    sweet

  2. dlr says:

Let’d get Dave in the studio during these rehearsals we keep hearing about!!!!!

  3. Joe says:

Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Guitar Hero, a 2010 tour…the media assault is ON.

The only thing left to do is announce the release date for the new album (and then pray they don’t pull an Axel Rose)!

  4. K. Reyoch says:

    Very cool!

  5. Erico Salutti says:

    Finally!

  6. ben says:

Cool, I doubt there will be Hagar era vids but it’s still good they are bringing this stuff up to the net, let’s hope they upload unreleased stuff or videos at 5150.

  7. J says:

I have to agree with ben–I highly doubt there will be any Hagar era vids, which is a shame, as I’d love to see Amsterdam in its’ entirety.

  8. Shane says:

RIGHT ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Van Halen has never been on the media like this and i am lovin it ED you and your wife are pure genius all the media stuff you guys got going you have made old die hard fans like myself even happier and you will atract way more fans
keep rockin see ya in 2010 on the road

  9. VH Dude says:

It’s about time… Van Halen fans getting the fan treatment! I’m subscriber 97, not bad for the official Van Halen channel. Hope I get an email notification soon of new postings of unreleased Van Halen videos!

  10. B.L.M. says:

I hope they put ALL of their videos up. I’m sick of them practically ignoring ‘85-’96.

  11. Patrick says:

Making progress with the modern technology, props to Ed for getting with it.

Now release a Blu-Ray of the last tour.

  12. Rocko says:

    That’s more like it!!

  13. Ken says:

In 2010 the MIGHTLY VH will arrive with new music. Remember VH fans back in the late 70’s & 80s, VH was notorious for springing new material on us with NO ADVANCED WARNING. DLR NEVER opened his mouth prior to a release EVER. All you fans who are so worked up, and spoked about DLR being silent, HAVE LITTLE HISTORY WITH VH as a FAN if you are complaining so. In the late 70’s and early 80’s, I used to wait, for months after a tour. Listening every day, by the radio, for a morsel of news. Then ONE DAY, Warner Bros, Ted Templeton, and the boys would release the new brown sound. The world would be taken by storm once again! Anything VH touched turned to gold. Something is a brewing. We will hear a new release soon, I predict, Jan 2010 or sooner. The silence is killing you only because its has been 25 years. I believe VH is working in their late 70’s / early 80’s mode. New tunes are already in the bag. The final demos were already compiled during the summer of 2009. This is how VH used to work. The band would cut demos while on the road and finish them up while in the studio. IN JUST ONE DAY or TWO, VH would leave the studio with a new album in hand. I can’t wait for new tunes from the MIGHTY Van Halen. VH will NOT let us down.

  14. Fair Warning says:

Ken, what you say is true about how VH used to do things. But, times and media have changed. As a band, you should be more interactive with your fans these days if not for the fact that it is so simple to do now. It seems like Ed realizes this now. This is good. May the new album be only months away!

  15. lucky says:

Fair Warning has a point, but I do think there is information overload when it comes to bands I don’t give a crap about, which incidentally, are most bands. I don’t need a twitter update every time a band member pops a pimple or takes a dump, but I guess all the kiddies like to know that stuff nowadays.

On the flip side, I did enjoy Satriani’s tour podcasts as well as Metallica’s studio clips.

  16. Steve Crow says:

11 years and counting, getting very close to Guns n Roses territory. Maybe the created guns have died.I just hope it 1/10 as good as the new Chickenfoot CD. But maybe that’s hoping for too much.Come on VH, shock the world and put out the best CD you’ve ever done, Nuff Said !!!!

  17. DiamondDLR says:

Let’s get serious for a moment. The youtube, twitter, myspace, facebook, etc. BS is purely the wife. Ed has zero to do with any of it. And frankly, he’s right not to waste his time with it. Might as well set up all that shit for the Beatles and The Who too for all the difference it would make.

The wife is probably telling Ed it’s a necessary evil, but without any new music, it doesn’t matter. Even if they tour in 2010, all this twitter crap is meaningless. Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t VH have their biggest money making tour of all time in 2008? All withOUT twitter, myspace, youtube…

Ed’s wife needs to feel like she’s part of the band, that she’s earning her keep. Whatever. Let’s just be honest about what it really is, that’s all.

  18. DiamondDLR says:

Fair Warning, if an album was only months away, you would already know. It’s impossible in 2009 to keep something that big a secret. IF they ever do get a new album out, the PR machine will start rolling at least 18 months ahead of the release date.

  19. Steve Crow says:

It always falls back that all artists forget these days. The “Arist” forgets the main thing that got them to the point where they have progress today,,, Drum Roll Please >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> “The Music”

  20. Fair Warning says:

DiamondDLR, I hear you on both points. But, with that said WE(including you) do care about VH, and we’re probably not going to hear about alot of frivolous stuff- just the stuff that matters. And, as far as new album coming soon- you’re most likely right, but, hey, I’m just wishful thinking. And, as we all know the VH machine is more tight lipped about their business as any band out there.

  21. Fair Warning says:

And, yes, of course it’s his wife behind all of this. But, I’ll give her credit- at least she’s pushing him towards music including the original, the one and only, DLR, and being more interactive with his fans. So, overall I see it as a good thing.

  22. VH Dude says:

No offense to anyone…but if Ed & co. were reading some of the posts in here, he’d be laughing. A few cats in here post as if they have first hand knowledge of what’s going on in 5150 and the world of VH. If you are going to post something as if it were fact, please give us a little bit of basis for your authority on the subject. Just a little something. You don’t even have to be too specific.

I’ve seen posts such as “new tunes are already in the bag” “the new album is in the can” “etc. Really? How do you know this? Ed has only alluded to having tons of material, and some mention of jamming, but he has not mentioned having finished recordings with Dave. Saying this shit is just as stupid as the people that say there is nothing going on at all.

I’m not trying to start a war with anyone. It just cracks me up. I’ve been a fan since 1980 and I’ve devoured every little bit of news, video, audio etc. I used to buy Circus and Hit Parader and put the photos on my walls and stay up late hoping to see a VH video in rotation on MTV. I’ve got every bootleg I can get my hands on. But that doesn’t mean I have some psychic connection to the 5150 studios. Again, where do you get this information? Is it a hunch, a gut feeling? Then preface your theory with “I bet Van Halen is…”

My kids play soccer with another kid in our neighborhood. This kid’s dad worked for Van Halen for 20+ years, seen stuff all of us would die to see. I’ve personally seen signed gold records, unpublished photos, stacks of crew passes, and lots of cool stuff (believe me, I was like a kid in a candy store)…my buddie’s kids went to the Van Halen kid’s birthday parties etc. He’s been tight with VH for years. Van Halen attended this guy’s wedding… No BS. But he hasn’t confirmed some of the claims I’ve heard in here.

Again, I don’t want to start a war with anyone and I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings… It’s fun to speculate about what might or might not be going on. We are all hoping there is still chemistry in the band and that recording is happening or will happen with Dave soon. I’d love to hear about some inside knowledge that one of us might have. Just back it up a little bit…

Right now Ed’s eating a microwave pizza dude. It’s true man. I can feel it. And I know - I’ve got all their albums. Dammit.

  23. Karl says:

Well done DiamondDLR, at last someone has some sense in this thread. The idea that Ed has suddenly come over all media savvy and that it’s purely coincidental that he’s just married a PR woman and his 17 year old son is riding his coat tails is a joke. Apart from anything, if it were Ed you should all be worried. He’s had enough trouble finding the time to make an album as it is without spending all his time Tweeting and Booking. And there’s not a single piece of this shit they couldn’t have been doing through their website for the last ten years. Jesus, how desperate are VH fans that they’re getting all worked up by smoke and mirrors! After all this time the only thing Ed needs to do is make an album. Not Tweeting or Booking or Spacing or another butt-fuck-the-fans-for-every-last-dime-they’ve-got tour. Just an album. Is that too much to ask of a musician?

  24. andy says:

Whoever is the driving force behind making VH more present/visible deserves a medal, a pad on the back and a raise. About time someone tells them to get with the program… Thumbs up for that!

  25. Mark says:

Eighteen months is a stretch, maybe six.

They are not going to announce a January 2011 album release in September 2009.

  26. Ludwig says:

    To Ken!

God bless you!! The wait is almost over and the second coming of the mighty Van Halen is about to arrive!!! That 2004 VH tour with Sam was like the anti-christ, it almost killed the greatest guitarist of our time King Edward Van Halen. Thank God Diamond Dave is back where he rightfully belongs, so it took 25 years….better late than never!!!

Plotting & planning is what Van Halen are doing. And from the youtube, twitter, myspace & facebook, it’s all in motion, get ready!!! It’s no secret in Van Halen’s history, when Van Halen lay low the silence is deafening!!! Now, if only I could be fly on the walls of 5150…

  27. BRIAN says:

totally agree with mark!!! whether it is wolfie or his wife who is responsible, i think we all should thank both of them for helping ed get too where he is right now!! at least they are continuing too work together @ write @ possibly release new material @ are talking about a tour!!! love mikey to death @ wish he was there also, but if this is what it takes too inspire ed to write @ record @ release new material than, SOOO BEE ITT!!!

  28. Frank "The Tank" says:

With Areosmith on the ropes, VH can finally and rightfully reclaim the title of “America’s Greatest Rock and Roll Band”.

  29. D.O.A. 5150 says:

I bet Ed & co. are thinking some of these posts come from fans who need to get a life.

  30. Steve says:

Did ya ever think you would hear that Boston is releasing new music quicker the Van Halen?

  31. dan halen says:

i bet we have some solid news from ed regarding new music within the next 30 days.chickenfoot sold 500,000 copies.with dave at the wheel, a new vh cd would sell more than that on the first day of release.i would have one copy framed so someone can place it in my grave when im dead.

  32. KTC5150 says:

Happy to see that Janie is grabbing the bulls by their BALLS and taking Van Halen , kicking & screaming into the 21st century…Wolfie probably had a hand in this to- GOOD FOR HIM!!!I just hgope that is why you couldn’t see any old VH videos on YouTube - so they had CONTROL of their own library…I just hope we don’t have to PAY for downloading better quality videos of the grainy ones we already have…
I am not a cynic by any means, and have been waiting just as long as all of you, but this “album” better make all the others look like the recent VH tribute videos we see on this website! We have been waiting VERY PATIENTLY (some more than others), and as a long time fan, I am sure that Eddie, Alex Wolf & Dave WILL NOT DISSAPOINT! In my own opinion, if there is any barometer to gauge this activity, it is that this new material is gonna KICK ASS!!! I am just assuming that a strong media foundation needed to be built before anything can be released, not the mess they had to deal with back in 2004 - 2008! Yes, I said it, BOTH tours were media fiascos!
I am sure most people would agree. Now that the MIGHTY VAN HALEN MACHINE has all their ducks in a row, we will get a nice lil surprise come XMAS(speculation), but as was said in earlier posts, VH has in the past played it pretty close to the chest, & always will.

  33. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

Personally I dont care if they tour….record a new album…

All i want to see is that “Crystal Pepsi” commercial again. ;)

    “Manical laughter”

Long Live The Mighty VH !!

  34. KTC5150 says:

    LMAO Ducky!!!

  35. KTC5150 says:

Maybe you can find it on YouTube!

  36. DiamondDLR says:

    @Duck

    LOL! Mmmm… invisible cola…

  37. phillster says:

“Crystal Pepsi”. holy shit.forgot about that one.
    remember “Crystal Gravy”(SNL)lol

  38. pavonini says:

Let’s keep our fingers crossed that all these bits of news posted lately in different media sites are a sign of something great to come from the Mighty Van Halen ; It makes me happy finding out millions out there are feeling the same amount of expectation as I am , about new VH material in the near future, keep on praying folks !

  39. Darren from Brooklyn says:

I remember the commecial that was a car ad as I recall with a Indiana Jones type action figure and he rescues the Barie doll from a lame date with Ken set to “You realy got me” now that was a kool tv ad. Also any one who’s upset with not getting any Hagar stuff well does anyone remember how the Diamond yrs were ignored while poodle head was in the band. ThatKs life, that’s what all the people say, your riden high on Monday shot down in may. Don’t let it get you down. The worlds gonna keep on a spinnin’. See you in the funny papers guess that’s were I’ll be.

  40. Crizzle says:

I’m suprised they didnt superimpose Wolfie in this video somehow.

Does anyone else remember the rumor back in the 80s that VH (most likely Ed & Al), wanted to re-release all their Dave era albums without Dave’s voice on them?

  41. Eat 'Em and Smile says:

I was fortunate enought to see Van Halen when I was 10yrs old at the ‘83 US Festival (CRAZIEST CONCERT I’VE EVER BEEN TO…BY FAR). That was back when they were true Rock Stars and just sang about women, booze and fast cars, they were the greatest party band ever. I am totally stoked that Diamond Dave is back and am still waiting patiently for some new material. Its about time that they give back to their fans. Hopefully the good times are back and for real!!!

  42. Vanicionado says:

There maybe a lot of lightning happening in the computers up there in the Home Office inside Castle Van Edward. But I am more interested in the Thunder that maybe rumbling from the production board of 5150, and the scratch pad of Grand Duke Roth.

It’s nice that they are taking their marketing and publicity strategies from the the dinosaur ages to modern standards. That’s great! But it’s also time to take their music to the next level and not stagnant like some of the other musical giants who either 1. Gave up. or 2. Physically Died.

Throughout Van Halen’s discography, you hear the music of the soundtrack of seven people’s lives.

I want new Van Halen music.

  43. pushtoshove says:

    Every body wants some’…New Music!!!!

  44. VH Dude says:

Right on Vanicionado…we all want new music. Let’s hope these latest strategies are something more than simply promoting a video game. Like Ducky, I’d actually choose a new album over seeing them live again. Seeing them live is awesome…but I’d get much more enjoyment hearing something fresh and new (over and over again…). That said, maybe we’ll get both soon.

I can’t imagine that someone (maybe even the members themselves??) doesn’t check in and browse through the boards from time to time. They’ve got to know that the fans are hoping for new music…

  45. Karl says:

How disappointed are the posters in the thread going to be when they wake up and realise that all this new media activity is not a sign that the boys are about to unleash the MIGHTY VAN HALEN on us once more but simply part of the blanket of PR associated with the guitar Hero game? Van Halen are not a living band, they’re just a corporation monetizing their back catalogue.

  46. D.O.A. 5150 says:

    Right now Karl seems bitter.

  47. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

I still have crystal pepsi on my mind here….

I remember sitting in my living room ( it was 1991 at the time) and I was watching MTV (when it was cool) and a commercial came on. I start to hear VH’s “right now” (I always hated hated hated that fuckin’ song) and I see a cola drink being poured into a glass of ice (I thought pepsi came out with their version of sprite) and then shots of sammy ed alex and mike walking or some stupid shit. I remember thinking at that moment that I was so happy dave was no longer in that band. I was embarrased. I mean….if you’re gonna sell out…sell out to an alcoholic beverage! LOL!
Not pepsi! But that showed right there where the band was at that time. Doesnt matter…the drink tanked….the band looked like dorks and someone out there…..someone who’s name we dont know….someone maybe in hiding….has a crystal pepsi shirt.

  48. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

PS) Karl….just promise me one thing man?

If it turns out your wrong, you’ll be a man and admit it.

  49. Steve says:

Karl hit the nail on the head, just more Running with the Devil is probably all we’ll get anytime soon.

  50. Steve says:

Or Eddy and guys will fiddle fart around for a year or so, then 2 months before going on tour we’ll get another “Greatest Hits” package with one or 2 new songs. Been there done that.

  51. Karl says:

Ducky, I’ll tell you something right now which is the absolute truth: There’s no-one on this board who wants me to be wrong more than I do. I’ll be more than happy for you all to throw rocks at me if I get a new album in return. I sincerely hope I’m wrong. But after all this time I get a sinking feeling that I’m not.

  52. Jor-L5150 says:

it’s cool to have a youtube channel, no biggie.
    the social networking sites ( i-am-a-TWITter , my[narcissm]SPACE , look-at-my-FACE-book etc ) are meaningless- buuuut if it helps i really don’t care.

frankly- any official video site will overlook much of the best material, and the website SHOULD have and aud/vid section ALREADY.
van halen has had the most useless website for years.

  53. Aerobob says:

What REALLY needs to happen to get things rolling again is releasing deluxe editions of Van Halen 1 and 1984 w/ the extra tracks, demos, etc. VH needs to do what Kiss has done & start cracking open their vaults of all the stuff everyone knows is there!!!!!

  54. Van Fan says:

    Ducky,

I’m not defending the Crystal Pepsi thing here, but Ed, Sammy, Alex and Mike were not in the commericals. They were barely in the video for “Right Now.” ;-)

  55. johnny beane says:

I tried Crystal Pepsi when it came out.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPvyq_KmXhc

    That stuff hurts!!
    JB

  56. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

Karl: I respect your honesty man! Cool….

Van Fan: Really? I SWARE I remember seeing them in that commercial. Or maybe I saw a promo or some shit? Huh…
well, it was 1991, I could be wrong but….ahhhh who cares right!? LOL!

  57. Vanicionado says:

And let’s ALSO rememeber… that Eddie was the one who decided to give Pepsi the ‘go ahead’ to use Right Now. His arguement was that they had a song so similar anyhow, they might as well made a few bucks for it…

    Hmmm…

Was that the start of a trend??

  58. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

Lets not forget that horrible MILK ad ! UGH!

“Every time we change lead singers we need an xtra glass of milk” or something lame like that.

    Getting old really sucks.

    Wish I had a time machine man….

  59. KTC5150 says:

Ducky, if I had a time machine, I would be inside Madison Square Garden, October 12, 1981, at my very first VH show!!!

  60. Ducky / Dirty Duck says:

    KTC5150!!!!!!!

…and i’d be right there with ya brother!

    You lucky s.o.b! ;)

  61. Steve says:

I guess this board died with no responses from anybody with news about the new CD. Same ole story, the newness DIED.

  62. Steve says:

Ohhhhh Boy !!!!! We got some brand new T-Shirts to buy. We want new CD, not new cloth.

  63. Steve says:

It’s offical, Best New Rock Band, “Chickenfoot”. I guess Van Halen will have to settle for Best Old Rock Band that never does anything. Creed broke up and got back together, put out a new CD in 8 years and no new music from Van Halen in 11 years. I guess they are waiting for all their oldest fanbase to Die, which most already has. Oh we did get Eddie in a 30-sec TV show, talk about chit. To be honest, I don’t think we will ever get any new music out of Van Halen. Freddy Mercury put out music til the day he died. He never forgot about his fans.
