Michael Anthony leaving the Jimmy Kimmel Live show on Nov. 5th:

  • Ryan

Awesome! These guys have a real awesome blues vibe, awesome songs, and they’re having a blast. They have the kind of songs that make you want to just dance, like early Van Halen.

    Ryan

  • Glen Cunnington

wow that was great watching that last night hey im 15 and i love this band i wish other kids my age could get more into this. its too bad they get all caught up in this emo screamo shit, and miley cyrus justin bieber shit, its too bad they can’t hear what real talent is.

  • Glen Cunnington

oh and does anybody kknow where i could wathc the whole thing of oh yeah

  • Peedah

First I’m not “Hatin” on CF I just think it (the performance was lackluster. Joe’s tone is marginal and Sammy is bland. The Rhythm section was good MA shined, it was nice to hear his bass! Other than that it was average the song and the performance (imho).

  • sweethomecabo

I believe that is what is meant when someone says;spot-on!

  • Corey

Is it just me or does sammy look FUCKING AMAZING for being 62 years old? It’s incredible.

  • ClubfootKolby

I hope Eddie and Alex were watching, they need the help

  • Keith

Aren’t they the Shit ? Damn straight. They so rock. Haters are jealous cuz VH would never do a TV show gig like this or Conan, or SNL, or anyother. Even if they did, it’s be ‘syncd and they could never have this much fun. LONG LIVE TRUE ROCK, CHICKENFOOT.

  • Andrew

Voted best new band? There are no other new bands. If this is the future of rock …… god help us. People like this drivel because there is nothing else new out there. Sammy needs to lose the man boobs and Mike nice gut on ya bro. And people say Eddie had a drinking problem, Mike put the JD down, If ya do you may get your voice back!. TRUE ROCK sorry, Enough with the CHICKENSHIT! GAAAARBAAAAGEEE!!!!!

  • sammyvanroth

Andrew, you are a fuckin idiot and your comments are garbage! as far as i know mikey’s partying and drinking hasn’t affected his marriage or led to tweaking. think before you open your mouth fuck knob!

  • Rich

    ANDREW:

Get your facts straight! They were voted best new band at the CLASSIC ROCK AWARDS. Meaning, they have the vibe of the stuff we were hearing in the 70s and the 80s – all of the musicians in this band were putting out Gold/Platinum albums in at least one of those decades!

Its people like you that stagnate the music business – something is new and people like it, yet its haters like you who keep the new music we DO hear extremely generic (most of it anyway).

If you look at the old videos, Sammy was quite athletically fit in his day – how about we catch up when you’re 62 and see if you haven’t decided to have a few of the finer things in life. Oh yeah, and put out a Gold record and have singing voice that sounds as good as it was 30 years ago. Dicksplash!

  • Mark Sachs

Hey Glen Cunninogton, To see “Oh Yeah“ go to Jimmy Kimmel.com.

  • Mark Sachs

Sorry about the misspelling of your last name, Glen.

  • Nixter

    These guys rock! nuff said…

  • chris.omeara

Typical generic late-80′s cock-rock; If these guys didn’t have famous names their album wouldn’t have even been noticed by the press or fans. The New Led Zeppelin? “Dream Another Dream, This Dream Is Over….”

  • kayser sozay

Damn cool. These guys are really on a roll and they are just getting more and more popular. Too bad Chad has to go do RHCP things so they can’t just keep it going

  • Vanicionado

    Whooo!!!

    That kicked ass!!

  • http://www.murr-vegas.com Drew Collins

Who gives a shit what they look like? The music is great. Many great bands just keep on going. Nobody’s telling McCartney to pack it in. Last I heard, The Stones could still fill a stadium. I just saw Kiss last week and they can still bring it. What’s the point? They are all old. And they all STILL have it. If you don’t like it, don’t listen. If you don’t like Chickenfoot, find a new website. There is room for everyone. If a fifteen year old kid can dig this and see that there is something he likes, then that is a good thing. Nobody respects an opinion if it isn’t thought out and presented as such. To Andrew (see above), sorry, but the only drivel I see is what you wrote. Get a better argument than man boobs.

  • http://vhnd surfsno2008

sammy looks so good because he takes care of himself
    no smoking being one thing
the other being he has a hot wife and gets plenty of action

he does not stress out about anything and maybe the aliens helped too.

    he.he.

  • carl

Boy this site really has become the cf show.. wheres the vh news. not to put down cf cause i like them but i dont think their all that like people. too me there good but just average. Also on a side note i think keith must not have seen eddie on two and a half men. he still rocks.

  • Amad Ali

Dudes, Andrew and Peedah: WTF????? That was a solid performance that many signed bands in their twenties could not pull off that successfully live. Are you kidding? Sammy and the band at their ages look and sound great. And honestly, that style and sound of music is really unheard of today. We’re lucky that Chickenfoot exists. You two had to have been high when you wrote your posts.

  • Diamond Doug

I was a little pissed, and thought it was disrespectful to the fans and the band…that they aired like 20 back to back commercials right before the “Foot” took the stage. Then had the “balls” to only play 15 seconds of “Oh Yeah” cause time ran out?? WTF???

  • Keith

~Andrew~ WTF? go listen to your Coldplay friends

  • RickieVanWhalen

Bottom Line: This tune blows but it is 10 times better than anything EVH has put out over the past 10 years!

  • RickieVanWhalen

Diamond Doug – excellent point. That’s a tune worth listen too and the TV executives smacked us in the face! Total BS.

  • Pete

I think the reason the haters trash the foot is because Chickenfoot reminds them of what VH isn’t anymore.

VH may well pull together a CD. If so, I will be happy to buy it and I hope it will make everyone happy.

The sad thing is Eddie is in full “clearing house” mode and he’s simply selling anything he can to make $ rather than doing everything he can to be a musician that makes music.

Chickenfoot is doing what a great band does…and THAT’S what has the haters all fired up. The better the foot does the louder the haters get. It kind of amuses me though…

  • pushtoshove

Andrew has ‘only child’ syndrome and will say anything to get attention…The ‘Foot’ Rocks!!!!

  • Ryan

    Andrew,

Why would you poke fun at Sammy and Michael’s weight? Rock n’ roll has never been about looks. I can’t stand shallow people like you; nobody is perfect and everyone has flaws.

That being said, rock n’ roll is not a competition. Why is everybody here treating it like an Olympic sport? Who cares who’s better? Whether or not you like Chickenfoot, there are people out there who enjoy listening to them and it makes them feel good. Also, people need to stop comparing Joe Satriani and Eddie Van Halen; they are two awesome guitarists with completely different styles. To me, I like Eddie because he always plays on the edge and he isn’t afraid to make mistakes as long he has lots of feeling. But Joe plays some of the sickest melodies I have ever heard. So, why can’t I like both of them? I am sick of people turning this into a competition. This is not what music is about.

And Eddie is not all about making money; the guy had cancer. Did everybody seem to forget that? He is still getting his life back together. I believe that he is going to crank out some awesome music, but it could be awhile, because he doesn’t want to put out the first thing that comes to him. Anybody who has actually written a song knows that you can’t force it, it has to just come naturally.

  • hairygerman

Good performance by a good band. Love seeing Mikey out there again. I get sick of all the VH comparisons. I’m really looking forward to new VH with Roth so the Sammy/CF haters actually have a basis for comparison. 26 years is a long time to have to wait (2 songs on a greatest hits album doesn’t really count). I hope it’s good.

  • RememberThePromQueen

‘Sexy Little Thing’ just doesn’t sound right in that key. Guess they had to transpose it to accommodate Sammy’s voice? Still a good performance overall.

  • kayser sozay

Andrew, you’re an idiot. Man boobs? What a child.

If I look half as good as Sammy does at 62 years old I’ll be happy as hell.

  • Bluesbro

I was watching this with my 22 year old daughter this morning, and I asked her how old she thought Sammy was. Her exact words were “it is a little hard to tell with the sunglasses on, but I would say maybe late 30′s”. Her tastes run more toward R&B and Pop. She lives in Los Angeles and has heard of CF, but doesn’t know wnything about them (until now). She thought they were great too, and is going to Best Buy for the CD before she drives home today … lol.

  • Pete

Ed was the shit back then…

  • Van Fan

I LOVE the Foot, but that was a lackluster performance. Compare it to the video of “Oh Yeah” from the Tonight Show (on the day the album was released) and the difference is unmistakable.

Just trying to be realistic. They’ve looked and sounded better — but everyone has an off day once in a while. Long live the Foot!!

  • sweethomecabo

Andrew are you that ignorant? A persons asthetic has nothing to do with their ability to perform. They were flawless and there is no denying it. Go back down to your parents basement and wait for VH to put something out. Bring a lot of supplies…you”ll be down there for a while

  • snow

Chickenfoot is a cool band and sound great but everytime i get on here you guys cant just leave Van Halen alone! Chickenfoot puts out one cd and they are the best thing going. Give me a freaking break!!!! Give them awhile together they would have problems too. Satch like Ed will get tired of Spammys second grade song writing ability. Thats right Spammy fans!!! You do nothing but talk negative shit about VH!!! But i guarantee you will be the first in line to buy a CD if they ever put one out! I do like Chickenfoot but why cant we talk about what they are doing instead of the VH bullshit everytime!!! Sammy you need to at least sing in a freaking key! Music and Mikes voice great Sammy needs to learn to sing notes that match the music.

  • sweethomecabo

Bluesbro….I think thats really cool. The younger generation getting to see real musicians perform. Sometimes i wonder if there was some sort of an error on Sams birth cerificate ( Of course I know He knows when he was born- so does his family) The man just doesn”t look 63! ( as of 10-13-09) As far as people bashing him on his looks…..WTF! He’s 63!!!!! Go look at other people in their early 60′S. And his voice is still great, its much more rough then the VH and even Montrose days.

  • Andrew

So nice pissing people off with with one’s opinions!!!! God love freedom of speech!! NICE MAN BOOB”S SAMMY! Ya must have a hard time on stage with those.

  • Bluesbro

Better watch out Andrew. You’re obsessing over Sammy’s mounds might lead one to think you actually like them ;-)

  • Rick Pride

Calm down all. I am the uniter!!! I live all aspects of past and present Van Halen and Chickenfoot!!! I can’t wait till the next VH album. I keep trying to picture the new Van Halen cover and what it will sound like and I wonder if they’ll call it Van Halen IV. That would be cool. I hope Dave breaks out the assless chaps and the midgets!!! We all should be happy we have the amazing Chickenfoot and Dave in VH. Don’t you guys realize we truly have The Best Of Both Worlds!!!!!

  • Karl

Nice try Andrew. Trouble is, you didn’t piss anyone off, you just made yourself look like a prick.

  • ikethebird

I never knew MA was left-handed.

  • VHIII_1998_

they sounded good, vh is fading away, by the time they release some thing it will be long over due like GNR chinese democracy. it is sad to think that but eventually we will all lose hope and not give a shit anymore. Johnny Cash will probably release an album before VH will and he has been dead for six years. Tupac has released more albums in the past decade than VH has and he’s been dead 13 years.

  • Rich

Andrew just knows fuck all about this band. If David Lee Roth spanked one out in the shower he’d be down in the sewer licking it up.

Andrew, you just look like an idiot. You claim there “are no new bands”, yet we’re talking about classic rock. Or do you take the Eddie philosophy of not listening to anything new, ever?

Either way, you’re the reason why we have so many shit bands that try to look good for the MTV videos but their music sucks a load of shit.

  • jrocks

    Hey Pete,
I Humbly agree with you. I think CF is a decent band and doing very well for their age. I think the only reason I don’t like them that much is because it does in fact remind me of what VH could and should be doing. By the way, WHERE IS DLR?

  • sweethomecabo

Snow….I’m curious what key do you think he (Sammy ) was singing in? Also, believe me i grew up on VH ( Dave era) then when Sammy came aboard ( by the way, that was by way of Ed inviting him) I became a fan. I loved both versions. But I can honestly tell you that when and IF VH ever puts anything out, i certainly will not be running out to by it nor will i be in any hurry to download it. Ed has pushed VH fans away for so long now. I really could care less if they never put out music ever again. Say what you will about Sammy, make fun of him draw up your conclusion that are based on no fact; Sammy is enjoying what he is doing along with the other members of CF. They are having fun. Let those who enjoy CF do so. You are not being forced to listen to their music…so go back to you little space in life and wait for your “new” Vh music. if its anything like the garbadge that they put out in 95 with Roth -I”ll pass

  • Pete

JROCKS…if you know your VH history, Dave is simply being quiet so that he can continue to cash VH cheques. If he talks, it’s over. Ed is a delicate creature. It’s a shame to see Dave so obedient though, but hey, you saw what happened to Mike…and he bit his tongue for YEARS! Dave used to be great for a good quote, but he knows how his bread is buttered. I miss Dave’s big personality in the press. Oh well…

  • Vanicionado

Pete… I’d rather see Dave go call up Mr. Vai and get the band back together than to suffer a ‘placated’ DLR.

Dave has too much energy to contain. My fear is that this new “Van Halen” is going to implode from the sheer mass of expectation, built up years of anxiety, and Ed’s dillusions.

    He’s clearly a mad-man type of genius.

Not the Stephen Hawking kind at all!!

On another note, this Chickenfoot perfomance has really driven a stack in my heart… I like RHCP alot, but as-of-late, the music has been much too reduntant.

Chickenfoot is the breath of fresh air I’ve needed.

So… to see them on hiatus at the beginning of their most-promising career…

It’s a bitter thing to swallow.

    Hold out for new VH…

No hold out for new CHICKENFOOT…

It’s like being the junky to two different types of drugs.

And although I can go shoot-up the old dose, I’d much rather go freebase on some new shit.

We suffer greatly because of the music we enjoy.

Of that, no matter what, we can all agree.

  • Vanicionado

    PS – props to VHIII_1998 & Rich… well spoke!!

  • Vanicionado

    I’m going to rant on…

This is going to be a NEW Van Halen.

Mike was right. The last tour was NOT a reunion.

As much as we wish that a new Van Halen album will “sound” like the first incarnation, the new album of 201X will NOT be Van Halen Mach 1.

It will be Van Halen Mach 4.

The power shift is going to be something that Dave will have to deal with.

I don’t care what anyone thinks of Michael Anthony’s musical ability, impact on Van Halen’s creativity, nor what they think of his personal hygene.

He was one fourth of the Van Halen sound.

If one of you fuckers puts on Van Halen I and finds something lacking with any of the music on there, then you’re not a Van Halen fan, and you should leave this site right now.

    Mike was there.

    He’s not there now.

No part of Van Halen I is replaceable.

That ‘hit’ your craving will not be the same.

To some, it may be better.

My fear, is that is may not be…
