Kenny Chesney Jams With Sammy Hagar in Vegas

Kenny Chesney, Sammy HagarOne could only imagine the collective gasp of millions of heartbroken fans all across the country earlier this year, when Kenny Chesney announced he wouldn’t be touring in 2010. But last Friday night on the Las Vegas Strip, there was a collective gasp of quite a different kind, when Kenny strolled onstage unexpectedly in the middle of someone’s show.

Robin Leach reports in Vegas Deluxe that Kenny appeared at the grand opening of rocker Sammy Hagar’s flagship Cabo Wabo Cantina at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile. Sammy was able to keep his buddy hidden backstage until the country superstar joined him for a duet of  “I’ll Fall In Love Again.”

A jam session followed, featuring Van Halen guitarist Michael Anthony, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul.

“I’ll fall in love again” is a great song…I’m dead serious. I always liked it…

  • DLR

Wouldn’t everyone but Vinnie be known as chickenfoot?!?!

The guy is writing the gossip on the vegas strip better keep current on things lol

DLR needs to read the note a little closer. Chad smith was there. Any video of this jam around??? That was always one of my favorite Sammy songs. Sam could jam with anyone and it would sound cool.

  • Pete

This is what working musicians do…they keep things interesting by jamming with their friends. Thanks for keeping things interesting guys!

  • Reggie Hayse

Man, I sure wish I could have been there!!!

  • Adrian

    snnnnooorrrreeeee

  • Shayne

Who is Kenny Chesney?? Country guy???

I will probably get putzed or a “who f’in cares”?

I was wondering if Vinnie Paul would show back up any where. I can’t imagine him not having a great time with Sammy and the guys.

  • Mark Sachs

This is not the first time that Sammy and Mike has jammed with a country star. Does anyone remember when Sammy, Mike, Eddie and Al appeared in a country music video with Hank Williams, Jr.? It was after the 5150 tour

  • DBDlives

Hey Bran Halen, Vinnie Paul has his own band called HellYeah. Hes been out and about for a couple years now.

  • Panama Red

I hope some footage does surface of this Vegas show. Vinnie has jammed with Sammy before but I’ve only seen pictures. And I hope Chickenfoot waits for Chad Smith to finish his stuff with the Chili Peppers before they record another album, because I think having Chad Smith as the drummer is one of the coolest things about Chickenfoot. But, if they had to go on without him I can’t think of a better drummer to fill that spot than Vinnie Paul. That would be freakin sweet.

  • chris.omeara

Does this mean Kenny Chesney will be the new vocalist for Van Halen?

  • chris.omeara

If so, can we get updates for Kenny here at the VHND?

  • Adrian

    hahaha chris, probably

  • patt5150

    Ummmm, who cares? (lol)

Vinnie would be great replacement for touring and playing live shows!

  • keith

    you haters really need to get a life :0}

  • D.O.A.

Don’t get too carried away with the bashing…..the brothers have played with Kenny as well.

    Next item please.

  • Joe

chris.omeara-your posts had me rolling in the Aisle….

  • Shyboy

    Panama Red:
    I miss him too man!

  • Pete

DUCK…I know you’re not a Van Hagar guy at all, but I appreciate your objectivity to say you can still like “this song or that song”. I totally respect that.

  • Dooley

Yeah, Duck. That enhances your “cred”.

  • sean

Who cares? I care, I met Dime and Vinnie in Dallas before they got big. Great guys and long live Pantera’s music(my second fave band).
