ponderings from pluto.word press. com. That’s the interview!

  • Phil

The tabloid rag is called “OK”, I think. Though what is okay about it I wouldn’t know. I don’t remember the exact date of it but it was published within the last 6 weeks..novemberish (?). Other than the DLR mention out of nowhere, it was very forgetable. One can only leaf through so much crap about those twilight fairies before one starts to just block it out completely.

  • http://www.vhnd.com Kurt Kuthe

    wicked!!!!!

  • keith

Some of you have a good point. There is always hope. I just hope that IF, they put out a new album, that 1, they surpise us all by bring back Mike, or a kick ass bassist, like Billy Sheenan, Rudy Sarzo, etc.,2, absolutely NO expense is spared in the recording, producing, marketing, etc., and 3, realize we all want them to succeed, so make the tour tix affordable, the merch outstanding, and make it a true World tour. Please Ed and Alex ? Please ???

  • arthur_bishop1972

    Panama Red:

Eddie appears to have become a controlling, bitter old man.

All that musical talent doesn’t mean he’s going to grow up and start experiencing adult emotions, e.g. forgiveness, honest self-reflection, acceptance of one’s own (past/youthful) transgressions, admittance of the effects of his alcoholism, and on and on.

Is a new album and tour more important than the above?? Not to me it isn’t.

  • http://vhnd Jimmy

You know what I think. I think VAN HALEN (BAND) DOESN’T GIVE A FUCK WHAT ANY OF YOU SAY OR TYPE! Including me!

Edward is jamming with his son now. These are important years in that kids life. Who knows what’s up with Roth and the silence. Maybe we will get lucky and get a taste of what they are doing if they are jamming frequently.

Maybe not! Maybe something is wrong with their health and it’s hush hush. Hush probably cause almost everyone here blows SHIT OUT OF PROPORTION…

    Laters.

  • http://vhnd Jimmy

You know what. Van Halen(band) took a lot of shots from the critics and their fans because they publicized there inner band disagreements and egos. People blew shit out of proportion. This is another reason why their doors are closed. Everyone points their fingers and state their opinions but everyone fucking has disagreements with people. Sometimes they make sense forever and sometimes when you re-think things. You realize how wrong things went out and wish the drama never took place altogether. I LOVE VAN HALEN. They don’t owe me shit! Laters

  • Rick Pride

    Andym that’s awesome!!!

  • http://vhnd Jimmy

One more thing. Who gives a shit about this truck. Someone who likes VH and has the cash to blow will buy it.

Geez, I come here to read news and just check stuff out and I get pissed because of all the VH haters. Freak fans.

  • andym

Thanks Hawk and Rick! It’s the truth!!!

Keith – dude come back to reality. Mikey is out of VH FOREVER!!! Eddie will keep his kid around long enough to pass the band name onto him when Eddie is done making music. Wait a minute………Eddie IS done making music isn’t he??? Hmmm….

And also, Keith, no way the prices for tickets, merch, or anything else will ever come down. They have you by the balls because they know you will pay it.

  • Karl

Simon: Spot on. I’ve been thinking the same thing. Edward had a whole career of people telling him he was the second coming (which, in my opinion he was!) and then, suddenly, everyone’s saying his latest album is a steaming turd and about 5 people bought it. After all the adulation he probably had no idea how to handle the bad stuff and has retreated into his shell, maybe even believing that he’s shot and can’t do it any more.

  • http://none Dirty Duck

    Trouser Snake:

    Hey man….

I wish I could say that I had this VISION or that I got a PSYCHIC MESSAGE that the album will be called “Encore”…lol…but the truth is I too heard about alex’s “slip”. I was just saying that I felt that most likely that will be the name of the album. As far as it being released on aprils fool day, I thought that would be a cool VH move. If you recall dave did leave the band on april fools day 1985…..

  • Marko

    Jimmy,
    Very well said. Agree.

  • andym

    Thanks Rick and Hawk!

Keith – dude, come back to reality!
    1. Mikey is NEVER coming back to VH. Face it. Get used to it. Eddie’s kid is in there for good and will hand over the VH band name to Wolfie when Eddie decides one day that he’s all done making music for the fans. Hey, wait a minute…………
    2. IF they ever make another album they’ll do it on the cheap especially since they still don’t have a record label. Thanks Warner Bros.
    3. You really think they will make the tickets and merch affordable?? As long as people want to see them they’ll book big arenas and everyone will be suckered to pay over $100 to see them and $35 for a shirt that will fade or shrink after you wash it twice. And a “true” world tour? Only if they feel like going to various places around the globe.

  • andym

Jimmy needs to take a few downers.

  • keith

andym … why the fock do I care what YOU or anybody else thinks ???

  • SCAR

Hey Jimmy, I guess you don’t get it, do you? Your’e a hater too!!!! andym keep up the good work!! You crack me the fuck up!!!

  • KTC5150

keith is giving those of us ALSO named Keith a bad feeling…
Hope he gets his head outta his butt & stops messing up a good thread & site!

  • david

is it true that eddie tried out a prototype amp at a recent Kenny Chessey concert?

  • phillster

thanks PHIL,for saving me the trouble of sifting through that crap-tab-mag!lol

  • http://vhnd Jimmy

Hey SCAR get this. I only hate dickheads who talk shit about one of my favorite bands. People who think they know exactly what has gone on in this band. More people come here to bag on Van Halen, no matter what the news is. People have left this site thinking they have the low-down, but what they have is some asshole’s sugar coated rant! It’s sad. People enjoy coming here and talking shit.I betcha the band would agree with me.
I hope I get to see more or here more from Van Halen. If not, I’m not going to lose sleep and blow shit out of proportion because I’m mad that Mike is not playing or they didn’t release new material or Eddie is selling another guitar pedal or a truck. Give me a break.

What they could do, to please everyone. WOULD BE TO TOUR WITH ALL MEMBERS. That still wouldn’t please everyone. You would still have DICKHEADS talking shit.
Sammy and Dave trading off, Wolf could play guitar with his daddy. Will this happen? FUCK NO…Sure would be interesting though.

  • Rocko

    New Music???

  • SCAR

Hey Jimmy get this …..you shouldn’t try to reason with me because I don’t give a shit!!!!! News on here is slim to none, so when you get a story like this to fill in between what little news we do get, it is cool of the VHND to find this stuff and post it!!! So quit sounding all righteous and whinny!!! Later dickhead!!!!

  • keith

Right on Jimmy !!! some “regulars” here think “they” are vhnd or the official news source. makes me laugh so hard.if they only knew.

  • http://vhnd Jimmy

Right on Keith, I knew Scar was one of those dickheads. That’s why he was so interested in my comments. Funny thing is, I’m not reasoning with him. I love Van Halen. That’s why I’m here. I’m not here to make jokes about them and their decisons.

Rock on and piss on the dickheads who blow shit out of proportion about Van Halen. They are not fans. They might think they are.

    Scar, later Capt Dickhead.

  • andym

    Thanks SCAR!

Keith – I’m just trying to point you in the right direction. Next we’ll work on your use of vowels.

David – I doubt Eddie was working on any prototype at a Chesney show unless that prototype was Janie wanting some lovin’ backstage.

Jimmy – you need rehab………..BADLY. And it’s not worth thinking about VH “touring with all members”. We all know VH would actually have to book a tour first.

  • http://vhnd Jimmy

Andym, you need to find better use with your time. Maybe you should be a teacher. You like to correct people so much! You must be another one who fabricates news, blows news out of proportion and pokes fun at VH because you don’t like what they have done in the past. Your offended.

The guys that are doing this on VHND need to go to REHAB. They are freak fans, taking things to far in their mind.

Time to clean this site up and get the VH haters somewhere else.

  • andym

Ok, Jimmy, I’ll be a teacher and correct you. Your first lesson, English 101…

In referring to me you said, “Your offended.” Actually, that should be “You’re offended”. You see, “your” is used to describe possession of something like “your basement”, “your imagination”, or “your poor sense of humor”. When you want to say something about someone else you have to use contractions. This would be an abbreviation (that means a shorter way to say something) and use an apostrophe (that little ‘ on the keyboard). An example of this is “You are” which contracts to “You’re”. So we could say, “You’re blowing this out of proportion”, “You’re in denial”, or “You’re brainwashed”.

Now another common mistake you made was made then you said that certain people on this fine site “are freak fans, taking this to far in their mind”. Using the word “to” implies you are going somewhere or giving something to someone. So basically it sounds like the fans are taking the things to a place called “far”. What you should have used was “too far” which means overextending. Let’s try an example of that by tying in the last exercise with it: “Jimmy, we could say that you’re not amused by anyone here and you take this VH drama too seriously.”

As DLR once said many moons ago when VH actually put out new music, “Class dismissed!!!!”

  • SCAR

Pure fucking comedy andym – love it!!!!! Jimmy, later hater!!!

  • arthur_bishop1972

C’mon, teach. Please tell me YOU’RE not trying correct one of the students using grammar this atrocious??

    LMAO…

Ever see the movie ‘Back to School’??

  • KTC5150

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIRTY DUCK!!!

  • Elmo871

The truck only got 39k at barrett-jackson just now. Wow. Very well bought!

  • http://vhnd.com ed5150

I remember this being featured in Chevy Truck magazine back in 1997 when I worked there at the magazine publisher. Loved it then, love it now. Very surprised to see this have only gotten 39K. If I were loaded, man, I’d love to have added it to my little collection.

  • Marvin

hey andym, when you put something in quotes, the punctuation goes inside the quotes (including commas), not outside. Here’s an example:
“When is the next VH album coming out?”
“Why, it’s coming out in April 2010!”
    “No way dude!”
    “Yes way.”

If you are using parenthesis, the punctuation goes on the outside, like such:
VH is awsome (except they never release new music).
MA isn’t in VH anymore (but you couldn’t hear the bass anyway).

  • Greg

    Sold under value. Pretty funny.

  • Tim

That is one kick ass truck and on another topic here is no sence in arguing about what Van Halen members should or should not be in the band cause frankly we (Van Halen Fans) have no control over who gets to be in (Van Halen) or not and IMO they can have anyone playing bass or fronting the band for all I care as long as it’s Eddie on the guitar
