  4. Ryan says:

I’m starting to come around Sammy. I’m slowly transforming into a red-head. Thank you for taking time to give fans an update.

    Ryan

  5. DLR says:

Nice reference to VH. The guy has class.

  6. Big AL says:

Seriously! google up Red Hot chili pepper news, it says John has left the band! Just trying to help VHND with breaking news!

  7. Simdood says:

This is something you simply don’t find in show business! Thank you, Sammy, for being a stand up guy and showing your appreciation. Heartfelt thanks like this make ME so appreciative of what you do. You are a great entertainer, and (believe it or not) a truly inspirational businessman. Thank you!

  8. Matty says:

    Thanks Sam! You rock!

  9. mjc says:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family, Sammy Hagar! It’s great to see that you’re so appreciative of us fans. Long live the Foot!

  15. Dooley says:

62 and not slowin’ down. Sam’s an inspiration.

  16. Top Jimmy says:

    That was cool.

  17. TheTruthHurts says:

Van Halen has been and always will be my first love…but let’s compare:
Sammy’s latest showing–he’s thanking his fans, saying that without us he would have nothing.
Eddie’s latest showing–he’s bitching about fans and doesn’t want to put anything new out in fear of people complaining.
The differences here are staggering. You know, for a P.R. expert, Ed’s new bride should have coached him better on that instead of buying him new vests to wear in photo shoots. People have been complaining about Sammy since day one…do you see him taking his ball and going home? No, instead he just puts out record after record and has so much fun on stage that people *have* to at least respect his work ethic and how he treats fans, even if they don’t care for him personally or his music.

  18. Ryan says:

Yeah, it’s kinda ironic. I joined this website as a die-hard Eddie fan. And now I’m slowly evolving into a Red Rocker. HAHAHAHA I CAN’t DRIVE 55 MUTHA FUCKA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Rob says:

Eddie Van Halen will always be the king, but he ought to take a few lessons from Sammy on this one. Nicely done Sammy!

  20. Bluesbro says:

That guy CANNOT be 62 … just hard to believe when you look at him, and hear him. Tequila preservation?

  21. phil says:

very classy! happy holidays to everyone here at the VHND! SCAR, DUCK, SKUTCH, KIMBERLY, BLUESBRO, AND SO ON AND SO ON AND SO ON…EVERYONE!

  22. phil says:

    HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!

  23. Pat G says:

Happy holidays to you, Sammy and have a happy new year!!!
just a question??? When does the new CF dvd come out??? Sooner than any new VH product, we hope!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. Sandman says:

SAM IS A CLASS ACT!! FRESNO LOVES YA!!

  25. Shawn says:

Thanks Sammy. Merry Christmas! Thank you for always entertaining your fans!!! YOU ROCK

  26. Panama Red says:

Thanks Sammy. He truly does it for the music and the fans. He just seems like such a normal down to earth guy who would be really cool to hang out and drink some tequila with. I can only imagine how fun it would be to hang out with him for a day. Or David lee Roth. Except I might not be able to figure out what David lee Roth is saying half of the time. I might have to get high first. Lol. Both would be memorable times for sure.

  27. ClubfootKolby says:

Thank you Sammy for saving Van Halen in 1986 and keeping them going for ten great years. Still rockin and giving us new music. Thanks for everything Sammy, mike, and Van Halen.

  28. DLR says:

    1 900 Spanked….

  29. Keith says:

Thanks Sam Man ! Have a fabulous Christmas and awesome New Years. Thanks for saving Rock’n'Roll for those of us who still rock.

  30. Skutch says:

Gotta admit That was totally cool.

  31. Canes_fan5150 says:

I think Sam is really good guy. He seems to appreciate the fans and stuff. I like every Sam album of VH (iffy on OU812) But I kind of think that he just used VH to promote himself in a solo career. Every picture I have seen of him onstage he is promoting cabo wabo, red rocker, can’t drive 55 and all that jazz. Like the dude, just not in VH.

  32. Garrett says:

Thank you Sammy. You are truly a class act, from your heartfelt appreciation of your fans to your giving 110% of yourself 100% of the time, your philanthropy and your consistently kick ass music. I appreciate the fact that you realize exactly how shit works. You are the MAN!

  33. jeff says:

    Wow,
good to see some positive responses regarding Sam for once.
Happy hollidays to Sam and his family, Eddie, Dave, Alex, Mike, Wolfgang, and EVERYONE here!!

  34. stephan chartier says:

Sammy you are the man thanks bro for all the great times and letting me jam with you at your Bday bash it was the highlite of my life and you made my dream come true thanks man see you soon MARRY XMAS

  35. Scooter says:

Merry Christmas to you Sammy and the Hagar Family! I already know it will be a happy new year for you, so why bother saying;) Just continue to rock and loving life. You’re extreme class act and I wish all of you the very best.

P.s I’ve stocked Cabo Wabo Tequila at my Van Halen bar that I made personally myself. It’s looked so great for so many years. Thanks Again Sammy!

  36. Robbo says:

“TheTruthHurts” nailed it on the head! Sammy is a class act! Both he and Mikey DO APPRECIATE THE FANS and have no problem giving us a DVD, extra stuff, great live shows, etc.
It seems the folks over at the VH camp are, how shall I put this, coddling EVH? Maybe waiting for the right time to put some stuff out whether it be a DVD, unreleased stuff, etc. But WHEN is the right time? When EVH simply cannot function anymore? Are they waiting for a BIG payday? Still waiting for new stuff and I’ll always be a fan!

  37. Tommy Boy says:

Sammy has always been Sammy and Ed has always been Ed…just like you’re you and I’m me. The particulars surrounding our favorite, beloved rock ‘n roll band have been scrutinized and incessantly speculated upon (ex: daily on this site). I love VH music, all of it. Every note, lyric, drum beat and bass line. It is unfortunate that our minds cloud better judgment in the things we say and do, and some of us humans don’t truly think before we speak. Pride and ego block some of those things. Fuck…I lost my train of thought. Anyway…Thank You Sammy, Thank You Ed, Wolfgang, Alex, Dave, Mike, Gary, Joe and Chad. Good music lives on and if more is to come from Van Halen…we’ll just have to wait and see. If not, we’ve got a lot of great stuff to pick from to wile our days away with, wouldn’t you agree? Peace and Love all….

  38. Ryan says:

Sammy, I am graduating in May of next year. Will you please play my graduation party? There will be lots of babes and brew.

Here are the songs I want you to play:

    Three Lock Box
    I Can’t Drive 55
    I Don’t Need Love
    Heavy Metal

Any other songs you want to play, go for it. Bring Michael, Chad, Joe, even Eddie if he isn’t busy getting married or being gay. Dude, you have to play my graduation. The Chili Peppers can’t do it because John just quit. Even if you can’t do it, thank you for being awesome!!!

  39. D.O.A. says:

    Skutch…..you ‘ol softy! Happy Holidays!

  40. RA 8 1 2 says:

Ryan! LOLOL! How Sammy wold it be of him to actually show up and play! If he does (lol) have him play RED! WOO HOO! Happy Holidays all!

  41. Skutch says:

D.O.A., it must be the holiday season. :)

    Cheeseburgers for everyone!!!

  42. Lance says:

    Sammy:

Thank you for the holiday greetings to all of your fans. For all you’ve done musically. I have great memories playing your solo music in cover bands in the 80′s and I love what you did with VH and I’m happy to see you and Michael enjoying yourselves and playing for packed houses. If I may bring a smile to your face as you have many times to mine? If you have kids or grandkids check out my children’s book on my website http://sites.google.com/site/ljpokones/home and if you’d like a free copy to read to kids or grand kids or nephews and nieces let me know at lanceokones@yahoo.com and I’ll send you a copy. Take care, a fan always, Lance in Iowa

  43. kayser sozay says:

How cool was that? You don’t often see that kind of heartfelt sincerity and gratitude from anyone let alone a big rock star.

Sam is a living example of karma – he deserves everything he’s got yet none of it means as much to him as the love of his fans. And that’s exactly why it’s so easy to love the guy. Thank you, Sam. Happy Holidays.

  44. Jor-L5150 says:

so chili peppers need a guitarist?

    eddie isn’t busy.

  45. SirFrankenberry says:

    Props to Sam.
That..to me.. seemed very well put, heartfelt and genuine.

  46. Skutch says:

Thanks to TheTruthHurts for turning an overwhelmingly positive thread into yet another platform to bash Ed. For a minute there, I thought VHND had some peace for a day or two. Try not to be too bitter, chief. It’s Christmas.

  47. Mad Mike says:

CLASS ACT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No Sammy, thank you for all of the enjoyment you have given to us! You and Mike to me are the “other half” of what made up the soundtrack to my life. Long live Van Hagar!!!!!

  48. MN5150 says:

Sammy… We appreciate you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family! Thank YOU and Chickenfoot for the best show in years at the RnR HOF in Cleveland.

  49. Scottso says:

    Jor-L5150:

THAT is funny!!!!!!!! Wish I’d thought of it!

  50. Jorge Campos says:

When Sammy learns to love life, he’s going to really have fun! The guy has brought endless joy to my life…played When it’s Love” at my wedding 14 years ago. Keep on rocking Sammy.

  51. Van Fan says:

Merry Christmas, Sammy! We love you, man. Thanks for all the great years in VH, and THANK YOU for Chickenfoot — the best rock album of the last 10 years. It still kicks my ass every time I listen to it.

  52. Rich says:

Shame about John quitting the Chilis but they are getting a new guitarist (possibly Josh Klinghoffer, we’ll have to wait and see).

Thanks to Sam, always a beacon of hope and the future is certainly not in the past, 62 and still going strong with yet more album and touring plans next year! The man is a dynamo! A great Christmas present for me this year would be for Eddie and Sammy to reconcile their differences and get over the petty shit, after all, they’re both over 50 and who knows how long they’ll last? I hope they both live to be 300, life is too short for such talented people to go on hating.

If I can’t get that, some new stuff with Roth would be excellent (:

  53. K. Reyoch says:

Very nice Sammy! You won me over during the Sam & Dave tour (didn’t give a snow ball’s chance prior to that – sorry). You have not disappointed since.

  54. Pete says:

Very cool…I don’t think I’ve ever seen something like this. I’m sure it’s been done, but you know…you can tell “he means it”. Very cool.

SCOOTER…you should post some pix of your VH bar…I’d love to see that!

    Cheers,

    Pete

P.S. Good on everyone here too for keeping this seasonal thread “classy”. Cheers!

  55. Eric Degenhardt says:

Sam is the man. Thanks for your inspiration all these years. We went to Cabo in 2008 to see you and we’ll be there in 2010. Cheers! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  56. Ryan says:

    R A 812…
That would be so cool if he played Red. You guys are all invited, but I think he is pretty busy lol

  57. Rob says:

I met him this summer backstage at the first Chickenfoot show here in Italy, he has really been cool. He started to speking with me about random subjects and I realized that this guy i Really down to earth….. no lead singer disease, no big ego and everything…. Mike has been the same….. I’d wish the same attitude for the VH bros….

  58. Sean says:

Sammy thank you for all the years! How true about Sam saving VH in ’86. We saw what happened with Cherone, who knows where VH might be had Sam not come along. They might be buried so deep in hibernation that none of this reunion stuff would be possible. And it figures the only two classy members to play in VH show up for the fans at the Rock Hall induction.

  59. Kevin says:

Sammy is a class act…just like Michael Anthony. You rock Sammy.

  60. TheTruthHurts says:

Skutch says: “Thanks to TheTruthHurts for turning an overwhelmingly positive thread into yet another platform to bash Ed.” Competent reading comprehension would show that I just stated facts; I didn’t bash Ed. How sad that just relaying facts about Ed sounds like bashing him.

  61. JCN says:

    Ditto Sam.

    Right back at you!

Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!

  62. jeff butler says:

sammy, i love ya, man. i was in vegas for your show on friday and then the chickenfoot show on saturday. had backstage passes and wanted to meet you soooo bad. but you busted. got to meet everyone but you. and get the hell back up to eugene, oregon, goddammit! you rock. you are awesome.

  63. Panama Red says:

    To Canes_fan5150 -
I agree with you about Sammy appreciating his fans and being a nice guy and everything but judging from your comments,(No disrespect intended),I don’t think you’ve ever seen Sammy Hagar live with Van Halen. He totally embraced being in that band and loved Van Halen fans. That doesn’t mean he was going to give up being himself onstage though. He already had a successful career and fan base. Remember, he left his career as a solo artist when he was asked to join Van Halen.
He had to put out one more album as a solo artist after he joined VH because he was still under contract with Geffen. Eddie played bass on that album and co-produced it. He didn’t leave VH to start a solo career. David Lee Roth left VH to start a solo career. Sammy didn’t start making more solo records until VH started working with Dave again.
He would wear Red Rocker shirts onstage while he was in VH because that’s who he is, that’s his moniker. And the people who were Sammy Hagar fans before he was in VH knew him by that name.
The “I can’t drive 55″ thing was a big hit before he was in VH and he was famous for it, kind of like a motto. He would also routinely wear shirts and banners that fans made and threw up on stage that said “RedRocker” “Cabo Wabo” and “I Can’t Drive 55.” And Eddie would play “I Can’t Drive 55″.
“Cabo Wabo” was a song he wrote with Van Halen. (and also kind of a state of mind, lifestyle reference and a damn fine tequila that I just took a shot of, Holy Shit Anejo kicks ass) And he opened the Cabo Wabo cantina while he was in VH and would hang out with the guys in VH and he even tried to get the VH brothers involved in his cantina. (Selling them shares of it)
Nobody wanted him to erase his past when he joined Van Halen. He shouldn’t be faulted for already being famous.

  64. CEO says:

Sammy, please keep recording great rock music!! You and your friends are the only ones who are rocking anymore! Please keep on having fun and putting out new, fun-loving, hard rock music. We love you!!!
