Kenny Chesney Jams With Sammy Hagar in Vegas
One could only imagine the collective gasp of millions of heartbroken fans all across the country earlier this year, when Kenny Chesney announced he wouldn’t be touring in 2010. But last Friday night on the Las Vegas Strip, there was a collective gasp of quite a different kind, when Kenny strolled onstage unexpectedly in the middle of someone’s show.
Robin Leach reports in Vegas Deluxe that Kenny appeared at the grand opening of rocker Sammy Hagar’s flagship Cabo Wabo Cantina at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile. Sammy was able to keep his buddy hidden backstage until the country superstar joined him for a duet of “I’ll Fall In Love Again.”
A jam session followed, featuring Van Halen guitarist Michael Anthony, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul.

DLR needs to read the note a little closer. Chad smith was there. Any video of this jam around??? That was always one of my favorite Sammy songs. Sam could jam with anyone and it would sound cool.

I was wondering if Vinnie Paul would show back up any where. I can’t imagine him not having a great time with Sammy and the guys.

This is not the first time that Sammy and Mike has jammed with a country star. Does anyone remember when Sammy, Mike, Eddie and Al appeared in a country music video with Hank Williams, Jr.? It was after the 5150 tour

Hey Bran Halen, Vinnie Paul has his own band called HellYeah. Hes been out and about for a couple years now.

I hope some footage does surface of this Vegas show. Vinnie has jammed with Sammy before but I’ve only seen pictures. And I hope Chickenfoot waits for Chad Smith to finish his stuff with the Chili Peppers before they record another album, because I think having Chad Smith as the drummer is one of the coolest things about Chickenfoot. But, if they had to go on without him I can’t think of a better drummer to fill that spot than Vinnie Paul. That would be freakin sweet.

Does this mean Kenny Chesney will be the new vocalist for Van Halen?

DUCK…I know you’re not a Van Hagar guy at all, but I appreciate your objectivity to say you can still like “this song or that song”. I totally respect that.
December 8th, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Yeah, Duck. That enhances your “cred”.
December 8th, 2009 at 4:56 pm
Who cares? I care, I met Dime and Vinnie in Dallas before they got big. Great guys and long live Pantera’s music(my second fave band).
