Duck,for someone who got into VH after dave was gone you sound like you have been there from day one! I loved DIVER DOWN,it came out my SR.year in high school. WHERE HAVE ALL THE GOOD TIMES GONE and HANG’EM HIGH were my favorite cuts off the album. Eddie’s solo in ‘GOOD TIMES was classic! The way dave goes awooooo and eddie kicks in with the solo,UNTOUCHABLE!!! I love all of VH’S cover tunes,that’s why they are the best cover band ever! Nobody can touch YOU REALLY GOT ME! Like eddie said about that song….” WE TOOK A HOT TUNE AND TURNED IT INTO A JET AIRPLANE”!!!!!!!! The KINKS were a awesome band and to take one of their songs and do it even better….THE MIGHTY VAN HALEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still don’t understand why after 25 years people still bust on “Diver Down” so much. I know Eddie has said it’s his least favorite album, but compared to forgettable garbage like OU812 and F.U.C.K. it’s a god damn masterpiece. “Secrets” and “Little Guitars” make the album legendary all by themselves. Even filler tunes like “Full Bug” and “Where Have All the Good Times Gone” still have that trademark classic VH humor and cockiness we all love. I cant say I like the cover tunes that much, but VH did interesting covers better than anyone and that holds true to this day. Diver Down will never have the complete sonic or emotional impact of truly great albums like “VH 1″ or “Fair Warning”, but it still belongs in the classic VH repertoire that changed rock music history forever.

Diamond DD, F.u.c.k. was not a garbage album, that is probably the best album with hagar. for all you out there who praise Diver down you have piss poor taste and most likely had a mullet when you saw the hide your sheep tour, and were most likely to hang out at a skating rink in 1982 bee bopping to billy squier. Happy new year.

Diver down has eddies best tone other than vh 1. It has an off vh sounding collection but it was executed perfectly. I am fine with all of the covers besides dancing in the street. It is also Has daves greatest lyrical work and truly displays his artistic ability

VHIII_1998: I agree- “For Unlawful..” was a breath of fresh rockin’ air after the silly goofyness of 5150 and OU812; It was also my favorite of the Sammy albums. Judgement Day, Poundcake and all the rest. Almost restored my faith in VH before Balance came along and the next dramatic “he-said, she-said” break-up…

Sorry but F.U.C.K. is a pile of garbage compared to Diver Down……it had a heavier bottom end which I like but the lyrical content was typical Hagar retard drivel……just listen to “Spanked” or “Pleasure Dome” and it’s painful to get all the way through! The only song I can tolerate on that album is “Runaround”. Diver Down still had that element of fun to it…..F.U.C.K. is just more Van Hagar mediocrity. I will still rate it higher than “VH 3″ — does that make you Van Hagar fans happy? LOL
