in my opinion history stands up for itself by the record books Dave was better in Van Halen with Dave they released 6 albums and with Sammy they released five albums and they sold more total albums with Dave and yes they had more number one albums with Sammy but we are talking total records sold Dave has two VH albums that sold over 10 million each sammy dont come close and you ask most real Van Halen fans which albums are there favorite and they all way say either Fair Warning , Van Halen 1 , or 1984 all of which are Daves yes Sammy is good but it was a different band with Dave they were rock and roll with Sanmmy they were pop and top 40 i respect Sammy and his style and like his era of Van Halen but it does not match the flair and energy they had with Dave with dave they reinvented rock and roll in the 80′s you look at 1978 Aerosmith was split up Led Zeppelin broke up because of deaths and so did the who acdc black sabbath broke up ozzy left kiss was doing disco and Van Halen came in and knocked everybody on there asses and woke people up then you saw every guitar player painting there guitar like Eddie’s and trying to play eruption and every 80′s singer put on spandex and had long blonde hair like dave so Van Halen were very influential in there own right and rank up there with the best ever after 31 years there still rocking and all alive no tragedies or overdoses or deaths Van halen did it right and not to many bands can go through all the singer changes and still be popular and it show how important they are that when they change a member people get so involved with that band most bands change a member and nobody cares or you dont even notice. so with dave they sold more records total then Sammy but with Sammmy they had more number one hits and yes they sold a lot of records too with Sammy and where Sammy beats Dave is Sammy sold more solo albums then Dave did when he went solo but i likes daves solo years and have all his albums as well my personal favorites are Eatem and smile DLR Band skyscraper and sammy had a great solo career as well.so i wish people would quit fighting over who was better and just listen to both i do when i want love songs and ballads i listen to sammy and when i want to rock and party i listen to dave and also look at this if you are driving down the street and listening to the radio to an oldies station or rock station and a van halen song comes on i bet you 10 to 1 that the song will be a Dave era song and i bet if they played one van halen song an hour and say they played 24 vh songs in a day i bet you 20 of them will be Dave era songs wether it is jump, panama, runnin with the devil, you really got me, jamies cryin, hot for teacher ,etc. and sammy they might play right now, why cant this be love, dreams,top of the world, poundcake, runaround, etc dont even want to talk about Gary cherone. lol but Van Halen took Eddie, Dave, alex , mike and yes Sammy to make it what it is now but Van Halen was huge before Sammy came in so that is all i have to say about that and VH rocks and they are the best of all time and i have heard there bootlegs of them doing zeppelin kiss aerosmith the who zz top the kinks and other bands as well and there versions were better the the originals in y opinion like you really got me it was better the the kinks version and even to give Dave credit when he released California girls his version went to number 3 which was the same as the beach boys who wrote it so dave can sing but he is a entertainer and a performer sammy is a singer and like dave said sammy throws a party and dave is the party.and Van Halen is back now and will rock on with Dave.

PHILLSTER – I got it on Ebay. It’s pretty good. During Panama they splice in some of Dave’s “No Holds BBQ” which is pretty “out there”, but the band and performance is great. (Except for one technical issue – the keyboard sample cuts out after the keyboard solo in Jump, but the guitar player reacts quickly and starts playing it on guitar, so it actually turned it into something really cool, in my mind. Shit happens live, right?)

Dave in his 50′s sings much better than he did in the younger days. Keep the haircut, you look much better now than you did back then.

Apologies, I thought “Ballot or the Bullet” was a fourth single. There were three, “Without you”, “One I want”, “Fire in the hole”.

I’m skeptical with EVH’s comments about the album. I realise that it was his project and he was pretty damn happy with it, but one does not embark on a world tour to support an album when it is not “intended to be a hit”.

III was a messy era and really the only two people to come out of it smelling of anything close to roses (in regards to us fans) were Gary and Mikey, on the strength of the live shows, and the fact that Gary left on good terms (supposedly?)
