It is a well oiled machine is it not?

  • mjc

cf is a machine. The vh machine is brokendown, with a clueless evh in charge of the wreck.

  • http://none Dirty Duck

If the VH machine was broken down people wouldnt still be buying the records. VH is a legendary band that has done more than enough. Influenced many and made rock history.

Some “fans” have become bitter corporate music machines that have broken down…grown up….lost their cool…became boring and demand an album or anwser from ed.

So sad the state of these so called fans.
I mean, if you had a steak for so many years how can you just settle for a microwavable burger?

    Well oiled machine? Oh please….

  • D.O.A.

Duck, this was a great post from you, until the last statement.

  • Russ

Duck, CF really is a well oiled machine…when you look at the entire process of planning, logo, tour, website, merchandise, fan interaction, TV etc., it really has been well planned and executed. Aside from whether you like the product or not (and it’s OK if you like CF or not Bro, I like CF but I don’t put them on the throne with VH – no, no, no – come see me in 6-8 years and then we’ll talk)you have to marvel at the execution.

  • Dooley

CF is great, at least for now.

I’m just wondering what will happen when Chad gets a call
from the Chilis that they are gearing back up again. This is all driven by events.

As for VH, I hope there’s a good future beyond merchandise, not just a “pasture”. Pop quiz, who invoked “pasture” first?
It depends on the desire/ability of Ed and Dave to work together in the studio. Again, it’s all driven by events.

  • Rich

    Dooley,

The Chili Peppers are recording soon if not in the new year. The CF stuff is wrapping up and Chad has been in the band for 20 years now – he can’t just throw that away for this band. Michael keeps saying how Chad’s just going to do his thing with the peppers and come straight back to CF, which worries me as the Chili Peppers are an original band with their own music and style, whereas Chickenfoot is a collaboration. Being a huge RHCP fan I don’t want things to be rushed with their next album, as it’ll be 4 years since their last. However, CF is great and its filling the VH void.

As for VH machine being broken….its like Ed keeps telling us he’s got the parts but he doesn’t know how to put them together. The instructions are at Dave’s house but nobody ever ventures there!

  • RickieVanWhalen

    Rich

Right on. Dave has the owners manual. It’s time for a road trip Ed.

  • http://none Dirty Duck

    Rich:

I agree with what you wrote about dave too.
As much as I have faith that there is SOMETHING in the works (due to the fact alone that roth has been waaaay to quiet)
I do wonder at times if we’ve seen the last of VH.
But unlike many here that are filled with hate towards someone who wrote the fuckin’ soundtrack for a good percentage of their lives, I think ed has put his life into music and might just feel it’s time to move on and for once….really live.

  • phil

    well said RUSS!

  • el c

whatever vh does in the future, they (al and ed) will fuck it up again in some fashion. wether it will be firing roth (again) or putting out re-hashed greatest hits (79-84) or open the crypt with all those old vids and footage. they will do something, but it will be with a fuck up.
look they did the best possible thing for all involved (even sammy was shouting for them to do it) and reunited, only to fuck it up with mike.
say whatever you want with cf, they are a great unit, who put out a great rock album that filled a void for many, and did pretty good business in this day and age. they are four guys not motivated by anything else than playing(and you can argue that anyway you want-you know it s true)and will continue to do so. chad will go back to rhcp, the other three will write the dics, he will come into the studio, lay the tracks, and the thing will be released when the rhcp dies down.

  • Herb

    Another satisfied customer ^

  • http://none Dirty Duck

I love being the odd duck out….
it’s like a scar on the face, it brings out character.

  • Bluesbro

    The hoodie looks pretty good.

  • http://vhnd.com 50yr old fan

duck, like we used to say, shit in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up faster. no matter how you spin any story on this sight talk is cheap and it has been over a year since the last tour and about six months since ed has said anything. and one more thing maybe dave isn’t saying anything because he might not be in the band anymore.

  • Stevo

The 3 items in the first row are KILLER! I’m getting all of them.

  • Rick Pride

Hey all. Chuckenfoot is a well oiled machine. I love it!!!! The Mighty Van Halen isn’t broken, Dave is in the band Eddie is putting a new supercharged bigger than life engine and when all those bolts get put in place it’s going to rip apart the highways!!!!! Are you guys READY?????? When it’s time the Diamond One will put on his captains hat grip the oversized steering wheel smack some hot chicks on the ass and we’ll have some we never thought imaginable!!! I’m talking the kinda stuff that will knock your eyes out of their sockets, melt your ears off your head and burn off all of your skin!!!! Have faith brothers and sisters, we shall be living large again real soon!!!! And then another Chickenfoot album!!! Life is golden my friends. Happy Thanksgiving to you all and I’m thankful for both bands and the music that is the soundtrack of our lives!!!!!

  • Herb

Duck, you don’t seem anymore odd than anyone else that’s frustrated with the waiting…it’s just that attempting to infer what CF has accomplished is anything less than amazing, is just plain silly.

    It surprises me for sure.

  • diamond doug

    50 yr old fan:
We all know, that if Dave was out of the band..the first thing he’d do, is call Brain Young. Followed by reforming his band and cashing in, on the popularity of the last tour.
The fact that we haven’t heard a word out of him, is a good thing. Silence is golden when it comes to him…..

  • Big AL

Come on now! VH broke down, NEVER! When you play to 1,000,000 FANS on your biggest tour ever, it takes a while to let the engines cool. Soon, The machine that is Van Halen will be running at top speeds again. Polished, refreshed and itching to give you the ride of your life!

The cool thing about being a Van Halen fan, is that when your well oiled machine (cf) is in the garage, missing a wheel, we’ll feel your pain. We’ll just act a little classier and let you know, your band will be back as soon as they can!!!!

    07-08 belonged to VH
    09 belonged to CF
2010 WILL BELONG TO VAN HALEN!!!

  • sammyvanroth

come on people! it’s not a competition. what’s wrong with having both bands do well? everyone on this site needs to chill and have a beverage and enjoy!

  • ‘Foot Soldier

Yeah, I love the hoodie & wear it often. But I paid $60 for it during the tour, and now Van Halen Store has it for half that…

  • http://cheeseburgerpicnic.com Skutch

Agreed, sammyvanroth. Chill out. It’s only rock and roll. We all want VH to record, but they will when they are ready. If they don’t, life goes on. If they do, I’m not holding my breath that it will be any better than the last few VH records, which I didn’t buy either. At least with Roth there is potential for it to be good (to my ears).

  • Rick Pride

Remember at the end of 08 when the Diamond One said Van Halen fans would have a present for Christmas of 09? Still wishing with child like faith!!!

  • Karl

^ Perhaps he meant some Chickenfoot hoodies and Ts…

  • http://vhnd.com 50yr old fan

diamond doug, remember ed calls the shots not dave. and dave made more money on the last tour than he made in the last 10 yrs so unless you are an insider just remember all the yrs of cheap talk.

  • diamond doug

    Karl:
    Nice one! lol!!

  • Karl

And that’s a very good point of your’s, Doug. I dare say that Dave would be out there doing his thing, high profile style if he’d been cut lose.

  • Karl

Of Course, that should have been ‘loose’.

  • Ron

Rick Pride: “Remember at the end of 08 when the Diamond One said Van Halen fans would have a present for Christmas of 09?”

    Guitar Hero Van Halen

Dirty Duck: “If the VH machine was broken down people wouldnt still be buying the records.”

Sure they would. The machine wasn’t broken down when they recorded the records. It *appears* to be broken down now, however.

The Beatles just sold a ton of records but I don’t think anyone thinks they’re coming back anytime soon.

  • Rick Pride

    Ron,

Right on. I totally forgot about guitar hero Van Halen.

(wishes they would release a new album)

  • Mark Sachs

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my Van Halen Rock N Roll Brothers and Sisters!

  • http://none Dirty Duck

    50yearoldfan:

Hope you and your family had a nice thanksgiving…

I dont know why you constantly lump me in with the others who are “wishing” for a new record. I’ve said it many times…I could care less.
I’d be happy as a duck “holding shit in one hand” with those old shows on dvd and some backstage footage.
As far as dave is concerned I stand by what I wrote. If dave was out of the band I’m sure we would have heard something by now. It’s not like dave hasnt put his 2 cents in before, with the 96′ fiasco.
And again…if dave isnt in the band then thats that! I’m over it. I saw the reunion tour…had one of the best times in my life (even though i’m sure that show could never compare to their glory days)and got to see ed and dave on the same stage. It’s a great memory and thats all that matters. I’m really a humble guy that’s content with what I got….a little “classic” van halen obsessive…but humble.

  • bullittcrazy

This is total crap. CF started out as a legit band and I might add I very much liked the music. This has gotten to be a merchandise cow obviously with the crap being just as if not more important than the music itself. Way to go Sammy. You proven yourself to be a very successful businessman! Gratz!

Now get this CF shit off VHND as it is obvious that Mike and Sam are officially out of Van Halen. Start CFND if need be, just please don’t include the lengendary VH (no matter if they are active or not)with all this CH hype. The only reason that CF is featured here on this website is because the site needs the hits. Van Halen will be fine without this site…so feel free to strip the VH from here to make room for more CF material. Honestly….why not?

Long live the legend of Van Halen!

  • VH Dude

@bullshitcrazy (that was too easy): Lighten up man. What’s wrong with VHND giving fans a great selection of VH and VH-related merchandise to buy? That’s a bad thing? Again, VHND is dedicated to Van Halen and VH alumni. It’s OK if you don’t like CF – I’m totally cool with that. But there are tons of VH fans that do like CF. And I guarantee you that every last CF fan is also a VH fan. How about a little respect for fellow VH loving fans? It would be different if VHND started selling AC/DC t-shirts at the Van Halen store (although I like AC/DC too). That wouldn’t make sense. But selling CF merchandise makes perfect sense.

And bashing Sam and Mike and CF as being more about merchandising than the music? Just a fucking retarded comment. The Gratz! go to you asswipe. What band doesn’t sell merchandise? Do you really think they are making a killing off of thier shirts and hoodies? Thier mission all along…sell merchandise? I saw them at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. I’m sure there was a t-shirt tent there, but I didn’t see it. They’ve been touring small venues and bringing the music to the fans – last time I heard, that’s what music fans want. I thought it was ballsy to tour without playing any VH tunes, RHCP, or even a Satch tune here and there. They’ve proven themselves…what more do they have to do? Did you ever think that maybe the fans WANT to buy some of this stuff? When and if VH ever release another album and tour, I hope they have as much merchandise available and the killer media blitz that Chickenfoot has given fans.

I usually like any Van Halen fan no matter what we disagree about, just because they are a Van Halen fan. But you sound like a real douchebag. Why don’t you go be a dick somewhere else? Or lighten the fuck up.

  • VH Dude

By the way, that Chickenfoot show I was lucky enough to see at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame… it was a FREE concert. I won tickets. You couldn’t buy tickets if you wanted to. Go figure.

  • Rick Pride

Dirty Duck we should hit up a show together next tour!

    Bullittcrazy you’re a tool!

  • Rick Pride

    Duck Me Pete and Scar!

  • Ron

@bullittcrazy: You do realize this site is owned by VanHalenStore.com, right? Part of the reason they run this site is to sell the merchandise in their store. If you don’t like that, you’d better quit coming here because I doubt it’s going to change.

  • Karl

And the Dick Of The Week award goes to… da da, daaa… bullittcrazy! Congratulations.

  • http://none Dirty Duck

Well If I havent been branded a dick by karl yet then i must be doing somethin’ right! ;)

    Rick Pride!!

Whats up my brother!? Hell yeah…”IF” the tour happens we should all try to meet up…gonna be damn near impossible…but at least some of us! I live out on long island…dont know if anyone else is from out here…

ANYBODY OUT THERE FROM LONG ISLAND..island…island!? (My attempt at an echo)

  • Rick Pride

VH Dude. I was at that show also. I got there around 12:00 noon and took in the Hall ofFame. I was going down one escalator and turned to my right and saw Michael Anthony going up another. I was like a 12 year old I told my buddy look Michael Anthony!!! Mike was looking all too cool had his shades on and just gave a really big smile. Then came Sammy and Satch. Later they did a filmed interview and I actually got to shake his hand an talk to him for a few minutes.

  • VH Dude

Rick Pride: Good for you man. I’d love to meet the guys and just shake thier hand and say a simple thanks for all the years of good times. That was a great show and it kind of felt special with the R & R location. Loved the projection of the CF logo on the side of the Hall of Fame. I took quite a few photos with my wife’s camera – only to have it disappear at a soccer game a few days later. Kicking myself now for not downloading the photos right away. Oh well, got the memories in my head.

You’re in Cinci right? Let’s hope VH puts out another album with Dave and tours – we’ll have to meet up. Would actually be cool to find a centrally located city for some of us on the board and meet up (if actually possible). Long Island’s not too incredibly far…we’d have to talk that Duck character into meeting us half way somewhere ;) Cheers.

  • Karl

Duck, I’m afraid you’re going to have to try much harder if you want to win the Dick Of The Week award! :-)
